  3. ***SOLD*** - BLACK FENDER JMJ MUSTANG £900 Purchased from @Brucegill on 7th August, it was love at first play with this bass. As you probably already know these basses are sublime, easy to play, sound amazing, incredible neck, and so on and so forth. So, if it is such a great bass, why am I selling it? Well, I play in an acoustic duo and I already have two semi-hollow @Jabba_the_gut basses that suit our musical needs like a glove and yet, I still have this notion that there is a solid bodied bass out there that'll fit in with our sound. (In all honesty I don't think there is but it sounds like a good excuse rather than saying GAS). I'm waffling. So, the bass is strung with glorious La Bella 760F-MUS stainless steel flats, the price also includes a Fender gig bag and three more scratchplates. As well as the black one that's on it... the original white pearloid 4 ply brown celluloid from TinyTone 4 ply red celluloid from TinyTone ...the last two scratchplates cost just over £100 and are pristine, I bought them after I purchased the bass and they are band new (see last pic above). The tug bar is missing in the pics above but I have just put it back on. The price is firm as I just want to recoup what I paid for it and you get £100 of scratchplates thrown in essentially for free. You are welcome to come and try the bass out or I am happy to drive it to you (within reason) or meet up half-way. Obviously I'd rather not risk a courier and will drive a significant distance to avoid this but will post if there is no alternative. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions or request more pics. Here is my Mustang NBD thread. Here is @Brucegill's original advert that has somemore pics.

  5. This lovely V6 has been an on/off feature at the studio since early 2019 and is in plenty of pictures here on the forum. The previous owner and I had an agreement that I would store his Ampeg cab at the studio as long as the V6 came with it - something that has worked well for the two of us as both the 8x10 and V-Type have featured on many recordings. ❤️ As time has moved on and his band circumstances changed a little, I was offered the big Trace at a very reasonable price and let's be honest, if I ever had a weakness, it's TE V-Types. 😃 It's pretty clean throughout and sounds fantastic (obviously!) so I'll take it to rehearsal next week and see how it goes. I love these things. ❤️

  6. First year at uni. Took my 1.1 Fiesta down with me, upgraded the radio, added speakers on the parcel shelf in the back, and had a shoe box full of tapes to dip into as the mood took me. Good times! These are the albums I remember playing the most: U2 "Unforgettable Fire" Level 42 "World Machine" Stevie Ray Vaughan "Couldn't Stand the Weather" Kate Bush "Hounds of Love" Killing Joke "Night Time" Judie Tzuke "Ritmo" Icehouse "Primitive Man" Plus plenty of older Purple, Rainbow and Whitesnake.

  10. I have the vintage blonde and love it! Sounds great, plays well, is light, and looks the part. The satin finish on the neck and body are really nice. £259 is a steal.

  11. Here's my new (almost) All Boss board I have replaced my Pedaltrain nano plus with a Harley Benton Spaceship Power 50C. This has the PSU with isolated 9v outputs built into the board and it connects to the mains via a kettle lead. Some of the outputs can be switched to 12 or 18V, and it has USB-A & USB-C outputs on the back for charging your phone etc. The bag it comes with is absolutely perfect and it also comes with every power adaptor cable you could imagine. I fitted a Harley Benton SpaceShip Pedalboard Blue LED strip to the bottom front of the board as I think it looks rather good. My boss pedals are TU-3 tuner SY-1 Synth - for doubling bass with cool 60s organ LMB-3 Bass Limiter Enhancer - always on ODB-3 Bass Overdrive with Monte Allums mod - for when I want to add a bit more dirt to what I already get from my Ashdown ABM600 Evo iv CEB-3 Bass Chorus - arrived today, I'm sure I'll find a job for it in the setlist Then half on/half falling off the end the board is my trusty thumpinator. Not sure whether I still need this with the ABM600 though.

  12. This........... They are musicians. Its obviously their passion. They dont need the money. Too many cynics around. Alot of people love the Stones. Let them play until they cant anymore. Not many bands have lasted this long.

  13. Mid-1980s Saxon. Wow. The unacceptable use of spandex, lycra and hairspray by men who were way too old and way too northern for it to be legal. It's still not too late for the culprits to be brought to justice.

  19. Status series 1. Plays very niceley indeed, its got a very thin neck front to back and it's super stable, The bass is 9/10 condition with no dings or scratches to note, The pickup covers have a small crack in them, it's barely noticable and it certainly doesn't affect the sound, but I like to be transparent about these things. You're welcome to come and try it, but I'm a bit far north, so not practical for everybody. I can do whatsaap video calls if that helps, can demo anything or provide more pictures. It really is a lovely instrument, but I just bought something else, so could do with moving some stuff on before the missus kicks me in the balls. Thanks for looking, any questions, just fire away.

  22. I've seen a few threads on pickguards for these and reckon the original plate suits the Dakota red best. That bright red and the tint in the glossed neck just zing with the anodised plate!

  23. From experience, adding a capacitor to a bridge pickup won't make it sound like a Rickenbacker, nor will it particularly change how the pickups interact with each other. A Rickenbacker pickup sounds like that regardless of the cap, that just changes the character slightly. I added a cap to the back pickup on a BC Rich and it certainly thins the tone out... at the moment it's got a push/pull for series/parallel output from the pickup but I might change this to switch the cap in and out instead. On a Rick, when both pickups are full on with the cap engaged they interact very differently, resulting in a less scooped, hollow twang like you'd get with a Jazz, for example. On my BC Rich it still has that hollow twang to the top end but still retains the mids, if that makes sense. By all means try it, you might have more luck than I did! Picture for no reason other than it's a cool looking bass!

  24. EDIT - Back up for sale. For a short period earlier in the year, it was on hold, then off hold, then I decided to keep it fearing remorse. This is my Shuker Series One Elite Bass. Absolutely gorgeous custom made instrument in excellent condition. Very little fret wear. Setup with med-low action. Spec: Body - Wenge with quilted maple facings Neck - Wenge and flamed maple Fretboard - Rosewood Nut width - 42mm (P-bass) Neck-shape - C type Tuning machines - Gotoh Bridge - Schaller Pickups - EMG-HZ Switch for hum bucking / single coil. 3 band 18v active preamp - The preamp is Jon Shukers own first generation one, so handmade with small trimmer on the circuit board for adjustable input gain to the preamp, if you use a lot of boost then best to keep it low to avoid any distortion. There is also an adjustable pot in the cavity which controls the frequency that the mid boost/cut works at, its quite a useful addition as it does change the character of the sound quite a bit when you use the mid control. Weight - 4.35 KG Comes with a Hiscox hard case. Happy to post within the UK and discuss options for this. Open to trades, ideally with some cash in my direction. Any questions, please ask. EDIT - price drop to £1200 Feedback:

  25. ...assuming you're a} alive and b} old enough, what tape are you putting in your Walkman or car stereo? For me, it's a C90 with Level 42's eponymous 1st album on one side and their 'Pursuit of Accidents' on the other.

  26. Made in Japan non export, just sold to the Japanese market 32” scale Jazz bass. I imported this myself from Japan. Thinking of selling as I already have the Aerodyne medium scale and have been looking at some mustangs. Extremely hard to find JB62M, the body and headstock are also reduced in size by 6-8% I believe so much better for short people like Myself where a full sized bass looks a bit silly. I can post or you can collect from PE27 3FW

  27. I bought a couple of Rockboard 2.0 and 2.1s recently. The 2.0s are travel boards to be stored in the 2.1 flight case with a pair of headphones and cables. I was wondering what to do with the now homeless 2.1s and, owing to my desk now being taken over by working-from-home equipment, I found my answer. I needed a way to quickly move my usual recording set up back and forth so the 2.1s have now been put to use for a clean tone board (Broughton BBA, mini tuner, compressor and preamp), and my pedal testing board. In case anyone is wondering about the gap between the Stomp and the Element, it's to allow me to choose whether to run it as a full board or to take the cables out (which wouldn't be possible with a smaller gap) and run them to another pedal when I'm testing it.

  28. I put a Kent Armstrong pickup in my Electra VS4 because one band needed a more vintage tone for a couple of gigs. It does that brilliantly, especially with TI flats. And it still rocks with nickel rounds in my dad rock band (I play through a TC BQ500, which has a very clean, modern tone so the Sandberg p/u was a bit too bright). I also swapped out the pre-amp for a K10gon passive loom because the volume control was faulty. I couldn’t be happier!

  29. I was 20 years old in 1985, so for sure Yello Stella on one side and Uzeb Between the Lines on the other side. And another cassette with Joe Jackson Big World on one side and The Pogues Rum, Sodomy, and the Lash on the other and singing (more certainly yelling) like a mad man in the car when Dirty Old Town was playing.

  39. Isn't it actually the other way round? The great big wobbly bag of dirty water that is you acts as an aerial and retransmits all sorts of gubbins from the environment which is picked up by the pickups and electronics, and when you touch the strings or the bridge you're earthing yourself.

  44. Good luck with your new P bass...true P bass tone and the necks feel so much nicer than the necks of their Vintera counterparts. Pretty much the same sale has been happening here all summer. No wonder Squier's selling more basses than they ever have before, probably moving more P and J basses than similar Fender MIMs. I wanted a Fender Vintera bass, but not for the USA-made prices Fender was asking for them. Good thing I wasn't in a rush because I bought both of these on sale last month for less than the price of 𝘰𝘯𝘦 Vintera.
