Private festival yesterday - very well attended, I think it is private just so that they can save on the public insurance while still inviting everyone! There were two 'stages', ie flatbed trailers with haybales in front of them, like this: and it went on from about 3:30 until we stopped at ¼ to 12, but people were staying there in big premade tents and a couple of motorhomes / vans. There were two bands before us, a guy on a piano doing really impressive covers of large band songs, and a group of people doing general covers in a sort of hilbilly style. We were supposed to start at 8:30, but even though we were setup and ready by 7:30, the middle band just carried on until 8:25 which meant we had practically no time to get sound setup, other than line checks. Still when we went on it was good, although I was playing the bongo, and I couldn;t see the fretmarkers at all, so made some silly mistakes, and also while the sound was good at the front, the bass where i was was deafening, probably because of standing on the same bit of metal as all the cabs (but the guitarist couldn't hear the bass at all). Switched to the acrylic bass, as at least I could then see, sound not as good but overall the image was better. Went down a storm with people dancing all night, and really wanting us to not stop, and paid pretty well too.10 points

An afternoon slot at the Wigan Diggers' Festival for Fine Lines. https://wigandiggersfestival.org/ It was rather warm, much like the rest of the UK, which isn't my favourite thing to play in. We played without a drummer, as the regular one was on holiday and the dep we had arranged needed to drop out. As we're an originals band, it's a bit harder to make last minute substitutions. However we've played with this line up before, so it's not something we went into blind. Stage monitoring was a bit challenging to start off with For the first song, the only things audible were the piano/organ and one of the singers. I had to watch the guitarist's strumming pattern (not an euphemism) in order to follow the beat. Still, it improved eventually and we managed to survive until the end. Under normal circumstances, I would have been wearing a more "on-brand" stage shirt, however the setup time was limited, so we pretty much ran straight through setup, line check and performance.9 points

Hurtsfall played on Friday night at The Angel in Nottingham with Inward Strange and Cold In Berlin. Another really good one for us, not quite as bonkers as our last gig in Leeds, and we didn't play quite as well (we were probably the only people who noticed that) but there were plenty of people down the front dancing and cheering between songs. Only down side was that the foldback mix for our set was entirely different to the one we had sorted out during the soundcheck despite the fact that nothing had need to be unplugged in between and the venue has a programmable digital desk. It wasn't a big deal, but in this day and age the only reason I can think for this happening is user error on the part of the PA engineer. However lots of people came up afterwards and told us how much they had enjoyed the set, and we sold a decent amount of merch. I was expecting to be able to post some photos but nothing has shown up on social media yet. Next gig is on 16th September in Coalville at the Victoria Bikers Pub as part of the Gothic Gathering festival. We're on just before 6.00 in the evening.7 points

Pretty decent, 50th birthday party in a social club, so went exactly as you'd expect it to. Had a slight issue with my slimmed down pedal board, I think a connection came loose at one point so I went silent. No drama, just by-passed the pedal board and went straight into the amp until there was a moment to re-jig. However what it did highlight is what an integral part of my sound the TC Spectracomp is. Without it, the sound was thinner and lacked some umph, turning on my EBS amp's built in compressor was no comparison either. Just set to 12:00 on the default tone-print brought out some very pleasing frequencies and filled out the sound. It's remarkable how good the Spectracomp is, particularly for a one-knob pedal at it's price point7 points

Another thing from back then... My dad worked in Dunstable, just a couple of buildings away from the AGFA factory, so he could get mates rates on bulk packs of cassette tapes (remember them?) They did a version of a C90 tape with an extra 3 minutes on each side, so overlength albums would fit onto one side, meaning you didn't have to pick your least favourite tune to lose!5 points

Unfortunately this looks as if it's going to Ebay on the next 80% fee deal,(it's already on Gumtree, but for Bass Chat I'll drop the price to £600+PP It's in a Ibanez case and I have a bass box and plenty of packing, so if you wanted to organize your own courier, that's fine by me Boxed and ready measurements (Bass in Ibanez case, in Ibanez box, in Bass box) 127cm x 55 x 12cm Weight 12.5kg Excellent condition Ibanez Premium SR1305 Five String Bass. It's never left our smoke free home, and has lived in it's Ibanez case for most of the time I've had it. I've tried my best, but a five string is not for me and I'd like some loot for my other ventures. I can't find a mark on this, apart from an very small indentation just behind the bridge, where I temporally had a GK3B on it (pic 5), and a very small mark on the body, but I think it's just part of the wood (pics 1 and 13). It plays well, sounds good, truss rod is fine. It does everything it should do. The details and pics are as follows : Neck type: Atlas-5 5pc Wenge/Bubinga neck w/KTS TITANIUM rods Body: Ash/Walnut top/Mahogany body Fretboard: Panga Panga fretboard w/Avalone Oval dot inlay Fret: Medium frets w/Premium fret edge treatment Bridge: Mono-rail V bridge Nut: Graph Tech BLACK TUSQ XL nut Neck pickup: Nordstrand "Big Single" 5 neck pickup Bridge pickup: Nordstrand "Big Single" 5 bridge pickup Active EQ: Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band eq w/Eq bypass switch & 3-way Mid frequency switch Hardware color: Gold Ibanez Hard/Soft case and Ibanez Bass Tool included Any questions, or more pics, just ask I have good feedback on here, and ebay. If you're in the vicinity, you're welcome to pop in and demo it. Posting would need to be discussed, as I'm in Scotland. UK only sale, due to you what.4 points

Decided I needed something new to inspire me to practice more. Ever get stuck in a rut and need something shiny to encourage you to get back to the bass shed? Well that was me and scratch definitely itched! My orange b25 was ace at outputting meagre fart impressions at low volume so decided to up it a bit. I’ve been keeping an eye out for a new amp on BC and FB for a while and this rumble combo turned up for sale a couple of miles down the road. I’m not gigging at the mo but wanted to get something that would work if the opportunity arose. I’ve had big rigs in the past and miss the weight (tone-wise) a decent size cab can deliver, even at low volumes. Fantastic enjoyable, easy purchase and nice chat from the seller led to me purchasing this 1x15 200 watt combo. Pretty much mint condition and barely used. It sounds great, is super light and works brilliantly at low volume. Initial preference is to run the gain really high, vintage switch in and eq mostly flat. No real tinkering to get a good sound. I get a lot more noticeable variation in tone now when changing pickups/ right hand position. It’s made practice fun again. I’m flicking through tuition books that I’ve ignored for years. For the first time ever my neighbour told me he could hear what I was playing and gave me a compliment. I think it was a polite way of telling me to turn down! Reminder to self to be reasonable with the volume. So far so good! If I actually get the chance to play out the house I’ll update this thread with thoughts.4 points

Gator plush soft hard case for Bass. The weight of a gigbag and the protection of a hard case (sort of). Usual Gator quality, excellent condition. Two internal sections for your strap and tuner and stuff, decent size (but fairly shallow) external pocket for music and strings. Comes with shoulder strap and silica gel (which you should not eat*). Looking for £40, happy to post for £15 via Parcelforce 24hr. You are most welcome to collect from Bewdley, Worcestershire DY12 (near Kidderminster), I might even treat you to a brew (milk supplies permitting). I'd trade for a Hiscox (with cash your way) - I'm not really after anything else but feel free to ask, I do like toys. Any questions, please ask (except "Is the Bass included?" It is not). * If you really want to eat the silica gel, please do so after you have paid, ta.4 points

Squier Paranormal Rascal bass, bought in July from PMT in Bristol, and in 'as new' condition. It was a bit of an impulse buy because I thought I wanted a cheaper bass for gigs where it might get damaged. But although it's a great bass (see LowEnd Lobster's review on YouTube) I just find myself reaching for my existing basses. Strap not included, no case. I'm in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, and prefer collection, but am happy to travel a reasonable distance to deliver/ meet up. Will be heading to the SW Bass Bash in October so that might be an opportunity to meet. Sorry but I won't post/ courier. I'm having a bit of a 'thinning the herd' exercise, so feel free to come and try more than one if you fancy! Not really looking for trades, but no harm asking! Short or medium scale only though. [Edited to remove reference to La Bella strings, as I now want to put these on another bass, so it will come with the original roundwounds, and to lower price accordingly.]3 points

Nordstrand Acinonyx v.1 in Surf Green. In generally very good condition: there are some faint scratches on the pickguard, and two thin cracks in the lacquer around the neck pocket - I've tried to photograph them all. The cracks around the neck pocket were there when I bought it (I'm the 2nd owner) over 2 years ago, and they haven't changed since then. I love this bass - it's super light with a slim, fast neck, and an amazing vintage sound (currently strung with La Bella DTFs). I never thought I'd want to sell it but the band I played it in has split up, and it's not getting used, sadly. Strap not included (and I have now replaced the straplocks with the original buttons); no case. Comes with Nordy mute. I'm in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, and prefer collection, but am happy to travel a reasonable distance to deliver/ meet up. Sorry but I won't post/ courier. Not really looking for trades, but no harm asking! Short or medium scale only though.3 points

Now Sold Beautiful bass with supermodel looks. Bought this from Mattbass a while back for a specific show. Is absolutely did the job and it’s now time to go to another home. This is fully set up, in immaculate condition (no dings, dents or scratches) with upgraded Hi Mass genuine Fender bridge, Fender knobs, custom mirror scratch plate and a new set of LaBella 45-105 stainless steel strings. The neck is true and straight, with a lovely low action. This plays and sounds amazingly well. I have priced this very realistically. Open to trades to the value of 280-300 and willing to pay extra. also can ship in the UK. Grab a beautiful bass while you can. This is definitely the best squier I have ever played. The Vintage Modified basses are spot on, and in my opinion, so much better than the current Classic Vibe range.3 points

It was, thanks, although the surprise I wasn't expecting is that lit up basses actually attract flying biting insects outside!3 points

This. Ive recently began studying cello. If there is anything to kill GAS permanently it's learning a classical instrument cause its all about study and practise practise practise....Sure you can get a better instrument but it'll be just has hard to get the notes right as the beginners instrument. I now see my bass playing in a completely different light as well....that its so darn easy in comparison.3 points

Lights flashing sounds like inadequate current. Have you calculated the current draw for the pedals and compared it with the outputs on the Caline? I still get it wrong sometimes, and use the wrong supply output for the wrong pedal and then it all goes wrong. I’ve got a bunch of high current pedals so as unsexy a purchase as it is, I bought a Cioks DC7 and now all is well.3 points

I have more gear than I could possibly need or want but, yes, Gas strikes from out the sun when you least expect it. I decided a while ago that the word 'gas' was filled with negative connotations when it wasn't necessarily a negative state of mind. I tend to regard it as 'curiosity' now, rather than gas. So, rather than slavishly 'gassing' for something and then 'giving in' I now think positively 'I am curious about what that bit of gear is like so will buy and try'.3 points

I just started gigging again after a few decades off. I am very happy with my basses, although one needs a new Jack, and I love my amp head, but will gradually upgrade my 4x12…probably keep the 15. No GAS, just a plan…:)3 points

I'm moving on my Moog Taurus 3 bass pedals, as they deserve to be out there somewhere shaking foundations. I've had them since new, and they've been used only at home. They are in amazing condition, and I have no hesitation in using the reverb.com "Mint" condition description, which states "items are completely blemish-free and have not been modified in any way." The firmware is up-to-date with the most recent version from Moog. As well as capturing the sounds of the original Moog Taurus I, the T3 opens up all kinds of options for new sounds and controls including LFOs, external CVs and arpeggiation. Everything is original - box, manual, power cable, and paperwork from Moog. Also included is the official Moog dust cover, which is also in excellent condition as the pedals have always been kept in their original box when not in use. The T3 is heavy - so this sale is collection only, although get in touch to discuss options. Collection is from London SE4, although I'm open to travelling short distances to meet and exchange. This will require that the buyer complete the purchase from their side in advance of the exchange - please consider this as "delivery" rather than an opportunity to try-out or inspect. I'm also advertising on eBay and reverb.com, where you'll see the same photos - but a lower price for basschat. Any questions - please get in touch, additional photos are available on request. Where basschat folk have left me feedback you'll see it at https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/78478-feedback-for-toneknob/.2 points

Over the last 7/8 years my personal equipment has reached a level where I have no need, or want, for anything. Amp wise I already have the best. As well as multiple heads and cabs. I own 6 outstanding instruments. Carefully selected, and compared to the likes of Lakland, MTD, Alembic and any other brand you can think of. They fit me and sound fantastic. Over the last 3/4 years I have gone primarily ampless. And now I have six pedal boards. Any of which can, and do, get the job done. Anyone else out there that want for nothing? It actually feels great.2 points

I'm pretty much done with GAS now. Over the years I've been lucky enough to snag most things that have caught my interest and given them a whirl - I'm at the point now where I have some great sounding gear that works for me and everything is useable/interchangeable in any gig if something goes pop. I have 3 basses - a Zon Sonus Import that would be impossible to replace as they're so rare, a Cort A4 Plus which is just astonishing vfm and a Warwick Corvette Proline with a few upgrades on it. All 3 get gigged and rotated regularly. I love Musicman basses but they never work live for me, I don't really do Fenders or passive stuff. The only thing that might interest me would be a German Warwick Fortress possibly if i got bored with the Corvette but they don't pop up very often within my mental budget and I'm generally happy with the Vette. Main gigging amp is a Mesa BB750 and I have a spare one of those too. A Quilter BB800 covers off lightweight or home use duties and an Orange 4 Stroke fits somewhere between those 2 camps. Cabs are a couple of Barefaced 1x12's that I've had for years and would never have a need to change - they'll handle any gig I'm likely to do. The pedalboard is settled now I've got rid of all the programable stuff and gone down the knobs route. I also managed to snag a spare wireless unit to back up my fave and long discontinued Sony DWZ unit. Lessons would be a much better investment if i had any desire to improve anything now2 points

East Coast D1S solid top acoustic guitar. Solid spruce too, laminated walnut back and sides, indian laurel fingerboard, black binding with satin finish throughout. Near mint condition with no issues at all. Guitar plays great. Action has been lowered at the bridge saddle. Lovely guitar for very little outlay. Bought for £99 which was a sale price and I thought a steal at the money. Upgrading as I just bought a Fender acoustasonic guitar. Guitar is in Market Drayton which is roughly in the middle of Stoke, Crewe, Telford and Shrewsbury. Could maybe meet Stoke or Telford areas as I work and rehearse with my band there.2 points

We're in Rummers, back in the 80s i think it was called Baccus. The angel is still going, but i think we may be a bit tame for there. Gig going great, i breath a sign of relief when the sounds right and i get on with playing. The final hour coming up after I've had a pee.2 points

Played with The 77s at The Bedford in Tonbridge wells last night. Boiling hot and we had to wait for the rugby to finish before we could play, which meant we didn’t start till 10.30. Turned out they only had a music licence until 12 and so we didn’t end up playing for very long. Shame as it was a great crowd and the pub was packed. It was our first gig in a month and I made a few mistakes but nothing to major. Great pub and the staff were really helpful and accommodating. my Boss WL20 wireless wasn’t working properly, which I think was due to the compact space and lots of people so I had to use a cable. all in all a good night.2 points

I got a LoBat device from the states fitted to my active bass. Blips when you plug in and goes on permanently when the batteries are running flat. I believe some Yamaha basses have a similar device.2 points
-
Ooh - sounds like a plan. It would work fine on 90% of active basses, and burn out the preamp of the other 10%. Remember there is no standard on which way round the wiring needs to be, even between manufacturers. Still, a great way of saving £2* at only a slight risk of costing a few hundred! *or less - just got 10 duracell power batteries for £11.49 from battery station.2 points
