Tone deaf nonsense being spouted by a leech who produces nothing and takes almost everything.10 points

This is my current setup for my fretless. 1. Boss OC-5 Octave: Tried quite a few Octave pedals and nothing has beaten it for tracking and tone. A wonderful pedal. 2. Zoom MS-60B: Has been hacked and is used for ambient effects using some delays and reverbs to mimic a cello and orchestral sounds. 3. EBS UniChorus: Been through a lot of chorus pedals but after seeing @Dood review, it seemed to be just what I was after and it is. Amazing Chorus pedal. 4. Walrus Audio Slo: my main reverb and used for some ambient effects as well. 5. Ampeg Opto Compressor: Sounds great and just sprinkles lots of magic goodness on my tone. 6. Sansamp BDDI v2: Absolutely brilliant, I wished I'd got one sooner. I wish I could mount my power supply under my Pedaltrain Metro 16 but it's too tall. If I could then I'd also have my TC Electronic Spark Booster and maybe a Phaser pedal or EBS Envelope Filter as well.8 points

Does it count as NBD if a single change to a bass you've had for 25 years transforms the sound and makes you fall in love with it again?! I just swapped the pickups in my MIM fretless Jazz bass from stock to CS60s, and... Holy moly! Picture doesn't do justice to the colour. It's a lot "creamier" than the off-white it looks here.6 points

So I’m now the latest keeper of the pink Rockinfreakapotamus. I’m not here to introduce the bass, I’m here to gush about Jon Shuker. I’ve never had an interest in the name, never had one of his basses on my radar but I was mistaken and wrong. Custom hardware aside (it’s got a lane Poor pickup and bad a$$ bridge.) I’m familiar with Lane Poor from other basses I’ve owned, this is a legacy not original (anyone have one to sell?) but it’s still tight, punchy and hot. That aside the build quality is superb, balance, neck and overall feel are I think probably some of the best I’ve played and many of you know the basses that have been through my grubby mitts. I do like a battered bass and I think the relic job on this is done well. If you haven’t checked out a Shuker, I think you should, I will certainly be keeping my eye on the market place. I hear rumour of the grey one that has just changed hands and I’d like to track that one down too so the pair can be reunited! @walshy I’m sure you know where it is you keep tabs on this duo. Great commission and Jon if you follow basschat you have a new customer.4 points

Oh crumbs. Here’s another bass I don’t want to sell - not long bought it! 1996 or 1997, made in China, and played quite a lot judging by the gig scars (pictured). Currently wearing round wounds, being sold with the original off-white and replacement black pickguards, also the original chrome dome, replacement black jazz, and funky knobs (pictured). 30” scale length 41mm nut width 17.5mm (ish) spacing at the bridge Nearly 3.6kgs in weight No Bag or case, but will be well packaged for transit. £300 collection An extra £35 for delivery (Overland Express) or happy to let you arrange you own courier.4 points

Santa has come early this year, FedEx have just dropped off a little surprise I'm doing so much printing that I needed a faster printer and better printer, so my old Prusa MK3 which has been upgraded and upgraded and upgraded is now being donated to the local school. Nothing wrong with it, but its a pain changing nozzles, it's not as fast and I wanted to see if the quality was better in Mk4's. I wanted an Prusa Original XL which has a 360mm x 360mm build plate but a) it was circa £4K and b) its enormous. Its ready to be installed once I read the instrucitons and Prusa 2 finishes it;s last ever job for me. Thanks Rob4 points

Next up is this lovely vintage Yamaha PJ Bass. This has some provenance in that it belonged to Neil Gauntlett who was Joe Brown's guitarist. Neil, who sadly passed away, played this in his Country side project apparently. I'm friends with Neil's ex wife and that's how I came by the bass. It's in overall great condition with some dinks (more pics on request) and has a nice, punchy low mid focussed tone. It weighs in at 9.2 lbs but it is a little neck heavy so a decent strap should be used. Made from Mahogany. A little pitting on the lovely ornate bridge. All original. Pick up from Sunny Milton Keynes, can post at buyer's risk/cost or can meet at a train station between Euston and Crewe/Wolves/Brum Free Aum sticker included to focus your cosmic energy when playing!4 points

so... a temporary solution which I don't find too insulting... basically copper shielding tape stuck on the underside of the clear plate. I precut a nice curve in one piece to give it some shape. Will do for now until I consider a better option and have the time to look at a picture of the wood stuck on the underside or something...4 points

For sale is my beautiful Modulus Bassstar with Koa body. These are pretty rare. The bass has been used a lot, which shows. The body has a lot of small damages and usermarks. The neck is in good condition. All hardware and electronics (vol, pickup select, bass/treble) work like they should. Playability is good. It’s quite a light instrument with its 3,8kg. Asking €1850 I am located in the Netherlands. Pickup is preferred, but I could ship at buyers risk. No trades.4 points

Now, the fingerboard is shaped, and laid on the 5-piece neck blank. Very striking! Ooh - I just spotted the fretboard markers, so subtle that I initially missed them.4 points

This isn't a cash grab, it's a benefit concert. Not sure how anyone can take this as a negative.4 points

I don't have a particular axe to grind with this, but stating that the cost of content creation is zero (or close to that) is a preposterous statement, even someone with a cursory knowledge of what it takes to create content (which, for the record, is not a term I particularly like to use, but from a streaming services PoV, I find it very appropriate) knows the cost is not "close to zero". Music fans and artists hit back as Spotify CEO claims “the cost of creating content” is “close to zero” Mark3 points

I recently recorded an album with my jazz trio and I did it as cheaply as humanly possibly - recorded and produced by me, two days of recording only, borrowed mics on the drums. But it still cost me £500 to hire a suitable space with a good piano for two days, and I used about £1k of recording equipment that I own, playing a double bass that cost about £3k. So your man from Spotify can do one.3 points

In particular Glen. If you've ever heard any of the 'Spunk' recordings, the bass lines are far more interesting than the chugga-chugga parts Steve played on NMTB.3 points

Current progress with Two Tribes as well as a demo of the Sadowsky preamp now installed in the Sire. For those interested this is both pickups, tone 100%, bass boosted to about 25% and treble to 50%. I'm also in drop D tuning.3 points

Whoops, short notice, but Nine Lives are playing at the Butcher's Arms in Inverurie tonight. On the off-chance that someone A) is anywhere near Inverurie, B) sees this, C) is at a loose end and D) actually wants to see me muller some classic rock!3 points

I've been in a few good tributes, and left for various reasons. For me, it's about one thing - it's not the looks, not the sound, not the stage antics - but it's about the "experience". That's what makes a good tribute. A great night out. A good resemblance to instruments, costumes, sound, looks all help sell that experience. I also fully believe you need to have a bit of yourself in their too to make it appear authentic.3 points

For sale. A Phil Jones C8 Bass Cabinet in Red. Fitted with built in trolley. This multi speaker (8x5in) design has everything you could want in a lightweight, powerful (800W), high quality attractive cabinet. These retail for £650 - £750 so I've priced this to sell. Comes with slip on cover. My friend and band mate Nigel Baker (bumnote on BC) sadly passed away in April last year and this speaker is the last of his collection of amps, speakers and basses to be offered for sale on Basschat. The C8 offered here was Nigel's favorite and it certainly delivers a solid, punchy tone at sound levels than can make your ears bleed (is that's what you want). Collection preferred, due to bulk and weight but will ship if pick up not possible. Maybe meet halfway for handover if a 'reasonable' distance from Southampton. Payment by Bank transfer or PayPal Cabinet for Electric Bass High-end audio performance Extended bass response and punch/attack Driver configuration: 8x 5" PJB neo power Piranha drivers Impedance: 4 Ohm Power rating: 800 watts Frequency range: 25hz to 15,000 Hz Connectors: 2 x Neutrik NL4MP Speakon Lightweight construction Ventilated cabinet Dimensions (W x H x D): 360 x 640 x 320 mm Weight: 18.6 kg Housing with red cover Incl. cover2 points

OK there's a lot of space around the contents. But they were just trying to provide plenty of air on a G string.2 points

there's an interview where Lydon explains his feelings, he's never really got on with the others that's why he orchestrated getting Sid in, he does seem to take offense very easily, just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me 😊2 points

Thanks for including the frequency centres of the eq, the Markbass preamps always seem to sound better than the Bart MkI which has some odd choices RE frequency points. Weird that the C series is outspecced in this regard (for me anyway) compared to the more expensive models.2 points

I saw Gary doing his shizz with Dressed To Kill a looong time ago at a club owned by a mate of mine in Wokingham, Berkshire. Frankly, it was one of the greatest evenings I've ever had seeing a band, originals or otherwise.2 points

I don't think to they're particularly heavy Anyway back to the topic in hand. Used the ME90B this evening. Only as a pedal board with a few different effects. It's excellent 👌. Ran it without mains cables, it used hardly any battery power and the sounds were just great. It's a winner .2 points
