Great ska gig on Saturday night, as per usual the PA was vocal/guitar/keys/kick/snare only so my Genz/Barefaced stack of doom was roaring away at the back. I love it when I have to crank it up a bit. Using the Spector, as per usual on the ska gigs, I experimented with a couple of sounds... usually for 'Time Bomb' I use a slightly grubby SVT model on my Zoom MS60B, but this time I also stamped on the Wine Cellar for an extra bit of grit and oh my god it was HUGE. Without a doubt the best pick sound I've ever had.9 points

Bought a month or two ago on the forum. Beautiful and pretty rare, especially in this condition, but it's just that little bit too heavy for me and my knackered shoulder and back at a whisker under 9 pounds. Wearing brand new TI Flats, plays very well with nice low action and that Rick growl. Comes with Mono gigbag. Collection from public space in SW13 (Barnes, south of perma closed Hammersmith Bridge) or courier delivery at cost. No trades, sorry. The cash would come in handy for continuing medical bills and upcoming daughter's wedding!7 points

Glockenklang Take Five Neo Reluctant sale of this immaculate and beautifully made cabinet. Very rare, very boutique, very loud and very light! This is the neodymium equipped version of their lightweight cabinet. They are very expensive and hard to come by. It's been used with a 550W head and never been pushed, I had it up as far as 6 and it was incredibly loud. A very sensitive and clear sound. Cab is in immaculate condition, very little use and very well looked after. This is sale only, no trades, thank you. 4 Ohm version, rated at 800 Watts Specs as follows: Powerhandling: 800 watts Impedance: 4 or 8 ohms Sensitivity: 103 dB / 1w / 1m Frequency range: 36 Hz - 18 kHz Dimensions: 660 x 615 x 445mm / 26.5" x 24" x 17.5" Weight: 23.5 kg / 51.8 lbs Very easy lift, really doesn't feel much more than my old Epifani 310UL, especially for the capability. Collection from Stroud. I drive all over for gigs so arranging meeting up may be possible if that's helpful, I'm always happy to discuss options where possible, please feel free to get in touch about that or any other questions.Thanks.4 points

Ah I’ve been playing with it. It might be back soon or there’s a chance we might make it visible to supporting members only to stop people trying to scam people (we have found a couple of people who have messaged saying ‘hey I have that thing you want’ then used pictures from the internet (I.e not their own)). Watch this space, it might be up and down whilst we discuss it. Making it for supporting members only would also mean we can allow replies to posts, which will make it much more useful.4 points

I didn't think this day would come but I have decided to part with my Guild Starfire due to a new project and a bass being available that I think would fit the bill (if that bass sells I will remove this from sale) This is a USA Westerly made Guild from the late 90s not a Newark reissue. These guilds were limited in numbers and I have only seen a handful available for sale. The guild website link states they have gaps in serial number date but Starfire 4 (they do not list a Starfire II) in 1996 end at AG000219 and Starfire II start in 1997 at AG300001 so my guess would be late 1996 but I cannot prove this. The bass is all original to my knowledge in amazing condition just some slight pitting/tarnishing on hardware no dents or big marks just some light scratches and tiny marks it really is a stunning bass. The flame maple has some really lovely figuring in the light. Currently strung with old flats it has a really lovely thump but with some newer strings I found it quite versatile. (Great for that BRMC style riff or get your JMJ vibes going) Bass weight is around 4.30/4.40kg on my scales which I think is down to the woods/center block but on a wide strap you don't notice it It's a semi hollow flame maple body, sides and back with a mahogany/maple/mahogany neck short 30 3/4" scale. Grover tuners, metal saddle bridge and Guild pickups. Comes with its case one key, hang tag and book. Any questions feel free to ask Can discuss options for delivery/collection etc4 points

Nee single from JH's new band. I'm not a Yes-head or anything (quite like some classic bits), but did enjoy this. Nice proggy few minutes. Love the bass and drums....Richie from BoC on fire as always. https://youtu.be/xn-kFz5ibGA?si=25N_yJ5hpRo0ITqH4 points

Nobody cares, and we are all going to die anyway! Why even bother playing? Quit while you got that choice, and use your time on something useful instead, like contemplating on who is going to pay for your funeral! You don't honestly want your tombstone, if you even get one, to say: "He played bass...", do you?4 points

I've seen these Jet Guitars in my local store (Merchant City Music) for a good while. Premium-Budget level strat and Tele copies with lovely looking roasted maple necks. Seem to get solid reviews as most of these £300ish super copies do these days, but they didnt do basses...until now. I know we don't really need another jazz bass on the market, but this gold does look ace3 points

What's going on my bass playing friends. Hope all is well with you's. I have here a stunning USA jazz that im reluctantly putting up for sale as it's basically a 1974 jazz bass without all the QC issues. Comes with a beautiful hardcase and has been a case queen since I bought it. Mainly as an actual '74 came up so this is sadly not being given the love it deserves. Comes with a Fender High Mass Bridge aswell Having to downsize due to moving to a smaller house. Thanks, Ru.3 points

I needed a simple lightweight and compact tilt back stand for my 1 x 10" Combo so that I could hear myself better. After a bit of thought, I made the stand shown in the photos from a piece of scrap 10mm MDF. The "v" is offset to provide 2 different tilt back angles to suit the stage layout - which is usually very cramped in a 20 piece big band or the corner of the bar for a jazz gig so my amp is usually tucked quite close to my side. It fits easily into my cable bag when dismantled and is stable when in use. The finish is furniture wax applied with fine wire wool.3 points

Well this proves that when people say "yes but can he play in a band?"... well yes he can and better than the rest of us! Quite an interesting video just to hear his thought process: "when there's fewer chords there's more riding on your bassline ability... it's just Am to D and a bridge..."3 points

So the neck arrived back earlier... spent a while admiring the job and turning it over in my hands. Strung and tuned up with 9's, waiting for it to settle before attempting a bit of trem balance, string height and intonation... BIG thanks to @Andyjr1515 on behalf of my Son... 'tis rather special.3 points

Looks pretty much the same to me, it's ok. Then again I don't like the bulbous Fender headstock really. Much better implementation here:3 points

Probably not. Me, I quite like the headstock of the D5 - with its cheeky nod to the '51 P headstock3 points

**** NOW SOLD **** For sale is my beautiful 2013 Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray SR4 3EQ Fretless with Pau Ferro fretboard. These basses need no introduction and are getting harder to find. Apart from one tiny knock as seen in the picture, the bass is in mint condition with no marks or grooves on the fretboard or buckle rash on the back. Just recently set up by The Bass Gallery, it is strung with a set of Rotosound Swing 66 Nickel rounds which is my favourite strings for all of my fretless basses. Plays and sounds amazing as expected and comes complete with the original hard case. I am based in Camberley in Surrey and any trial welcome. As for trades, I would be happy with one of the following, Fender American Vintage II 1954 Precision - Sunburst or Blonde Fender American Vintage II 1966 Jazz - Sunburst or White Fender American Vintage II 1960 Precision - Sunburst Fender Tony Franklin Fretless Precision Thank you for looking.2 points

F/s CORT GB75JJ 5 string £300 £340 inc case Putting this up for a friend of this parish who is not that familiar with selling on here. This is great bass in lovely condition that punches well above its price point, very light , even sound across the strings, good action , active passive . Very easy to play , no fret or neck issues …(I’m just not a five player) so she needs a good home. May be willing to split £300 for bass £50 for case Collection is from Stoke on Trent.Postage May be possible at buyers expense please pm me for further details. Also checkout my feedback for peace of mind. Specs Cort GB75JJ 5-String Bass - Amber SWAMP ASH BODY Swamp Ash is one of the most popular and widely-used woods for solid-body electric guitars and basses. It is light weight but has a surprisingly strong, tight and punchy sound with emphasis on the high-midrange. This character makes Swamp Ash a beloved tonewood of discriminating bassists who want a strong fundamental tone that will cut through and be heard clearly in the mix. The natural beauty of Swamp Ash with its distinctive grain patterns make it ideal for transparent and natural finishes. CANADIAN HARD MAPLE NECK The Canadian hard Maple neck provides power and stability as well as contributing a warm, beefy and punchy tone with a strong upper midrange. Dense and rigid yet with just the right amount of tactile flexibility, it responds sensitively to your picking attack and slapping techniques with plenty of articulation and power. VOICED TONE PICKUPS The new Voiced Tone J-style single-coil pickups perfectly complement the big robust acoustic sound of the bass with modern clarity, transparency and vintage warmth. Painstakingly developed by Cort's engineers by drawing on decades of pickup winding experience, the Voiced Tone pickups feature the highest-grade components and winding techniques to allow the natural character of the guitar to be faithfully delivered to the amp. OMEGA BRIDGE The bridge on a bass is a big deal. This is where the energy of the big vibrating strings is transferred into the body, playing a critical role in shaping the overall sound of the instrument. The Omega bridge is constructed of solid steel and machined with the highest level of precision for the utmost in functionality as well as sonic integrity. HIPSHOT ULTRALITE TUNERS The Hipshot Ultralite tuners address one major issue on many classic and modern electric basses: the weight which causes the instrument to be neck-heavy and not balance properly whether the player is playing sitting down or standing up with a strap. These tuners greatly reduce the weight while offering the superb level of tuning precision and stability. ERGONOMIC NECK JOINT Designed and implemented to facilitate easy access to the upper register of the fingerboard, the new Ergonomic Neck Joint increases playing comfort while reducing tendon stress and awkward wrist and finger positions. Now you can solo away and reach the highest notes with confidence as well as greatly improved playability. I'd vote for D'addario Prosteel as well. They certainly stay brighter for a lot longer than Rotos. A word of caution about Dunlop Super Brights... they are not super bright. I really like them. Definitely my favourite roundwound but nowhere near as bright as D'addarios or Rotos despite the name. Warwick steels are really bright and last well, but I do find them quite rough under the fingers. Mind you - I feel that way about Rotos too!2 points

Try D'Addario ProSteels. Last longer than Rotos but have plenty of punch/brightness/clank.2 points

I used an image generator to help create our last album cover. I asked for 4 men facing a setting sun in the style of Claude Monet. Chose this one from 16 options, some of which had 5 people. Our singer sometimes wears a hat like this. Had to remove a hat from one of the other 3, changed the colours completely by converting to b&w then recolouring the sun, and did some other tweaks. Added the text myself ( used Gimp for all the manipulation )2 points

"time-based" referring to effects the use a delayed signal like chorus or flange don;t work, it fares very well with EQ and frequency based systems and overdrives, especially valve, but not so well with fuzz, although it does work. I've captured pre-amps and amps, done some amp/cab combos and they sound good, there is some variation available in terms of gain and EQ, but it v=certainly won't give you the option for a bright switch setting or the like. It's better than an approximation, as it definitely conveys the character of the unit being captured to useable effect, but as you noted in an earlier post, if you want radically differing tones from a unit, it's best to take separate captures. The QC has so much processing, that you can use multiple captures across multiple channels without issues.2 points

I’m pretty much finished building my new fly board but I have a little bit of space on the lower deck of the board for some kind of micro pedal. I’m looking for something to fill that space that I don’t need to access often, like an always on pedal. Set it and forget it kind of thing. Does anyone have any suggestions of something that could fit in that little space? Signal path for those that are interested…. Harmonic Booster (always on) > Eons > Infinity > Julia > Delverb > Looper > Element. I use the tuner and compressor on the Infinity so not really looking for a separate pedal for those needs2 points

Where to start, I've got so many that I've modified in one way or another. Apparently the beginning is a very good place so this is the first bass that got some serious work. It started life as a black Line6 Variax 700. This isn't mine but this is how it looked. Changes to headstock shape, tuners, fret markers, colour, binding, f hole, pickguard shape and bridge cover. Ended up like this, Build diary here if interested but unfortunately most of the pictures went missing when Photobucket decided they wanted paying.2 points

That Jet looks a lot like a Harley Benton 25th anniversary Firemist but they've changed the peghead slightly, sharpened the horns a wee bit then omitted the gigbag while adding £100 to the price. You're right we don't need another jazz bass 🤣2 points

I wish I could afford having a tremolo fitted on my bass. Or well, I suppose it would be a question of priority, but just so much other musical equipment that is higher on my wish list/more important to me. But really cool. And I've always wanted a bass with a tremolo system. Especially useful as how I mainly play my bass, that is tuned to tenor bass tuning (A1 standard tuning, or thereabout), and played accordingly.1 point

Thanks both! Plenty for me to look into. I have a fair bit of experience in the CAD side at least, but checked and my version of Catia is well out of date and prices of new versions are very high for the use I would get from it. Will check with work in case we have any already suited I could use, otherwise it will be open access stuff for now.1 point
