Lakland Skyline 55-02 Deluxe in Translucent Purple - £975 (INCLUDING Lightweight Hardcase & UK Delivery) - Stunning, high-end 5 String 35” Scale Lakland Deluxe bass, the “Deluxe” part meaning it is made with premium tone-woods (Ash Body, Quilted Maple Top, Maple Neck & Ebony Fretboard) - One of the most versatile basses around with MM/J pickup config and coil tap switch for the bridge humbucker MM pickup giving you 3 options, splitting the coil in 2. - 1st position is top row of coils only activated (60’s Jazz Bass bridge pickup position) 2nd position is the bottom row of coils activated (70’s Jazz Bass bridge pickup position) and 3rd position is both rows of coils activated, which is ‘Stingray mode’ - Disclaimer: It doesn’t sound exactly like a Stingray! 😆 But you can get pretty close and it’s still a really funky sound in its own right anyway - Bass is in fantastic condition, not really been gigged much by me and the finish remains perfectly in tact - visually it’s a stunning bass and a real eye catcher that gets loads of comments about the looks as well as how it sounds - Ebony Fretboard on a Flat sawn Maple neck with a satin finish, which as is the case with almost all Lakland’s, it is extremely comfortable to play - Finished in stunning translucent purple with no chips or dents in it. The finish allows you to see the grain of the wood, with the Ash at the back & sides contrasting beautifully with the Quilted Maple veneer on the top (**See pics below for close ups of grain/finish 😍**) - Premium Lakland LH3 Electronics (3B boost & cut Preamp & MM/J Pickup config with coil tap switch as explained above) Really great musical sounding preamp, Bass is set at a very useful 125hz and the mids can be selected from 18 different available frequencies between 275hz & 1100hz using the dip switches in the control cavity - The Lakland LH3 pickups are really great sounding and are made to work with the LH3 preamp so the obviously sound great together. One of the best testaments to the LH3 pickups is that you virtually never see a 55-02 that has had modified pickups, because there’s very little out there you can get that’ll make any measurable improvement and there’s no reason to as the LH3 ones are schweeeeet! 😁 - 35” Scale gives you a really great sounding low B string, as all the 35” scale Lakland’s are famous for. Strings can be done through the body or through the bridge. - As this is the “Deluxe” model it comes with pretty much everything the US 55/94 Model comes with, which is all the premium tonewoods as already mentioned, flatsawn maple neck with Graphite Reinforcement Bars, and the premium electronics as mentioned above Im sad to let this go, but I have very much priced it to sell. This isn’t an average 55-02 that’s been gigged hard with standard features - it’s a top end Lakland made with the same premium parts as the US models, and it is then sent to the US for final QC, so apart from the assembly in the far east, I really to struggle to see what the value is in a US model at 3 x the price of this £975 [inc case & UK shipping!] **Includes a lightweight hardcase/semi hardcase (like a hard foam type case - anyway It’s brand new and Is absolutely perfect to ship it in as it’s light but will protect the bass!) AND U.K. Shipping!** Not really looking for trades, however if you do have something you think I’d be interested in drop me a message with it and the worst I can say is “No Thanks” The only Trades I have in mind currently that I’d seriously look at are: - Sadowsky MetroExpress (Made in China) as a PX with cash my way, Or - Straight swap for a Yamaha BBP35 (MIJ), …but I can be pretty susceptible to a Deal 😁 so feel free to try me! Jaydee Bass Guitar, Roadie Active Model in 4 String - Serial Number 01064. I have had this bass overhauled by my guitar tech, pots, electronics all perfect, hardware all cleaned and like new to be honest. Side/Front Red LEDS are fitted and all working great. This was a customer order with JD and the neck is very thin and so much more playable.. A great bass, sad to see her go but I have needed to move to 5 string basses for work and so I can't have her sitting in the studio not being played in the case. Comes with a gator hard flight case too! To get one of these new (which in my view aren't the same) you'll wait around 2+ years to get the bass made... you can have one right now so get in touch!!9 points

I felt I needed another good, great five string Jazz. I have a Lakland USA JO that I absolutely adore, and a befriended bass player has a 5 string USA JO that is also brilliant, so 1 and 1 makes 2: I needed a JO5. Found one from 2003 in Poland, had it shipped to Amsterdam, and it arrived within two days (which is really really fast in my book). The case was clearly used, but the bass is in pretty good nick. Has some bucklewear, but the frets are okay, the neck is nicely worn in and the overall feel is fantastic, as you'd expect from a bass from that price range. Haven't plugged it in yet because it arrived pretty late last night, but I already love this bass. Extra plus: it's pretty light.6 points

This SX Streamer Jazzman came home with me earlier in the week, I like it, very light, good range of tones, although the Jazz pickup is a bit weak by itself. Might have been sat in the shop a while as I note they've since changed the headstock design.. Normally I'm a P bass with flats man but this brought out my best impression of Mark King..6 points

This is the last bass I have that I’m selling. It’s a 1990-1991 Squier Japan Precision. The bass has been professionally set up, the pots have and jack socket have been replaced and it’s got a new set of D’Addarrio Chromes on it. The bass has wear and tear and has been used. The vintage frets are quite low as I’ve tried to picture. There are marks on the back of the neck and the bass finish has scratches as you’d expect. I guess you’d class it as vintage nowadays… The bass is light (will weight it tomorrow) and has a very narrow jazz bass style neck. I can add a soft case. Collection is preferred, but I can now post. So lately I’ve been playing all my basses on rotation. Precisions with maple and rosewood, Jazzes with maple and rosewood, and Mustangs with rosewood (both Precision & Jazz width neck). The result being that after years of being a Precision with maple strung with steel rounds man I’m now def a Mustang with Jazz width neck strung with nickels man, I’m finding it much easier to play and I’m getting a sound that’s much more pleasing to my ears. Whoda thunk it!5 points

My favourite bass is my 2003 Warwick Corvette Standard. I’ve owned it for 17 years, and I’m sure it’s got some magic in it. I’ve had other Corvette Standards, and I’ve got other ‘nicer’ and ‘fancier’ Corvettes, but this one is special. Maybe it’s just the nostalgia of being my first ‘Wick, but I love it. It didn’t have the most careful first owner, and it’s not exactly been a garage queen with me, and it had picked up plenty of scratches and dents along the way. I decided that I wanted it to look as good as it feels, so I started cooking up a plan. First of all, I stripped it down. Without any hardware, the Swamp Ash body and neck felt astonishingly light - I was tempted to see if I could throw it over the roof of the house! (Even with hardware, it’s only around 3.6kg/8lbs.) Then I set about making a scratchplate. Having never done this before, my favourite bass seemed like the right place to start. Now I know that Warwick sell pickguards for Streamers, and I like the idea but I’ve always felt that they weren’t quite the right shape, so I drew out my own on a piece of cereal box. I then photocopied it, glued the piece of paper to a piece of 6mm ply and rough cut it out with a jigsaw. I did lots of drilling and hand filing to get the neck pocket and pickup hole right… …and then did the same for the outer edge. Then I borrowed a router from a friend, and had my first ever go at routing cutting the scratchplate out of 4-ply pearloid, and putting the 45 degree bevel on. It didn’t come out exactly perfect, but it’s not far off. (This picture is before further refinement with sandpaper, and although it’s still not perfect, it’s a bit better). After then, I took it to Rob at Manton Customs who added pearloid blocks and refretted it. There’s a lovely YouTube video about it, which I found slightly disturbing to watch - it’s not every day you get to see someone taking a chisel to one of your favourite possessions! He does beautiful work, and he’s a lovely chap to boot. Then I took it to Dave Wilson for paint, and it turned out beautifully (as expected!). I also went for a matching headstock, and took the opportunity to swap my broken Just-A-Nut II for a shiny brass JAN III. Then it was just a case of reassembly (most of which Dave did) to see what it all looked like! And a bonus pic with my ‘05 Ltd Ed. I know it won’t be to everyone’s taste, but I’m happy!4 points

Re first paragraph, you don’t get it do you? Re second paragraph, this was all done 10 years ago. Whatever your motivation for continuing with the farce and posting about doing so, it’s not a public service. You should take him to court, seek full repayment, and whatever the outcome, move on.4 points

SOLD Price drop to £475 For sale, absolutely no trade offers whatsoever please, and yes I really mean that. 2021 Fender Player 75th anniversary Precision bass, in black / black / maple, 34” long scale, right handed, with upgraded pickups, knobs & wiring, and gig bag. Before I go any further as I know how important this can be, it weighs 3.9Kg / 8.6lbs on my digital luggage scale. It’s still a big ol’ chunk of wood, but lighter than every USA P I’ve had and balances well. It’s in excellent condition as you can see from the photos, has been well looked after (always in hard case when not being played) & is very shiny! There are no dings, paint chips, chunks out of the neck or headstock nibbles. The only minor cosmetic blemishes are: some scratching on the pickguard, 3 longish scratches on the back of the body below the cutaway (very hard to show well on photos as the body is so shiny that it just acts as a mirror!), and some small scratches looking down from the top of the body towards the pickguard, where I tried a trick I read about, which was to slightly unscrew 2 pickguard screws and slide a pick into the gap. I put a Tortex wedge in there, then when I slid it out, that powdery coating stuff that’s on them when new left these scratch marks on the body (I won’t be doing that again!). I’m guessing these may be able to be polished out by someone who knows what they’re doing, but if you know anything about black basses, these marks really aren’t that bad compared to the battle scars than can and do end up on them, and only really noticeable in certain lights / angles anyway, but I’d rather mention these minor blemishes as I pride myself in honest descriptions. It has a really lovely gloss poly maple fingerboard with nice fast satin urethane finish on the back of the neck. Usual 1.625” P width nut. The neck profile is fantastic, and always felt ‘just right’ to me. It’s not scrawny, but far from baseball bat territory, very comfy on the hands. Front to back, with digital calipers, it measures 0.825” at the 1st fret, and 0.905” at the 12th fret. I’d say it’s the nicest Precision neck I’ve ever played, and this includes USA models. The fretboard edges are nicely rounded and smooth. I know this isn’t always the case with Mexican Ps, but it genuinely feels as smooth and round as a USA neck to me. I’m actually quite sad to see it go generally, but especially for how nicely the neck plays. It has a Fender 75th anniversary logo on the back of the headstock, which is a nice touch. It’s strung with GHS Pressurewound M7200 (44-106) rollerwound ‘Alloy 52’ strings with plenty of life left in them. They are smooth and really sing. If you don’t want them, I can keep them & put some nickel rounds on instead, just let me know. Stock open gear tuners & bridge. Pickups have been upgraded to the excellent Fender Custom Shop CS62s. Box included. Wiring upgraded to USA specs via a Northwest Guitars Precision bass wiring kit: 250K CTS pots, 0.047uf orange drop capacitor & switchcraft jack. Great full range of tones compared to the stock pots. Knobs upgraded to Fender Tele / P chrome, knurled flat top knobs (099-13600-000) to fit the 1/4 inch pots, as the stock knobs were slippery & not very good. It has a non Fender 3-ply BWB pickguard. Please note I no longer have the stock pickups, wiring, knobs & pickguard, so these are not included in the sale. Feel free to check my Basschat feedback & PM me if you want to buy it or need more photos. It’s set up with a nice low to medium action & the truss rod turns as it should. It’s sold as seen and described, with the inspection tag but otherwise no paperwork or tools. Serial number shows 2021, I’ve run it through the Fender serial number lookup, and it shows as registered May 2021, see photos for spec sheet. I bought this bass in person from an eBay seller in January 2023, her son got it new & had barely played it as ended up with a different bass. They even kept the tag, which is included here. I paid £480 for this, and have spent £145 on upgrades (pickups 100, wiring loom, pots & knobs 45). It hasn’t been heavily gigged, so I think £575 is a fair price for a great condition P bass with top upgrades (& a free gig bag). I’d go as far as to say that this upgraded beast with a delightful neck and relatively light weight (for a Precision) is an outrageous bargain considering the price of a new American Pro 2 these days. I’ve owned this for a year and a half, which is quite something given the basses that have ‘passed through’ the last few years. Every time I tried anything (including dabbling in short scale), I always came back to this one. I’m a little sad to be selling it, as it’s easily as good as any USA P I’ve had, but my holy grail bass has finally come up, so I have no choice. If money wasn’t an issue (it is), I’d love to be keeping it. I’m certain that someone will be very happy with this bass. I have no box or packing materials, so am listing this as collection only from Southport. I work near St. Helens, so could meet up in that area too, or somewhere in the North West within reason. There is no hard case included in the sale, but I can hand it over in a basic padded gig bag, which from doing a lot of googling I think is a Traditional Strat / Tele bag, it fits fine, but has no straps even though there are clips for them, just carry handles, 8mm padding and a pocket. No timewasters please and absolutely no trade offers whatsoever. Hoping to sell this to an established Basschatter. Edit: Sorry must have missed this when posted the ad, think I caught this partially on one pic, but forgot to mention it, there is a 1cm scratch / scrape mark on the floor-facing edge of the lower horn, just added a final pic showing it. Not visible when playing unless you plan on playing it upside down!3 points

The breakup sound on this new Ebs black haze 2 is incredible, my new favourite drive. Used it at practice and it sounds superb in the mix. Kind of reminds me of the Ashdown hyperdrive when dialed in ...but way more beef (not as thin as the HD) it does something great to the mids .highly recommend 👌3 points

Time for another Nineteen Eighty-Four quote? The tune had been haunting London for weeks past. It was one of countless similar songs published for the benefit of the proles by a sub-section of the Music Department. The words of these songs were composed without any human intervention whatever on an instrument known as a versificator.3 points

Electronic drumkit, was given to us to see if my son would be at all interested. He absolutely is not and I would like the space back. Fully working, can plug in headphones or we've tried it piped into the aux input of a guitar combo. I believe you can get MIDI out too but I've not tried. No throne or stool but will include a set of sticks. Happy to take more/better photos if there's any interest. Free to anyone who can collect from Glasgow G51. No postage on this, sorry.2 points

Here's my Ibanez SR655 in Antique Brown Stain. I've had it a couple of years as a backup, seen a few practices and home use. There's a bit of wear under the strings that I've pointed out in one of the pictures, but its in great condition otherwise. Everything works as it should. This link contains a load of details on it https://ibanez.fandom.com/wiki/SR655. I had a Darkglass Tone Capsule installed instead of the usual Ibanez electronics - a very good preamp. That, combined with the PJ pickup configuration makes it a versatile bass. I'll include the original Ibanez one in the sale. Its wearing a Dimarzio Cliplock strap currently, which will be included in the sale. I am currently hunting around for the original strap buttons and will include in the sale if I turn them up in time! Happy to post at buyers expense. Get in touch if any further info needed, thanks for looking!2 points

I bought a splendid bass from Matt, to come from Aberdeen to France, via one of my brothers in the UK. Collected from Aberdeen by Parcelforce 26/06, arrived Shepperton 27/06, in perfect condition; can't get much better than that..! Thanks, Matt, for the opportunity, your excellent comms, great packaging, timely expedition and altogether Good Humour. It has been a pleasure; I recommend this fellow as an official Good Egg.2 points

Apples and oranges though really… SA connectivity is more modern with USB and TRS MIDI, dedicated expression input, stereo I/O, fully assignable panel controls and their very slick user preset platform; I’m sure some of this price reflects the huge financial investment they’ve put into Neuro 3 over the past couple of years, which is free to end users.2 points

Well I've now had the bass for about a week and have played it most days including a full 3hr session at practice last night. Overall I find it to be a really good jazz bass indeed. My only direct frame of reference in terms of a 70s spacing is my former Geddy Lee Ltd Edn Japanese Jazz. Possibly also an ACG J Type that has the same spacing but is a rather different beast. The bass is still absolutely stock including the strings it arrived with and they sound pretty good so I am wondering whether the retailer also changed them when they set the bass up. Compared to the Geddy Lee bass the JJB-300 really isn't far behind at all. I'd say maybe slightly less 'richer' in sounding in terms of it having slightly less deep bass to my ears. We're really not talking tinny, just a fraction less depth. The roasted maple neck for me is actually considerably better as I'm not a massive fan of the heavily lacquered gloss necks. It's not as super skinny as the Geddy but that also suits my large hands! The band loved it and the colour was also a source of comment. The pickups are quite lively and the bass is certainly no shrinking violet and the rosewood fretboard now looks lush after my lemon oil treatment as well. The tuners are a little stiff, but I've not yet had a play with the tensioning screws so I may be able to fix that easily. They hold tune well so hopefully no need to do anything else in this space. I'm not sure how heavy they are but I'll take one out and weight it when I have a moment. I think the bass would also be a good modding platform. The things that I was thinking about (mostly before I had given the bass a chance to shine) were any permutation or combination of the following: KiOgon loom (obvs) Different p/guard. Possibly black or parchment but, maybe more interesting to add a brown tort item. Not that the red tort looks bad but I think brown tort would just be the mutt's nuts. Clearly loads of pickup options and I was thinking about EMG Js Tuners, but only if I can't get the original fit items adjusted to my liking. However after a week with the bass I think it sounds pretty good as is and maybe just a higher quality loom is what's needed. Possibly an alternative pickguard too. All in all I have spend more money on used Jazz basses that have not been as good as this one. I love it and I can't see it going anywhere soon tbh. It would, however, be great to hear what a proper player/reviewer like our very own @Dood would make of it. Either way I hope that is helpful to you good people.2 points

Set up my Sire V5 yesterday. Neck relief, string height, intonation, Pup height etc. Now all to Fenderesq specs. BIG difference. Now plays very well indeed and sounds better. I'll get a few more miles out of the strings and then replace them with D'adarrio NYXLs strung through the body so that it's comparable to my other basses and post an update. Still not a fan of the black plastic knobs or the insertion loss, but I'm not sure that most people would find that a problem. So lots to like!!2 points

I have used these extensively but I no longer play large enough venues to justify keeping them given that I need to create some space. 1212L 800w 4ohms 19kg 60cmx40cmx4cm 1210L 700w 4ohms 18kg 60cmx40cmx40cm Both have signs of wear and tear but this is mainly caused by the rubber feet affecting the paint when they have been stacked. These are seriously loud and I am reluctantly letting them go. Ian2 points

I have a few basses which just sit in their gigbags mostly , and in all honesty should be used by gigging musicians . I just potter about with my synths , and pick up one of my other basses occasionally when I get the urge . This is the best of the bunch , in terms of feel and lightness . This is a Warwick 1996 Bolt on neck , EMG Pickups with originals included done by previous owner. . It is an active bass.9v battery. The battery cover has a little scratch on it , but that's me being particular . The body is Bubinga, neck wood wenge with Warwick bronze frets . Weight 3.792 kg/ 8.36 pounds . Slight wear around pickups which have to be expected for a 28 year old bass. It comes with Warwick surface finisher polish and cloth , plus Fender clip on strap. Plus the Novini gigbag is also included. price obviously not set in stone , and offers condiered etc. Trades : Steinberger synapse 4 or 5 string . Ibanez headless etc .Badz maru bass Desktop synths . I don't mind keeping it , but it seems a waste doing so . No packing materials and never posted a bass ,so collection only .Could meet southwest up to Brockenhurst ( swt pending etc ) Thanking you1 point
