Stunning sr1200 with a gloss figured top, plays beautifully (ramp not included). Its actually my main bass, but you know how GAS is! It’s in great condition but not pristine, I gig it every weekend, there’s small chip on the back of the headstock a minor dent on the front that’s very hard to picture and wear to the rear, (more pics to follow.) Collected from Cheltenham or close meet. I’ve owned over 300 basses and this THE best, I just have a serious case of GAS! The fancy Ibanez case is included. £400 or Ono for a quick sale) It also has a hip shot, (silver) I can remove to reduce the cost by £50. I still have the original gold tuner. I have now had a personal crisis and will let this go for £400 collected8 points

After not owning a Spector for about 10 years or more and missing the 2008 trans blue Euro LX 4 I had, I bought this last week. It's a 2018 Euro LX 4 with a zebrano top. It's like new, came with a custom Swann case and Schaller strap locks. It's been a complete case queen since day 1. I set it up as it hadn't been touched since leavingthe factory. I kept the original strings on it as they are like new. I tweaked the Tonepump so it's now sweet and that's it. These things are phenomenal. I know nothing about these zebrano versions, so if anyone knows whether it was an option or if they were special runs, that would be interesting. What can I say? It's a peach.7 points

For sale is my original Gibson G3 bass from 1974/1975. It’s a great playing bass with a very nice sound of it’s own; clear and growly. A few of the pickup screws have been replaced. The frets show wear, but the bass plays fine with a comfortable action. All hardware and electronics work like they should. The neck is straight and the truss rod works fine. It’s a very light bass with it’s 3,5kg! The original branded hardcase is included. It’s in need of repair though as it is missing a few latches. The original bridge cover is also still present! Asking €2100 I am located in the Netherlands, but happy to ship at buyers risk. (I'll add another picture with username on paper later on. The one I made doesn't come out readable;) )7 points

So it’s been a while since anything new came into Rayman towers. So between Xmas and New Year I treated myself to a new project….. a Hohner Pro JJ bass. It was dirty, set up like a dog, terrible action and most irritatingly (after I specifically asked the seller if it all worked as it should, he told me it did, he lied), the active electronics weren’t firing on all cylinders. So, after a deep clean, a new CTS pot for the neck pup and a new trim pot for the circuit board (that was fiddly, but a relatively straightforward fix), new strings, new gold control knobs and a nice setup (lovely low action), this thing is an absolute joy to play. ‘90/91 I’m guessing, Cort factory in Korea, it’s a quality instrument. Lovely frets, very comfortable and I think it looks awesome. It’s easily as good as anything sub 1K new, easily. Very impressed indeed. A really really great bass, and it sounds killer too, massive dubby low end and sparkly highs, what else do you want? My plan was to flip it on, but I dunno, I think I’ll keep it for now. I haven’t put it down since it was finished.6 points

Hi! I’m selling this beautiful example of an early 90’s Warwick bass. Legendary sound and craftsmanship. The bass is in great condition with only minor scratches & marks due to its age. Frets are in good condition with no pitting or issues. Truss rod is in full working order. The neck is the super slim profile that Warwick used until the late 90’s. The bass has a set of EMG J-style pickups and an EMG 18v pre-amp fitted with 2 volumes & a stacked bass/treble control. This was fitted already when I purchased the bass. This bass also comes with Protection Racket Case worth £90. Specs: Year: 1991 Body: Bubinga Neck: Bubinga / Wenge Fingerboard: Wenge Pickups: EMG Pre-amp: EMG Frets: 26 Scale: 34” This is also listed on Ebay.5 points

Here is my lovely, excellent 2020 Squier Paranormal Jazz Bass in vintage Butterscotch Blonde. It really is lovely and l can’t find a mark on it. It plays sounds and looks really lovely with a nice low action and plenty of tonal variation. It comes in a nearly new no name but very good hard case. It came with a black scratch plate and I've put on a white marble effect one. No additional holes needed. I don't want any trades thanks I'm still struggling with Arthritis and got this for one last try. I live in Catterick near Richmond, North Yorkshire and prefer cash on collection. I will box up securely for courier if you arrange it. I would like £300 ONO please. .4 points

Gave my " Leader" 90's bass a cleanup and checkup today. Couldn't find anything on the internet anymore, so "posting time" (well over 30 years old). It is a bass from a Dutch builder, v.d.Hoeven from 's-Hertogenbosch. The small, somewhat "strange" body contains hollow resonance spaces and is therefore very light. While playing, the headstock could feel to tip over a little bit, but nothing serious. Shaller hardware, EMG pickup and preamp. Neck Thru:maple/Boire Body: Boire Fingerboard: Ebony it is not to everyone's taste, but plays easily and has a great sound. The basses where build as i know for a short time (end 80's begin 90's).4 points

I switched on eBay on Sunday night to check my saved searches...... and I couldn't believe my luck..... A mint condition, 2024 Epiphone Grabber, with it's soft case, had just been listed at £499 Buy It Now with free shipping! An 'excellent feedback' seller too! I really wanted one of these when they were released, but there was no way I was gonna spend £900+ on an Epiphone so, when I saw this, it was a no-brainer! It arrived today, exactly as described..... and I'm thrilled 😎4 points

Fender American Deluxe Precision Bass V, with sunburst finish and maple fretboard This is a mid 2000s model with the humbucker in the bridge. 18v preamp. Knobs are Volume, pickup blend, 2 band EQ using the stacked pots and a Mid boost/cut. Weight according to my bathroom scales is 4.5kg. has a slightly smaller body than a regular P bass and is very well balanced so the weight is much more comfortable than you would think! Comes with a Fender hard case as pictured. I don't have the key to the case however. Some cosmetic marks on the body, and around the Truss rod adjustment on the pickguard as pictured. Also one of the string ferrules at the back disappeared at some point. I have attached as many pictures as I could of any imperfections but feel free to ask if I have missed something out Sounds like an active P bass! The bridge pickup has more of a J sound than a humbucker and it blends with the split pickup really nicely. B string is fantastic! As per the Stingray I previously sold, this is for sale as the owner, my uncle, passed away and wanted his instruments to continue to be played. I have kept two from his collection but I really can't justify having all of them! There will be more coming up for sale soon. Collection preferred, but I could meet part way depending on distance, I'm based in Northamptonshire. Thanks for looking!3 points

Recently took this in trade for a guitar I had. Its actually really bloody nice, we had some radio and Acoustic stuff lined up but now we’re going to record our album after inheriting a Mac and I need to buy some bits and bobs for that… So, this is now without a use - seems a shame. Nice preamp, in built tuner. Comes with padded gigbag. Collection preferred but shipping possible with the caveat being that it’s at buyers choice/risk. No need for trades…unless it’s a Danelectro 34” or baritone… Trying to upload pics, but getting nowhere due to signal issues.3 points

Stay strong on the path, brother. In other news the UK apparently might have a GAS shortage, so if we don't buy anything we could perhaps use our pent-up gas to help keep the country warm?3 points

I went to see VM at Hull City Hall in the early 80’s. He didn’t once communicate with the audience and sat on a stool for most of the gig, randomly picking up a guitar or an alto sax occasionally ( and being pretty dreadful on both IIRC ). Thinking he must have been having an ‘off day’ and being a fan of his stuff, I booked to see him again a year or so later at the same venue. He was exactly the same then too. 😆3 points

Frankly, being a fan of both, I think thats a bit verbose for Van!3 points

Back rehearsing after the Christmas break and picking up where we left off. Last year ended with the new drummer bedding in nicely, we're rehearsing in his studio which is within walking distance 👍🏻 We went through our originals set plus the Christmas song we wrote back in November. Just before the last song there was a pause so I just started noodling on me bass to keep the fingers warm and one by one everyone joined in...low and behold we have our first song nugget of '25. I thought afterwards that I've been listening to the Word Up album (Cameo) recently and that must be where the sparse, staccato sound came from. With Jon rapping and singing on top it sounds a bit Chili Peppersish 🫣 early days, early days 😄 Those are some of my favourite rehearsal moments, when a song idea comes to life. I'm playing through a similar amp/cab set up to @mikebass456 in the pic back up the thread, sounds ace... I now have rig envy as it's the drummer's3 points

Upgrade your musicman style bass. Norstrand big split man 4 and John East MMSR4 knob three band with Bell plate. The bell plate apparently drops straight into a music man Stirling or OLP bass.q New, this combo would cost you about £430. £250 delivered to UK only, or collected for discount bought for a project that I lost interest in. only trade option would be a sterling ray 34.2 points

NOW 1899! Hi all! Selling this beauty, just bc I miss parallel frets. It is in very good condition. Very comfortable to play, and a low action can be achieved easily, if wanted. The bass sounds even across all frets and the craftmanship is on top level. Sound wise it is very versatile, somehow a Jazz on steroids on a bit more modern approach. Specs from the manufacturer: Radius 20′′ Wood – Neck Maple / 1ply – Two Carbon Rods Wood – Fretboard Ebony Wood – Headstock Eye Poplar 3A Markers Side – SB-20 / Super Blue Dots Markers Front Plain Fretboard Frets Ferd Wagner Nickel Silver / 2.80×1.47 Version – Multiscale / VFret Construction Bolt-On Scale Bass Multiscale 33/35 Bass 5 String Wood – Top Eye Poplar 3A Wood – Body Swamp Ash Config – Pickups H-H Config – Rear cavities Battery compartment Color – Body (top) Transparent Black Satin Color – Body (back) Trans Natural Satin Color – Neck Trans Natural Matt Color – Headstock Transparent Black Satin Electronics Darkglass Tone Capsule, Vol PP Active-Passive, Bal, Hi mids, Mids, Bass Switchcraft Jack Pickups – Aguilar DCB G5 Neck and Bridge Single Saddle Bridge 5 Tuners – Bass Hipshot Ultralite Clover / Chrome / 4 + 1 Plates & Shields No control plate Nut Plastic Accessories – Colour Black Additional Equipment Schaller Security Lock / Chrome I fitted a ramp made out of ebony, this was done by the bass gallery in London. It is of course removable. It comes with the original branded Mayones Gigbag ( Mono ) and all papers. The trussrod works fine, though the nut is a bit worn out, thanks to the previous owner, but with the right allen key ( which I include ) it works totally fine. Never had any problems. Shipping is no problem, local pickup is preferred though. Important note: I am away from 18/12 to 09/01. I will answer all questions, but shipping will be possible in the new year only.2 points

I have one of these, I've modded it over the years and the body is the only original part though as I never liked the pickups or preamp. Not a fan of gold hardware either so I went all black but that veneer is beautiful.2 points

This three10 really intrigues me. I've had a BF six10 and currently run 2 x BFtwo10 switchable cabs that give me enormous flexibility and I've never needed more but I do like what Alex does. I can see a three10 on the cards one day.2 points

The first boutique bass I've ever played was a Pedulla-like fretless by Dutch luthier André van der End. Every since then, I've wanted to own a bass by him, particularly with a walnut top and maple fretboard. A few years back, I bought a blue fiver by him. Didn't really get on with the sound, so I sold it. And then last week, just as I was selling two other basses, this walnut top, maple fretboard fiver turned up on a second hand website in Belgium. I had to have it. So yesterday I drove to Belgium and took it home. It's not light, but it's pretty darn awesome. Ash body, pickups and preamp by André himself, birdseye maple neck.2 points

What are these 'rehearsals' you speak of? Not had one of those in a few years...pretty much after a project band who looooved to rehearse (and we sounded very good in rehearsals), but when it came to live gigs...not so much in either quantity or quality... Having said that, I've got one on Wednesday for a new band lineup, I'm not expecting too many more before we get out gigging.2 points

Yes - I do the same. I look for a 'just perceptible' movement of the string when tapped in the middle between the 1st and 15th/16th. Basically, I'm aiming for a fretboard as flat as possible...but without any back bow. And the only way of knowing for sure that there is no backbow is if you have a 'just perceptible' gap signifying a teeny bow-and-arrow forward bow. I know of no reason why the relief would need to be different with a different fretboard radius for a bass unless - perhaps - the player does string multi-semitone string bends on a tight radius fretboard.2 points

The wonderful late Mo Foster did something similar, following the publication of his semi-memoir "Seventeen Watts?" (published in the US as "Play Like Elvis!"), which incidentally is a great read and I encourage everyone to grab a copy if you see it for sale. Mo was a lovely chap, and his talks were more in the form of raconteur & anecdotist than stand-up. I had a lovely chat with him following his Hungerford show and he couldn't have been more friendly. One of the absolute diamond geezers of our instrument, and much missed.2 points

Last night was Virus, The Blunders and Subhumans at The Exchange in Bristol. Virus opened with an excellent performance, great sound and plenty of energy. The Blunders went on second. Always a great performance. Punk with a hint of ska and relentless driving rhythms. One to dance to rather than mosh to. Subhumans were really excellent. Anarcho punk with plenty of political rage. A ton of energy from a bunch of old blokes. An excellent night.2 points

It's certainly a solid and compact rig - considering the relative small size of the cabs, I usually find I have to wind the bass control down in a lot of places we play. I have the first version of the Terror 500 head, with one of the second versions as a backup. For some reason I find the first version better - the upgrades on version two just seem to make it more 'polite' for want of a better word....... I don't think the cabs are produced anymore either, which is a shame as they really come into their own at 2am on a December morning loading back into the van down a fire escape..........2 points
-
Yep those are the ones, I had some 12's Mine had aluminium voice coils and the aluminium wire corroded creating a dry joint leading to speaker failure. Your BN10-300 is a much better speaker and quite expensive hence recommending the Pulse 10. I've used both. You can get all the specs for these speakers so if you want to fit anything like these we can do the calculations and you can potentially tweak the cab to match the speaker2 points

Think I'm finished for now. Spent a bit of time on my gospel board today. Boss TU-3>Cry Baby 105Q Mini Wah>Boss NS-2>LOOP SEND>Boss OD-200>Zoom MS-60b>Caline SP-24>LOOP RETURN>Sonicake Levitate. Large Rockhouse flat board, EBS Solder-free patch cables, Joyo JP-02 power supply. All going into a Sadowsky SBP-1 and GSS Baby Sumo, and 2 x Trace Elliot 110 cabs. When I get paid I might upgrade the power supply but it's quiet, nothing sucks tone, it's neat and I've got plenty of options.2 points

My latest big board for my fusion band (i break it down to a smaller one for the rock band) Bright onion input/output box Sadowsky BP2 preamp/DI - for use with my passive basses, adds a nice bit of depth and clarity when set right, it doesnt change the character of the bass. Small tuner plugged into tuner out. Origin effects - Cali76 compact bass, the 1st version, i like the pop and sheen that it adds, its a subtle compressor, but tames the slaps and enhances my tone (especially since i moved to Markbass) Into a Boss LS2 - the most useful pedal in the world, it gives me so many options Channel A MXR Bass Octave Deluxe - its small and sounds great, and tracks really well, its set with more Girth for a deeper "octabass" style tone, with clean added its my standard octave tone. Zvez Mastatron - Gated fuzz that works great with all basses, used for synth tones, with a high gate, and least amount of subs, as usually used with an octave. EBS Bass IQ - envelope filter, v2 ive just got another (theyve shot up in price) as ive tried most and this is my favourite. Very usable Down sweep for Moog sounds, and triggers really well, High Q Is great for funky mutronish tones or part of a synth. Ive set a good amount of clean high end in via the trimpot, adds to note definition. MXR Phase 99 - The classic phase 90 x2 in one box, the two phasers can be used in series or parallel, and set with contrasting speeds, it can get very wild and funky, or set in synch which is very thick and adds gain to the signal, it has the "script" switch, for vintage/modern phase tones, orange sparkle too!! Channel B Boss OC2 - set without the clean signal for the "Jo jo Mayer" sound, i hadnt had one in years, i now remember why every bassist should have one. I add this classic sound in parallel via the LS2 to the Mastatron and Bass IQ as well as the phaser. Frederic effects Bugcrusher - Based on the Bugbrandits an analog sample rate reducer, very funky and percussive sounding pedal, you can almost get clavinet style tones, as well as ring mod like madness, it has a blend to keep some sanity. Ive tried many of these type of effects, and this is a very musical pedal. I use is with the OC2 for the "Baby elephant" tone as well as in parallel with the MXR Octave.2 points
