  1. Sadowsky UV60 in Sherwood Green. Beautiful bass! Slight paint ding on the front of the bass as per pics, but otherwise in great condition. Made in Japan in 2017. Sounds outrageous as you'd expect. Collection from Margate preferred.

  4. In situations like this, I always have to remind myself that I'll get over the money (it was only €80,-), but he will wake up every day being a c**t. Which of us is worse off?

  5. Well, they look pretty good. Not sure about Paulownia as a body wood, but we'll see. The Growler will always be legendary thanks to Windows XP:

  7. Fender Jazz Geddy Lee Signature Bass - Q Serial No, which makes it a 2002-2004 Crafted in Japan 🇯🇵 in excellent condition Based on Geddy Lee’s 1972 jazz bass it has block inlays, a super thin and easy to play neck, early 70’s decal, currently has black pickguard on but also comes with white pickguard too. Pickups are absolutely fantastic, the quality of the build and sound of these basses is legendary. Condition is excellent for the year - there’s the odd scratch and small bits of tarnish but nothing I can even photograph really, it looks a couple of years old at a push not a couple of decades! Hasn’t even got buckle rash - really decent nick. BassDirect currently have one in for £899 which has chunks out the finish, this is cheaper and is in much better condition. Postage is available at cost (£20-25ish) I haven’t got a gigbag or case to send it in, but I have got packaging and a box, I’m sure we’ll be able to sort something. Delivery: I’m based in Durham but if you don’t want risk it going through the post, as long as you cover the cost of fuel I’ll deliver (although probably not if you live in Plymouth but I’m happy to do a couple hours each way as long as I’m not out of pocket) **FINAL REDUCTION to £675!** 😯 For a Japanese Geddy Lee signature bass in great condition this is an absolute steal “ TRADES no trades now, which is a rarity for me, but I have real life expenses to cover unfortunately

  8. This sloppy finishing is what they chose to photograph to launch the range? Don't ever change, Gibson 😂

  9. So I spend £4k plus on basses over a few months and I don’t even get a sticker. That’s it, they’re dead to me now…..

  11. Here’s a very nice Stingray dating from 1996, with the two band EQ and maple neck. It’s all original and not messed with at all. Very good condition for an almost 30 year old bass, one or two very slight marks and a slight ding halfway up the back of the neck, which I have pictured. Comes with a slightly scruffy but solid Gator case. Selling as I am downsizing and due to age I’m playing less often now, so I’m only keeping a basic P bass which I have owned for many years. I have been a regular on this site for nearly 10 years, you can buy with confidence. I have great distrust of couriers, so you could collect from my place at Chichester, or via my family you could also collect from Putney or Woking, or I could possibly deliver/meet up anywhere in the South East.

  12. Friday and Saturday was QuoVention, a gathering of Status Quo aficionados in Bilston's Robin 2 venue. Seven tribute bands over two evenings including guest appearances from Quo drummers Jeff Rich and Leon Cave and Rick Parfitt's replacement, Ritchie Malone. All the bands were excellent and gave the punters what they had come for. The backline and drum kit provided for us did the job perfectly and the sound engineer put in a sterling shift over the piece. The event took 18 months to organise and was a great success. Bands and fans came from England, Sweden, Belgium. Germany and Scotland. Back to publand for our next gig to bring us back down to earth. Ha ha.

  14. Bendricks Rock have a gig at the Earl Haig on Saturday. I've played there a lot with Bluesfire and on jam nights. It's in the bar, not on the big stage, but a lot of people consider it one of their favourite places to play because of the atmosphere. Lots of regulars in a smaller space. Hopefully we match our last two gigs.

  15. Lovely 2017 natural flamed finish Elwood, handmade in Poland. Tone chambered figured ash body, maple neck, alnico pups. Really slick player like a Sandberg. Unmarked condition with gigbag.

  16. I guess I'm seeing something different to you guys. All I'm seeing is something that's Cort quality* - including the clearly misnomered premium** gig bag - for TWICE the price. Or, for the same price, you could get an actual MTD Kingston. Oh, hang on, wait: 3 free months of lessons in the Gibson App? Fair enough, then 😛 * Not that I'm being disparaging about Cort quality; quite the opposite! It's just that they don't slap £1.5k-2k price tags on their instruments. ** IMO, if a gig bag doesn't have a proper padded handle, it's not premium. End of.

  17. And I have to add , Baloney Balderdash was dead on with the suggestions. I put the heavier Fender set on my Squier. Big difference. The string spacing is tight , but if you put the time in it becomes comfortable. I’ve had no reason to change the pickups.

  18. I picked up a used Squier several years ago , and wound up spending a surprising amount of time goofing around on it. Not suitable for the gigs I do , but a great guilty pleasure. After a bit I decided that I needed a little treble/reverb for it , then someone suggested some drive might be good. Next thing I needed was some delay , then chorus … My pedalboard wound up being considerably more expensive than the Bass VI was. Go for one. … serious potential for fun.

  22. I wonder if, should I have the opportunity to get one, they'll feel familiar and like home again? I will do my best to at least get my hands on them for a full-on in-depth review. The Classic V looks fantastic!

  23. I once owned at the same time a Hofner Ignition Club and a Danelectro '56 SS single cut, which is chambered, The Dano blew the Hofner out of the water in every way so maybe consider adding one of those to your shortlist?

  24. I went to the guitar auction at Gardiner Houlgate (work is slow) and I played this. It’s a handmade luthier built bass with a Sims Custom Shop neck and full Status electronics. It’s quite bonkers but it’s utterly amazingly well set up, with a pencil thin jazz neck with built-in LEDs. Little play wear and a fully fitted custom flightcase all for £503. It was very much a speculative bid, but I’m really happy with it. The mind boggles at what it much have cost when brand new.

  26. The reason it makes so little difference is that the overall weight of the bridge and body combined, and because they are attached to each other we need to consider the combined weight, hardly changes. I did the maths last time this was brought up and even though a typical high-mass bridge is almost 3 times heavier than the BBOT, the combined weight of the bridge and body is less than a 5% difference.

  28. Putting up for sale my recently bought MTD Kingston AG5. Bought too many basses lately and something has to go - this one is lovely but I already have a US MTD535 so cannot justify keeping it. It is in a very good condition apart from a few dings I’ve tried to capture in the photos. This is one with the updated Bartolini pickups (first edition didn’t sound as good imo). Lightweight - I think around 4.1kg and very comfortable to play, feels and sounds as it should. Strung with a new set of Elixir steels - 45-125. Happy to take £50 off if you don’t want them. Happy to consider trades with cash adjustment either way despite just saying that I have too many but you never know. Not interested in 4 string basses. Cannot post - collection only or happy to travel for some petrol costs. Basses I might be interested in: Tobias - 5 or 6 string Warrior - 5 string Pedulla - 5 or 6 string Yamaha TRB 5p Fender Jazz 5 string Fender P or Tele 5 string Sadowsky 5 string (no Metro Express - have one already). Or just try me with what you have. Happy to add/take cash or include my Kiesel Icon 6 I have up for sale here, or my Yamaha TRB 5 II which I’m about to post up.

  29. This has been up for over a month now so I think I will let it go to anyone who wants it but can't afford it. Please don't take the p***. I don't want it sat there doing sweet FA so am happy to let it go for free but only to someone that needs a break - if anyone knows anyone who is looking for something like this, let them/me know. If you can afford it, buy it. If you can't, it's yours for free (you'll have to collect, though - or do one of those relay things). Recent purchase renders this superfluous to requirements. Some minor/cosmetic nicks and knocks but nothing dramatic. The cabinet is in Felixstowe, Suffolk, so probably as far away from everywhere as you can get and still be in England. Phil Jones Bass 4B extension cabinet. Designed as an extension to the Suitcase, the addition of a 4B will make a super compact rig, able to do just about any task the working bassist. Loud enough to play with a powerful drummer and yet offer fidelity of bass that is unsurpassed. This diminutive duo will surprise anyone with disbelief that small cabinets can produce such levels of rich deep and powerful bass, right down to the open B string and below. It does it with authority and yet is transparent right up to the highest of frequencies. Dynamic range is beyond what you would expect; slapped bass will have snap that just can not come from horn tweeter bass cabs. The mid range is so pure that this cabinet will even produce the acoustic bass with stellar clarity. So much so that you will think you are playing an even more expensive instrument! Specifications: Frequency Response: 25Hz-15kHz Power Handling: 300 watts RMS Sensitivity: 95 dB/watt Impedance: 8 ohms Connectors: Neutrik Speakon Dimensions: 16.5h x 13.75w x 17.5d Weight: 39 Lbs.

  30. So I'd been trawling about on tinternet for a new Squier Affinity active Jazz (the nice seafoam green one) and in among the usual suspects - PMT, Andertons etc was a company I'd never heard of called 'SCAN'. A bit of research revealed that they have fingers in a few pies, Computers, Cameras, Gaming and musical instruments. The bass was a tenner cheaper than elsewhere (apart from Thomann) but included was free postage AND a free pro 'set up' costing £100 according to their website so I pulled the trigger hoping that things would work out well....and they did! Ordered the bass on Sunday, arrived on Tuesday really well set up, good comms, fast delivery and that free set up? Very happy bunny. Would be interested to hear others experience of Scan.

  31. Very rare Kawai AQB 500 Japanese PJ the bass has bolt-on maple neck. Pickups and hardware are all Kawai branded. Kawai is more renowned for pianos but they made some cool guitars and basses in the 80s Bought a little while ago and it's great but my collection of basses is expanding and I need an intervention. It is in great condition for 40 year old bass but obviously has dings here and there and the hardware is a little tarnished. It sounds brilliant and is very playable. £250 plus postage buys you some excellent MIJ goodness! Very rare Kawai Aquarius

  33. For sale is my TC Electronic BH800 800 Watt Class D amp head Ive had this for almost 3 years and gigged it maybe 10 times, I just don’t use amps anymore really and have a Markbass tube amp for the ones I do, so this is sitting do nothing much, and I currently have a holiday to pay off 😁 The amp is fantastic quality and incredibly loud, it also has the 2 x toneprint slots which I’ve always used for Spectracomp compressor and a combination of Spectradrive & Compressor, but you can put almost any effect in there - really useful I’ve looked all over eBay, Facebook marketplace and Reverb and these are mostly £350+ with the cheapest I’ve found being £300 on Facebook, I need to get it sold quickly really so I’m listing it for: £225 Delivered - which is an absolute bargain, this is in excellent condition and I haven’t seen one for less than £300 anywhere - most are £350+ Will be boxed and packaged very securely It’s a a really good quality amp and I’ve done a couple of really decent sized gigs with this and it goes a long way, for normal gigs it’s never really gone over 12 o clock. It is also very light, and in near perfect condition All specs available here: https://www.tcelectronic.com/product.html?modelCode=0707-ACF This is a bargain for a really good amp - it’s priced to sell and not looking to trade, thanks

  34. Glad to hear you've got a solution you're happy with. I did an install some years ago for a local community centre with similar use cases. Majority of events involved one or two hand-held radio mics, a playback source on a 3.5mm jack, or a laptop hooked up to a projector. I put a Behringer XR18 in, but the big winner was building them a custom layout on Mixing Station. I made a fairly idiot-proof basic scene with some generic "safe" EQ settings, then set the app up to automatically boot in to a customs layout that only gave access to a fader and a mute button for each of the main input sources (Mic 1, Mic 2, HDMI, 3.5mm, and a stereo XLR hookup at the back of the room for visiting mixers on larger events), a fader that brought up reverb on the mics, a master fader, and a big red "reset to defaults" button that reloaded my scene in case something had gone awry. This meant the least skilled volunteer could operate the system for 95% of their requirements. The full interface was a couple of button presses away for an experienced op to use if required. You could do a similar thing tailored to your use case for any desk supported by Mixing Station (Behringer XR, X32; Allen & Heath CQ, QU, SQ; various others) and just give volunteers the tablet to use.

  36. @itu That would be this document that describes that (I think) https://www.emgpickups.com/pub/media/Mageants/p/_/p_p5_p6-b245_0230-0107rf.pdf That link was working yesterday as I used it but it is not working today. A screen shot from the PDF. If you wish to donate for free a few different EMG pickups, I'd be very grateful and will even name the guitar after you can't say fairer than that. Lets get one working first, Rob

  43. I have the Tonedexter 2, and I'm pretty happy with it. I trained it with the Lifeline and a Remic red, a T-Bone and an SM 57. I ran it on a run of festivals last summer (mandolin/octave mandolin, vox, drums and bass) and I felt that it sounded good. There have been a number of updates rolled out since last spring when I got it too. Apparently they've improved the accuracy of the training algorithm, added a 90 second looper so you can playback after training and dial in EQ, HPF, etc , to your taste, and they've added reverb options too. I've not had chance to experiment with any of that stuff yet though, but I plan to get down to the rehearsal space and spend a few hours trying to get if even better for this summer.

  46. Might well happen. When Mike Pedulla closed his shop rather than selling the business, the second-hand asking prices of the classic Pedulla basses did increase significantly. No sign of any levelling on those asking prices.......so hang on to that Status bass(es).

  47. Looks to be perspective - if you scan across from the speaker mounting point on the ceiling to the brick pillar far right, it seems a little in front (downstage) of the front of the pillar, and even the back of the pillar appears to be a little in front (downstage) of the lectern, per the line of hazard tape.

  49. Had this through endorsement however needs must! Gigged once, pristine condition. Will come with fresh set of D’addarios. Weight is 4.4kg, 9lbs or so. It’s not the current model with the Darkglass preamp, it’s the tonepump preamp. Will come with Spector gigbag and original box as shown. No trades, cash only. May accept offers. RRP is around £2500 these days so you're basically getting a brand new bass for £900 cheaper! Will ship at buyers expense. Thanks
