1. Even if I give up my 7 string I doubt I'll go back to 4.
2. Can you "daisy-chain" the two sides together if you only have a mono amp?
3. I think it's fingerings- 1234= fingers on your fretting hand, 0= open string. Judging from the open notes it looks like it's the OP's bass fingerings.
4. I actually ended up practising Bottesini studies on fretless. Good fun.
5. Jamey Aebersold play along volume 1- How to Play Jazz. I'm actually making a serious effort to get this jazz thing under my fingers, but its gonna take a loooooong time.
6. Is the Sound Tech 2x 400W into 4ohms and 800W bridged into 4 ohms? How heavy is it? Any trades?
7. Excuse my ignorance, but what's an LPB? Awesome designs anyway!
8. Did Warmoth do the gold finish for you?
9. That's going to be cool. I really like the shape.
10.
Jim Fleeting of Ripon Made my headless 6 http://luthiery.co.uk/ Nice guy too.
Yes please!
11.
Billy is THE man!! While he can effortlessley play all the'' tricks'', he always urges everyone to play bass''in the pocket'' etc. and play the basics as that's what it's all about. He just happens to be the jimi Hendrix of bass(imho)
Dunno about the Hendrix bit but I agree with the rest of this.
12. FWIW there was one on TalkBass for about $350 recently- I'd say you're probably looking at £200-£250 max although the market may be pretty limited as Jackson are not really known for their basses. I could be talking crap though, I can't recall seeing another in the country so YMMV.
13. I feel strangely attracted to that.
14. Funnily enough I've just been searching eBay for one. The reports I've read suggest it tracks quite well, particularly on the upper strings.
15. Does make me want an MTD...
16. Are the pickups hand wired by Tony Blair?
17. Not played the 55-02 but the JO5 I tried at Guitar Guitar was one of the best 5 strings I've played.
18. That's awesome. It's like a Steinberger for the 21st Century- lots of elegant design touches but elegantly presented as well. Very nice indeed.
19. I hooked up the vocoder in my Boss VF-1 with my bass. Pretty cool stuff, although of limited use. Also, severely limited by my inability to speak or sing whilst playing!
20. Thanks a lot guys! I think I really need to get used to thinking of it as music rather than a physical exercise. Realising the 13th chord is just a bunch of triads combined is quite helpful also. Thanks for all your advice.
21. Hello all, I'm starting to get into playing jazz properly and I'm trying to get used to playing different arpeggios over a set of changes. Previously I've never really looked at arpeggios that go past the octave (7ths were the limit really). The issue I'm having is I'm not sure of the best way to practice (or indeed use) multiple octaves or different inversions of 9th (11th, 13th) chords. To clarify- when practising, say, a major triad, you can play root, 3rd, 5th, octave, compound third/10th, compound 5th/12th and the second octave and it sounds quite musical, and the same applies to the different inversions of the triad. If you try and do that with a 9th chord, you end up with a big hole between the 9th and the next octave. How do you get around this? The only thing I've come up with so far is to play root, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 10th/compound 3rd, 12th/compound 5th, 15th/compound 7th etc which seems a bit inelegant. I can't see a better way though. Any thoughts? Cheers Kyle
22. Are the 4-in-line tuners from the Milestone III neck? Considering buying it to defret since I have a fretted one. Cheers.
23. What's the scale length? Whereabouts in the country are you?
