The bass sale that turned a (massive) corner… - *SOLD*

I'm not certain but a US instrument from the seventies I would expect to use Imperial sizes. Get a set of imperial Allen keys and one of the smaller ones of the set should fit. Probably.

You have chosen the best instrument; the depth and power make it addictive!

I bought this new from GAK several years ago and recorded a few tracks but increasing finger arthritis, and TBH, a complete lack of talent, meant I just stopped using it. It is in pristine condition and comes with five JVC recordable discs still in their cellophane wrappers. I will delete the crappy recordings I made so it will be like having a brand new one. Clean, smoke free home - it's just been sitting in the corner of the spare bedroom covered with a dust sheet. Bit of an awkward thing to pack so collection preferred or I'm prepared to meet up FOC within fifty miles or so of an imaginary straight line between Cardiff and Hereford. I can text or email any required pictures and will try to upload some on to here in the next few days. Plenty of images online - I think there were some different colour schemes but mine is the grey one. Any questions - just ask.

We played the New Foresters in Blackwood, Gwent last night - a good crowd and a good night although the space for the band is really cramped. However, the flagstone floor seemed to be a black hole for bass so I spent an hour or two in the shed this morning making a 36mm thick plywood platform which sits on a strong plastic beer crate that will lift my pair of 1x12s more than a foot off the floor. It seems to be stable so I'm planning a test flight when we play the Eye of Ra motorcycle club annual festival this coming Friday.

My gigging rig is a Streamliner 600 and a pair of Berg HD112s. Your Bugera looks identical except for that handle on the edge so it gives me a good idea of the scale. A few questions if you have the time; 1) The sheet material appears to be 18mm - is that ply, MDF or something else? 2) I've made quite a few storage boxes using my biscuit jointer and 18mm mdf - they are heavy but strong. As this would be a solid box without an opening lid do you think it would be okay to not bother with the 20x20 bracing struts? 3) The port is 68mm diameter - is it a piece of plastic downpipe? 4) Is the speaker screw-mounted to the inside or the outside of the baffle? 5) The speaker grille - is that cut from a bigger piece or did you size the cabinet to suit a piece that was bought that size? Many thanks in advance!

Really interesting! I think I could manage a box like that - what do you think of incorporating one of these https://www.thomann.de/gb/the_tamp_pm40c_endstufenmodul.htm ? Perhaps mounted externally on the rear panel but with the four sides extended by a couple of inches to provide protection. Only 50W (and that's at 4 ohms) but it could be a fun project and actually quite useful.

I had an MXR micro amp until very recently - about a quarter turn of the knob was enough to bring a passive P-type bass up to the same level as a MusicMan with a 9 volt preamp and anything beyond that seemed ever so loud. The MXR specs say it has up to +26dB of gain and a maximum output level of +6dBV but I'm not sure how that relates to the sensitivity of your power amps.

I was recently emailed an invoice for £18 for the coming year but when I tried to pay it both my credit and debit cards were declined even though they had OTP verifications. I know my cards are okay so what should I do now? Thanks in advance. Pete

A couple of months ago I bought my first ever five string which was also the first active bass I've ever owned. To be able to swap easily between active and passive I bought this excellent little one-knob boost pedal. Well I failed miserably with the fiver and it was taken off my hands by top chap Vmaxblues so this is now no longer needed. Genuinely mint condition and they are built like a tank. Currently around £100 retail. No scratches, no velcro, shipped in the original box for £70 and I'll even include a good quality right angled patch cable (150mm or 300mm you choose). PM me if you want to see pictures but it looks exactly like the stock photos.
