1.
Yey, I can officially post to this thread (well technically I should wait until past midnight but I'm sure you'll forgive me in my excitement) So dear bass chatters, today, 10 and a half months after picking up a bass, I have performed infront of a real life audience!!! With our charity gigs looming, we decided to try out some of our set at a local jam night! We were told we would be able to do 2 or 3 numbers.... But when we were up there they asked us to do a fourth I was shaking like a leaf!! I can't believe how nervous I was. The first song started, and because they provide the back line I couldn't hear myself, so I had to step forward infront of the PA speaker to hear my bass!! We performed "Mercury Blues", "Badge", "Can't get enough of your love" and "Need your love so bad". Several people came on to me afterwards to compliment my bass playing!! I have recorded the tracks (thanks Discreet for the Zoom recorder recommendation) and so will listen to them tomorrow to analyse where I can improve on my playing. I probably sounded sh*t with shaking fingers!!! But right now I am on cloud nine!!! It was bloody fantastic to perform!!! Hee hee, I'm actually a proper real life bassist now!!!! I was wearing a t-shirt saying "Yes, I'm a girl... Yes, I play bass... Any more questions?" and a guy came up to me and said "I have a few questions, can I have your number and can I take you on a date?" I laughed, then he said "I'm being serious, you are beautiful and you are brilliant on the bass"!!! I politely declined saying how sweet it was of him, but I'm a very happily married woman.... But it's given me a real confidence boost!! I'm a happy bassist tonight!!
Congrats! The more so for making a big impression right from the start. Doesn't get a lot better than that!
2. I did it anyway...my room door nearly fell off! Keeps the place ventilated, too...
3. I've not done the sinewave on the S15, because I think the house would fall down! Tomorrow's gig should get the process well under way. Really looking forward to that!
4. I find I get too hot with a hat on. Annoying, because I like hats...
5. *Awaits pic with child-like impatience*
6. It's a great guitar, but it's just sitting here. Someone could make really good use of it!
7. Price: £325 delivered. Includes an externally marked but otherwise sound deluxe tweed case. These have Seymour Duncan Alnico Pro II pickups as standard. Jack socket has been upgraded to an Electrosocket. Currently set up with EB 10s. Now considering trades - P with J neck, Yamaha BB424, W.H.Y? 8. The neck is an Allparts replacement. It's a MIM Standard from 2003/4, but the original neck went bad, big time. This neck came up on here, all but unused, and it's a real treat to play!
9. And here it is, all safe, and sounding awesome!
10. Well, today is when I get the replacement for the Barefaced Super 15 that a Fedex forklift trashed a while back. Please let it be in one piece!
11. Great bass. Easy to play. No dead spots. Surprisingly good sustain, even with flats on. Mine is not fantastically light at 8.5lbs, but I'm happy with it. Looks good, although one punter familiar with our band said the Oly white 'n stripes was not remotely macho enough compared to my all-black and maple Precision!
12.
Mexico vs. USA, who has the longer history of guitar making?
Probably Mexico, and by some distance...
13. OK, here's mine. Pretty similar, I'd say.
14. A new sort of musicians' social networking site, apparently. Are these things any good, in anyone's experience?
15. Personally, although it might not be broke, I'd always remove a BAII. One of the more useless things you can do to a Fender bass, IMHO... Not only that, but even the slight extra robustness of, for example, the Wilkinson, or later Hi-Mass bridges, is irrelevant. No BBOT was ever too flimsy to do its job properly. On the three-hole USA basses of later years, I would say that the BAIII was a worthwhile upgrade, if only for the extra intonation travel. However, if it ain't, etc etc...

Samuel bought a Badass II from me. All good and great comms! Den
17. My take on this: You need three if you gig regularly. Always take out two. If one breaks, you can still take out two. Perfect excuse to own 3 basses and keep them!
18. I do tend to use things with fender on the headstock. I've long since ceased to care whether or not it's made in California, simply due to the fact that every non-USA Fender I've played since I got back into it knocks every older Fender I ever had (all Fullerton built) into the weeds, or at the very least equals it. Working in a guitar shop and being able to directly compare the various modern versions did not disabuse me of this notion. But I do still like to see "Fender" up there.....
