1. Personally, although it might not be broke, I'd always remove a BAII. One of the more useless things you can do to a Fender bass, IMHO... Not only that, but even the slight extra robustness of, for example, the Wilkinson, or later Hi-Mass bridges, is irrelevant. No BBOT was ever too flimsy to do its job properly. On the three-hole USA basses of later years, I would say that the BAIII was a worthwhile upgrade, if only for the extra intonation travel. However, if it ain't, etc etc...

Samuel bought a Badass II from me. All good and great comms! Den
3. My take on this: You need three if you gig regularly. Always take out two. If one breaks, you can still take out two. Perfect excuse to own 3 basses and keep them!
4. I do tend to use things with fender on the headstock. I've long since ceased to care whether or not it's made in California, simply due to the fact that every non-USA Fender I've played since I got back into it knocks every older Fender I ever had (all Fullerton built) into the weeds, or at the very least equals it. Working in a guitar shop and being able to directly compare the various modern versions did not disabuse me of this notion. But I do still like to see "Fender" up there.....
5.
I used to run a small plant nursery at one point and reluctantly sold plants by mail order. One time I took a parcel to a different post office to my usual and handed the box over. I had, as usual, covered the outside of the box in the words, 'LIVE PLANTS PLEASE HANDLE CAREFULLY' in red capitals. The guy behind the counter took it, weighed it, then threw it in the corner. I said 'Can you be careful I have live plants in there'. He said 'And how am I supposed to know that?' Not sure how many people in the queue behind me went back again after my reply.
Oh dear...
6. Another welcome from a 60+ in Tavistock!
7.
Why would he be good on the bass though? Its a completely different instrument.
This. It only looks like a guitar...
8. Alex has confirmed the damage was done by a forklift tine. He's wrangling with the courier re insurance. I may have a replacement as early as next week. Alex is a real trooper and trying very hard to get me a Super 15 ASAP. Many thanks, Alex!
9. A wedding at Tavistock Town Hall. As a classic rock covers/originals band, we get to do a surprising amount of weddings, no idea why really. Just nice to have the added gigs and income stream. As per usual for a wedding, first set was playing to the empty dance floor, second set far more manic! All in all, a good one. Our next gig is the Tavistock Civic Ball!
10.
I'm fed up of people coming to the house (delivery men, boiler engineers etc), seeing the basses and asking "Does your husband play the bass" no he bleeding well doesn't.... I'm the bassist and damn proud of it!
My wife is equally fed up with people thinking I'm the surfer...
11. Well, not Fedex... 'Twas an unmarked van subbed to Fedex that delivered my wrecked BF Super 15 yesterday. As per the thread in General Discussion, it was probably spiked with a forklift. ..
12. Easter bump! Hope you all have lots of hot cross buns and chocolate eggs! Den
13. Although I live in West Devon, I had in fact tried to tie in with Alex to collect in person, but that didn't work out. This was one of the nightmare scenarios that made me try and pick up personally. Ah well...
14.
Nige, perhaps a lot of this does apply to some people here but I'm just a guy who plays a bit of bass in occasionally gigging bands. I'm not frustrated, I dont expect to express myself fully, I don't have a unique voice or expect to, yet I do sometimes delight myself and I do sometimes touch other people or at least make them dance. But I don't and can't take it so seriously.
^^^This. But I do want to be playing a lot more gigs, and that lack can frustrate me.
15. The driver blamed it on 'the animals at the warehouse'...
16. Well, after waiting with great anticipation for my Barefaced Super 15, it arrived this morning. With a hole in it. Right through multiple packaging layers and almost right through the ply. Quite how the couriers had managed to mistreat a well-packed item that badly,is, frankly, beyond me. Alex at Barefaced was audibly shocked when i told him, both because he's gone to a great deal of trouble to try and make sure this sort of problem doesn't happen, and because he now has to effectively start from scratch on a new cab for me, which will screw up his production. Hopefully, he can recover some parts from the damaged cab, but if it's been beaten around to that extent (there were in fact several holes in and through the packaging), I would be surprised if it wasn't a total loss. To say I'm gutted is to indulge in the greatest of understatements...
