1. Hi Rich, welcome back! Played once at the 'village hall' in Stanley, using a Fender Malibu acoustic. After I'd done my piece (it was the Stanley Folk Club), I was informed it had gone out live on FIBS across the whole soddin' South Atlantic! Eek!
2. Howdy!
3. Welcome, from someone who's just tipped over the magic 60 (and is, irritatingly, beginning to feel every bit of it...). It's just a number. Honest. I'm still a teenager too, really. Really.
4. Howdy!
5.
I am a small woman with small hands and I play a jazz bass. It's large, cumbersome, heavy and my hands sometimes struggle to reach but I wouldn't swap, it sounds how a bass should sound to me, and providing I keep my hand in I find I can play how I want to play and it sounds the way I want it to. Can't ask for more from an instrument than that. Make what you will from the various potential innuendos provided
The correct answer - that is, if it makes the noise you want, persever unless too painful.
6. For those interested, and maybe even for Sebastian747, I just bought this from Andy, and in the process of reading the build diary, realised that the polishing solution (that is the problem of keeping it looking good, rather than the rubbing down) was sitting in front of me. It's called Greygate Plastic Polish, and was designed with Plexiglass/Lucite aircraft canopies and similar in mind. Smells a bit iffy, but will actually work well on most plastics. There's even a specially formulated version for nitrocellulose plastics also. The catch? Tends to be only available from aerospace suppliers! However, if I can find such in Okehampton, it can't be that difficult elsewhere, I'm sure!
7. My back is going to regret this... Still, I do have a very wide strap for it!
8. It'll be a Large Letter stamp, but yes!
9. I have it too, it's good - have another bump!
10. It occurred to me, having read right through the build thread, that the polish answer was sitting on my windowsill looking at me. It's called Greygate Plastic Polish, and is designed for use on Lucite aircraft canopies and domes. We also used to use it as lot on Lucite noticeboards, rto polish off Cjinagraph markings. Not easy to get hold of - you need to find an aerospace supplier. So I looked it up one day, and found there was just such a supplier in, of all places, Okehampton. Why? Anyhoo, it works a treat on most plastics, and there is even a formulation for nitrocellulose plastics! Oh, PM'd, by the way!
11. Have immediately replaced them with Jazz Flats, so these are unused, effectively. First person who rings my doorbell gets 'em!
12. Oh, and whike I was at it, I got myself a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 "phablet", which is huge, but pretty phab! (Sorry...)
13. Nice! And plenty of flexibility!
14. Yup, it surely did not take long to wend its way down that oh-so-slippery slope
15. TI JF344 Jazz Flats on everything.
16. Blademan and Homer, if I'm not being too nosey, what's the actual problem?
17. Excellent! What did you order?
18. Ritters. Sorry, Jens, they are just so way over the top...
19. Thanks for the good wishes, mch appreciated! Now just have to curb the impatience, especially for the cab!
20. Well, what a few weeks. Earlier in December, I had cataract surgery. The cataract was the result of earlier surgery to correct a major retinal dechment. However, I achieved a sort of reverse lottery win when, as a result of said cataract surgery, I had another, partial, retinal detachment. This means having to lay on my left side for 50 out 60 minutes for some days. Boring. BUT...it's also a good, uninterrupted time to spend that portion of my pension lump sum that I have allocated to music...So I have ordered: Fender Kingman SCE ABG, and case Markbass Little Mark III, and case Barfaced Super 15 I decided that another new solid bass woul be a waste of money - I'd never play it enough to justify the spend.(Sorry, Mr Green...) By the time it all starts to arrive, I'll be allowed to stand up again!
21. Oh dear...if this was a maple board, you'd be missing your arm. Still possibly interested!
22. What's the weight like?
23. OK, interested...looking at early Jan for a possible buy. EDIT: OK, not for me if defretted...sorry.
24. Welcome home!
25. Well, it's arrived, and it's a great little amp. Nearly as heavy as my Markbass CMD121H though!
