1. Hi Zoe, good to see you back! Four gigs this weekend: Live Lounge in Plymouth tonight, wedding tomorrow in the middle of a cricket pitch (I kid you not...), acoustic gig with Deckchair of Destiny on Sunday, then back with The Rock 'n' Roll Outlaws for a Jubilee gig on Tavistock Meadows on Monday night - headlining! It's a busy one!
2.
You might want to check that. I was expecting mine at sixty but I've got to wait until sixty-one and three quarters.
Same here - about September 2014 instead of next January...
3. Howdy! Nothin' like a good Fender, but I'm a Precision man through and through. Despite having small girly hands also! I even aim to have a C neck precision someday!
4. Aniother vote for Hiscox.
5. Had to do some work on a Yamaha BB425...
6. TI Jazz Flats all round, 4 and 5 string.
7. If you must, it's a BAdAss II that fits right on, but good luck getting one. Orther alternatives are the original Fender Deluxe bass bridges, up to 2008 or so. It may well be that the later ones fit also, but this is a mod I did and works. The BBOT will not fit without extra holes.
8. Howdy!
9. Howdy!
10. And another, 40+ years here!
11. Now, ain't that odd? On my '51, there's 3/4 of an inch clear beyond the nut on the E., with all the other silks dead level about 3/4 inch below the string retainer... Have these on all three basses. Cost a packet for a five-string set!
12.
We've had that conversation recently. That might have been Leo's intention (point taken from whoever made it so eloquently), but no it isn't, not any more. Its function in a band is nothing to to with that of a guitar, and physically you can't play it like one. It's an electric bass so get used to it!
Correct! Not a member of the guitar family, so there, Anthony Jackson! Fender VI, six strings, EADGBE, explicitly says 'Bass Guitar' on the4 headstock. On a Jazz Bass, it states 'Electric Bass'. However, there was always going to be debate about this, mainly due to what had to be written in satisfying the patent lawyers... My pet hate? Pedants like me!
13. Welcome, and Happy Easter!
14. Howdy!
15. Another nod for Yamaha - recently got a BB425, and it's great!
16. Never had any problem with/without contours...use each interchangeably...
17. Welcome! Dig in!
18. Ooh, get you! Really, I needed a 5er with a fairly slim front-to-back neck profile and these fit the bill. And they do take after the good ole P-bass!
19. I don't like: well, anything bar Fender Precisions, really! Not even Jazz Basses to any great degree. I do have a (small) soft spot for original shape Yamaha BBs, and fortunately that shape still exists in the current series (because I have one!), but there were one or two 'BB's that looked entirely different...
20. Welcome! Like it!
