1. Covers, yes, always a knotty problem... I have my standard P drilled for them, but rarely put them on. The pickup cover is very wide, and doesn't make a good thumbrest. Otherwise, they are OK. On the 51RI, they stay on permanently. The pickup cover is much narrower, and is where a thumbrest might be, level-wise. Also, the slabs look bad without them, IMHO. Splits look good either way... And the drilling? Yup, scary. But what the hell.
2. Howdy! Must get an URB someday...
3. Howdy! Seriously cool bass!
4. Welcome back!
5. Nice one!
6. Welcome!
7. Seeing as I play a slab, I'd go for the Telecaster...I dread to think what I'd have to pay for my birth bass - 1953...
8. I had a fairly gentle go on the 15 at Mansons some time back. I liked it, but it was pricey, and much heavier than my 500W 2x12 rig. I used a flatwound-strung 51RI, so vintage sound was automatic!
9. Really nice.
10. Sheesh, she slaps hard...
11. Howdy, Kong, nice to meet you! For 15 years, I worked (in England) for a Baden-Wurttemberg based company called W&G, based in Eningen-unter-Achalm, near Reutlingen. I did get to visit a few times, and very nice it was, too!
12. TI Jazz Flats for me. Don't like the sheer tension of most flats...
13. Howdy! Yes, easy to bend that GASometer needle...
14.
...The electric bass is not a solo instrument in my humble opinion (climbs into wardrobe and puts on tin hat).
My view entirely! Welcome to the forum!
15. Howdy!
16. Nice one! Like it a lot.
17.
Have been wireless for many years now. Never had any noticeable difference in sound compared to quality cables. No going back
This. I use a Samson Airline system (it's been superceded since), and although it's a single frequency job, I've not had any insurmountable problems.
18. It's places like this that make me really regret living in Devon/Cornwall! I will have to attempt a visit...
19. Smallest, probably less than 5, largest, around 5,000.
20. Howdy!
