    Covers, yes, always a knotty problem... I have my standard P drilled for them, but rarely put them on. The pickup cover is very wide, and doesn't make a good thumbrest. Otherwise, they are OK. On the 51RI, they stay on permanently. The pickup cover is much narrower, and is where a thumbrest might be, level-wise. Also, the slabs look bad without them, IMHO. Splits look good either way... And the drilling? Yup, scary. But what the hell.

    Seeing as I play a slab, I'd go for the Telecaster...I dread to think what I'd have to pay for my birth bass - 1953...

    I had a fairly gentle go on the 15 at Mansons some time back. I liked it, but it was pricey, and much heavier than my 500W 2x12 rig. I used a flatwound-strung 51RI, so vintage sound was automatic!

    Howdy, Kong, nice to meet you! For 15 years, I worked (in England) for a Baden-Wurttemberg based company called W&G, based in Eningen-unter-Achalm, near Reutlingen. I did get to visit a few times, and very nice it was, too!
