1. You need both a hard case and a muting floor tuner. If you're playing a gig, you should be permanently attached to a tuner, either straight through, or via the tuner out socket of your amp if that's your preference (and your amp has one, of course!). You should never imagine that you're only ever going to tune up once. If you can't tell that this is needed, then all the more reason to use a tuner.
2. We're playing at the Quayside Inn, East Looe, Cornwall, on Friday 6th May, and the Arundell Arms, Lifton, Devon, on Saturday 7th May. Both at 9pm! Rawk!
3. Nobody's reading this carefully, are they? The clue is in plain view! Welcome, Mike, always wanted to visit Seattle. Hopefully, someday!
We're working on it.
Excellent! Tried The Wharf in Tavistock? Mr Steve Court is the name to ask for, or Angela, his other half. If the name rings a vague bell, he was the guy who designed and built the big sound rigs (Court Acoustics) for Pink Floyd back in the day. The Wharf's sound system is impressive for a 400 seater! 5. I'm in need of a lid for my Markbass amp. I have the CMD121H combo, but I have an occasional need to use the head on its own. If you have a Markbass combo and have ever removed the amp section, you will know that there is only a partial cover on top, doubtless as a production economy. For a gig this weekend, I cobbled together something out of card and gaffer tape, but plainly that's not a good solution. So if anyone has a spare lid (I'm thinking this would be something of a miracle) or would be prepared to make me an accurate template, I would be eternally grateful! Den
6. Missed putting this in before now. OK, OK, I was on the beach getting turned into a lobster, OK? Free!

9. Some of us get a bit paranoid about being past it occasionally, but only occasionally! Bass player for 40 years - would like another 40, but...what the heck, let's keep rockin'!
10. Welcome! Fun doing your own maintenance, isn't it?
11. Nor me! Welcome!
12. Welcome, from another Devon bassist! Don't know if they'll know too much about rockabilly styles, but Devon Strings, just down t'street from Mansons in Exeter, might be worth a call.

21.
No notes or tones should be avoided- it will limit you- keep an open mind. Just my tuppence
Precisiely. Why limit yourself? And although the physics may well indentify a differrence between an open string on, say, a bone nut, and a fretted note, if it was a massive difference, there wouldn't BE bone (or anything else) nuts - just metal nuts or zero frets. For certain, no-one listening live or even to a record, is ever going to hear that differrence. And yes, I use 'em all the time. They do require extra thought for damping, but that becomes as automatic as any other part of your technique.
22. No, just pretending! Might get a pony tail sewn onto my baseball cap if all goes well, though!
23. Not if you value your intervertebral discs... A 2x15 would be my personal choice. If I could lift it...
24. A 'don't forget' - this Friday! Come and see Telebass pretend to have long hair!
