1. I've got all the cards already anyway...
2. Indeed...maybe not such a bad thing. What surprised me about the band though, was their stunning level of musical talent, way beyond mine! That they then went on to be so poppy was a bit of a shock!
3. Welcome from Den (57). Stumpy fingers? Jazz Bass? <deep red Indian voice> Me have stumpy fingers also - Precision Bass just fine.</deep red Indian voice>
4. Welcome from another old timer! The group I just missed being part of was...Racy!
5.
Nope, not bothered, if they pay the money it is their choice...and possibly their loss..
Perzackly.
6. Gigging overseas aside, not taking your own kit to a gig is simply lazy. I wouldn't let anyone use my rig, and no-one ever gets near my bass. And there are and always will be, no exceptions to that. A band with no gear is no band. My experience on asking these folks where their gig money gets spent is normally fags/booze/women. Try spending it on kit and some wheels. You might actually get somewhere that way... As you can tell, this is a subject that bugs me royally...
7. Welcome! Nice place, Istanbul!
8. Welcome, from a softie southerner who moved yet further south!
9. Welcome! Wouldn't mind seeing a pic of that Kramer - one of the few non-Fender basses I liked the look of was the 650B...
10. As per the standard, the USA pickup is around 10 to 11 kOhms DC resistance, the MIMS tend to be around six. Otherwise, not much difference in the sound, in my experience. My MIM has a '94 MIA pickup in it - didn't seem to sound much different to me...
11. Due to a cancellation from Blondie UK, we've been given this slot at short notice! So if anyone wants to find out how big a space my little Markbass rig can fill, come along! Cheers, Den
12. I once lived near Melton Mowbray...if pork pies in Sidmouth are of that standard, I'll just have to drive over one day...
13. IMHO, there little tonally between any of them. On guitars, it seems to make more of a difference. My choice? Maple. Although I take one of each out to every gig! For me, the look of the Single Coil P Bass is simply 'it'.
14. Leaving God out of this for the moment, on an instrument where the strings are pretty close to being the same gauge, the bridge can be straight - classical guitar, for example. So gauges is the right answer. Another example is if you use contact-core strings. Again, the saddles can be almost lined up, because it's the thickness over the bridge that counts, not the gauge overall.
