  1. We sufficiently impressed the management that we have the offer of two regular dates a year, which is as much of a residency as anyone gets at the Wharf! Well chuffed.
  2. A bit of info... If you want to put Schaller BMFLs or Fender 70s replacements on a MIM or Squier, you'll find the holes to be too big. Try this: get a plastic bottle (shampoo, whatever...) and cut strips that will fit neatly inside the hole, lining it. A few drops of superglue gel can help too. Carefully fit bushings. Voila!
  3. Howdy! Enjoy!
  4. Other Fenders: MIK - Made In Korea MII - Made In Indonesia (my Squier VM P TB is actually a CII, Crafted, no less!)
  5. Welcome! From a dyed-in-the-wool four-banger!

    Hi

Welcome! Don't leave it too long before you play with others - you'll not regret it!
  8. Howdy!
  9. Howdy!
  10. Not really THAT odd, but I did briefly play for a Cornish punk band. With the lyrics actually in Cornish!
  11. Welcome!
  12. Welcome, O Wibbly One! I'm sure you'll enjoy this forum a lot!
  13. Really enjoyed it! The spacious stage allowed us plenty of room to rock out. The 51 is, and will likely remain, my go-to bass. It's even becoming something of a personal trademark around here!
  14. Hey, I restarted this at 53, and even after all those years, you probably already know more theory than I'm ever likely to learn. Go for it as soon as you're amp'd up. See my post in this section to see what happened to me after 17 years off!
  15. However, the button on THIS bass was a mod... That's Freddie Tavares, and no SCPB ever had a HS strap button fitted...
  16. And it went down an absolute storm! The venue were plainly not expecting the numbers that turned up (neither were we!); around 80 tickets sold in advance, which surely should have given them a clue... Chaos reigned in the bar, where one bar person was valiantly trying to serve nearly 200 people. The lighting guy was serving at one point! Anyhoo, here's a shot from the night. The venue's lighting guy and soundman were outstanding. On a bass-related note, the soundman eventually dropped my rig right out of the FOH system (a 16kW Court Acoustics Ramjet system, powered by the ubiquitous Crowns) - it was doing fine on its own, and due to having enough space to really breathe, was at a lower setting than I've ever used before. Not bad for a 400 bod venue!
  17. Welcome to the low end! Enjoy!
  18. Welcome, from another gigging (almost) pensioner!
  19. I decided to use what I knew, and got a Megger PAT3 manual tester.
  20. Welcome!
  21. All sounds cool to me.
  22. Not a chance unless the cab is split.
  23. Bit of a puzzle, this one. I thought I had just about every key I would ever need, but a 3/32 is too small, and a 7/64 is too big. Likewise, 2.5mm is too small, 3mm too big. Very irritating! White, rosewood board, made on March 28 1997 according to the neck. Can't find any reference to the brand anywhere... Any help much appreciated!
  24. Welcome!

    I'm off to NZ.

Jeez, how did I miss this? All the best, CK hope it works, and see you on here again soon! Den
