1. Indeed, give the case a good hoovering, then sparay it with febreeze or similar, then let it air out for a week or two. Use a good guitar polish to give the bass a really good clean, with the strings off, then leave it on a stand for a similar week or two. Should get rid of most of the pong. But if that smell made you heave, we had to repair an electro-acoustic, and on asking why it looked so bad inside, were told, "Oh, I got drunk and threw up in it..." Don't want to have to delve into that sort of 'repair' again any time soon...
2. I just changed my amp settings - a lot easier! However, it's nice to know that a direct drop-in is available!
3. Having gigged them, I found them fine, but a couple of regular punters said I was hard to hear and din't cut through enough, so they'll be coming off again...However, they are going ON somewhere else, possibly the Kramer. I did think of putting them on the Telebass, but flats with that big humbucker would be just too much woof and mud!
4. Welcome! Nice to see the recognition also! I advocate all guitarists and bassists playing some time in a three-piece. It really makes you work for a good, full sound.

Hi

Welcome! Agreed, 60 squids tops, I'd say.
6. Fair enough - he has a signature Rotosound set, so they don't cost him a bean, or not 27 squids a pop, anyways...
7. Mmmmm, CIJ Fenders, mmmmmmmm...... Welcome!
8.
That's not even funny! No worries though, we have a masterplan, if the're not out in a few years we're selling up and moving somewhere small and remote to get rid of 'em
Doesn't work...
9. Very tasty! That P is the canine's cojones, too!
10. It truly is ugly, as a headstock, and a bass generally, but I'll give it a whirl...me with an active bass! Far out, man...
11. Steve Harris of Iron Maiden uses only flats, so rock is NO problem!
12. But what hasn't come up yet is that these things can last YEARS before needing changing, particularly if you look after them!
13. Welcome! And it's just a bad rumour that they will disappear when they get older...
14. Hiscox is the only serious answer to this. No gig bag even comes close, no matter how expensive. And you're getting something that's the top of the tree and British to boot. Decision? What decision?
15. Ah, now I'm lucky here. I'm getting a loan of one of these from Ashdown so's I can road-test it! I just asked the rrep and he said, "Sure no problem". So I'll be telling you what I can, when I can!
16. Coupla hundred squids, tops. If it's a BAIII, it would be nice if it's been put on to string through the body properly.
17. As someone who has Saturday night gig levels of ringing ears on a permanent basis, I can only say that this is a Good Thing To Do. We have here in the shop some MusicSafe Pro plugs. I'm not plugging these, just wondering if any of you have used them. They are sort of similar to ER20s, but have 3 sets of interchangeable attenuator plugs, plus a spare bud, at £17.99. The only problem I've found with using any sort of plug now my hearing is damaged, is that when using ER20s, I really do find it hard to hear much at all...
18. They sound so nice, the other guy who works here in the guitar shop with me is playing with the bass. He's a g**tar**t!
19. For the first time since, oooh, 1975, I've strung up my standard P-bass with a set of flats. Wow! I'd forgotten how nice this could be! They are a NOS set of Picatos, so probably not representative of today's flats, but they'll be staying on!
20. Mmmmmm, Fenders, mmmmmm. Nothing to touch 'em.
21. Welcome back to the fold. I did something similar. Strange how the fit takes you! But, at 50 I started it all again, and I'm well into making sure I'm deaf before I retire...
22. Welcome indeed! Yes, pics of the Stratacoustic would be very interesting - I've never seen one of the originals.
23. Agreed. And Proel are pretty good with MB, so should be helpful.
