1.
I gig for a living and I certainly don't feel it's another form of rut. Saturdays and some Fridays are my bigger earning nights doing functions, the rest of my gigs are generally pub/bar work. Like Blue, I love what I do. I may not be a rich man but I'm happy in my work. I approach my gigs with the attitude that I'm going to play to my best ability and put on a good show, like most of the musicians around me. And after all these years I still get excited getting ready to leave the house for a gig. I don't have time for half-arsed performances and attitudes. I do take my work seriously and yes, it's still a job, but it beats doing 40+ hours a week in an office or warehouse. I know this because I've done both. I have the best job in the world and long may it continue.
This is how I approach gigs. Otherwise why bother?
2.
I'm back lusting after a Yamaha 2024x in Vintage White, still the best bass i've ever tried. If only I'd had the £2000 odd asking price they wanted!
Since acquiring a 414, I'm looking in this direction too. Will probably settle for a 424 or a s/h 1024 if I can find one, and the dosh to pay for it...

Pics or it didn't happen!
4. ^^^ Ouch...
5. Lee Sklar is really the only biggie I've met. Such a nice man.
6. Love 'em. Also like other flats, but TIs are a bit special.
7. Otherwise, as above, ask that nice man at Status!
8. In my experience of these, it's wasted effort - whatever you throw at it won't improve it much, because the base bass is basically very good indeed! If you twist my arm....ouch...Hipshot Ultralite tuners for a little weight saving and better balance.
9. If you really need a new neck on this, you got a duff one!
10. Mould. It's got a u. Unless you be American, that is...
11. We've set our first gig in late July. Since the announcement of that, we're already at 3 gigs a month for the rest of the year, 4 in some months. We barely had to mention we were back together, and it all took off by itself. It's a bit nerve-wracking, actually, but in a good way!
12. Never seen one in the flesh, but would like to!
13.
I'm a bit OCD about headstocks being small and symmetrical (headless for bonus points) and bridges being chunk and non-captive e.g. Cool ... Not cool ...
Nope, you got it backward...OCD or not, the top one is ugly.
14. I have a couple of Dunlop Turbo tunes. The bit comes off the handle and fits a power driver. Discontinued, I think, but someone else made knock-offs for a while...
15. As it should be.
16.
My tinnitus.
+1...
17. Blood Sweat and Tears - Spinning Wheel.
18.
I know it's opening a whole can of worms, but can I use a 12" with a 10"?
Yup, only the impedances matter. For example, I use a combo with a 12 and a 15 extension.
19.
My band mates are a lot more generous than me when comes to letting anyone play my bass at my gig. I have a simple standard response; "No" Works like a charm every time. Blue
Yup.
20. Just two. 1) An all-Fender bitsa that started life as a 2004 MIM Precision. This has done maybe 600 gigs all told. The body shows some signs of wear but is still in pretty good nick. 2) A recently acquired Yamaha BB414. Completely stock. Cracking bass. Fender has had 20 mins playing since I got it. Will be looking to move up the BB market, but will stick now with two, and the bitsa is going nowhere.
21. New Old Band Day! Seems like The Rock n Roll Outlaws will live on, despite a year's gap. Only gigging once or twice a month starting late spring/summer, but glad it's revived nonetheless!
22. I have a MIM Standard Precision with an American Special Jazz neck. Very slim a la Geddy, carbon reinforced as per USA Standard, great bass.
23. That's fabulous!
24. Swap the necks, see if the Tokai neck kills the cheapie or the cheapie neck resuscitates the Tokai body...
