1. Short Wave Listening as far as I got. Still have an SSB-capable radio in daily use.
2. Might just need the truss rod adjusting...
3.
It amazes me that some people don't realise that if you gig enough then the only rehearsals you need are for new material or new members. If they can get to practice every week then they can get to a gig every week instead. Or even 2 gigs a month and 1 rehearsal for new stuff.
This. On the other hand, no actual wanting to gig was going on, so right outcome in the end.
4. Someone else's family problems. Grrr... Hard to restart at 62, but hoping to be up and running in a few weeks with an acoustic trio. And NO drummer!
5. Hindsight tells me it was a waste of time and money swapping the pickup. The difference is marginal. I may even put the original back in. It even had reproduction push-back wire! Plastic on the USA... Such a great bass, and not just for the money!
6. SingleMalt bought some straplocks from me - great, smooth transaction and good comms. A pleasure!
7. Samson Airline AP1B - SOLD wireless system, stomp-box-size receiver fits in Boss pedalboards. I've used it for years, it has scuffing etc, but it is utterly reliable. Single AAA battery in bug lasts three 2x1hr gigs if you remember to turn it off during breaks! Runs off PP3 or 9-12v. [s]£75[/s] £65 Strings: 5-string set from Squier P5, almost unused. £5 Boss BCB-30 pedal case, take 3 pedals. Suppied with one signal link cable and the original multi power lead. Needs Boss PSA240 or similar to power up. [s]£20[/s] £15 Cable bundle - SOLD. All tested, 2 around fifteen feet, five of 11 inches[s] £10[/s] £7.50 All items include postage. (Straplocks/Metronome/ IEMs sold)
8. When I do use a metronome, not very often, it must be admitted, I still use a Wittner clockwork pyramid.
9. ^^^ Been heading this way on one or two occasions. Then I just stopped, realised what it was I needed, and settled on that. Two jazz-necked Ps, a P5, and a Kingman acoustic. The Kingman is hardly ever used, probably going to be gone soon. Even the DB is probably going to be on its way in the not-too-distant future...
10. I've used Markbass since 2006, when I got my CMD121H 1x12 combo.I used it for years in rock with a 1x12 extension. It took everything I threw at it. Then relegated to backup for a Little Mark III and Barefaced Super 15. Now the rock is gone, I've put the LMIII into the combo, and keep the original combo head as a spare. Should I ever need to ramp back up to the full 500W, I will buy the matching Traveler 121H cab for a vertical 2x12 rig. I'm unlikely ever to go anywhere else for my loudness!
11. I'm not suggesting all-valve doesn't sound good. It does. But not enough to outweigh (pun intended!) the weight disadvantage. If I didn't have to carry it, I'd be using valves. Not least because I'm a valve trained electronics tech. They're relatively easy to work with. Only the weight is a gigging problem.
12. Frankly, the best thing to do is go SS. IMHO, the difference valves make, be it a hybrid or all-valve, is unpleasantness for hybrids and too much weight for all-valve. Unless you have a roadie.
