Ha, that'd be a bonus, for sure! To be honest, I'm thinking that, what with last year's shoulder shenanigans, this is a bit of a wake-up call. While no spring chicken (67), there's plenty older than me still prancing about. But I am a bit riddled with arthritis, so this isn't going to go away. In many respects, I've been incredibly lucky - the arthritis has stayed away from hips and knees so far. But I'm already unable to walk far without a marked stoop, and need to use sticks if I'm to walk far without crippling pain. So maybe, just maybe, it's time... I'm certainly not giving up altogether. Will still be trying to get the jazz trio off the ground - C-19 paused that - so there are things to do!

Aaaaaaaand...not yay. Music was fine, no issues, but physical things came back to haunt me. I lasted about 10 minutes standing, and still can't walk properly. So, that's it. I hereby resign from band gigs forever. Sit down stuff only now, if at all... On a more positive note, two guitars, bass and drums. And the Elf and One10 owned it.

Welcome, from Tavistock!

Having been 'resting', as the luvvies say, since NYE 2018, tomorrow sees first rehearsal witha new band. I've depped for them before, so less pressure than there might be, but still a little nerve-wracking after all this time. Long day of practice tomorrow! Would have been today too, but other work got in the way. Excited!

Liked the Cobalts when I had them on my P-bass. The brightness is less of an issue currently as I've no idea if I'll be going back into a rock band or not. If so, I'll be getting another set! Otherwise, D'Addario Chromes are pretty bright too, but also able to do mellow. They're a little stiffer than the Cobalts, though, IME.

Any decent inexpensive Fender style machine heads around?
Telebass replied to shoulderpet's topic in Accessories and Misc
Personally, I'd always go Wilkinson, and never ever had a fitting problem, on any Fender/Fender-alike bass. Other than that, I go upwards to Hipshot. But if these work, then they work. I have used similar when cash was tight, and they certainly didn't give any problems. -

Me too, but Markbass on its own also very good. Went thusly: MB CMD121H +Ashdown MAG115Deep, CMD + homemade 1x12, LMIII + BF Super 15, CMD +Traveler115, CMD + Traveler 121H, now Elf + BF One10. Lots of love for Markbass, lots of love for BF also!

What have you got against slap bass?
Telebass replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
Entirely agree! I just continue in a vein that makes it even more difficult, and so easier for me to say, "Nah, don't play that..." -

Exactly. Uppercase bass. There are a few numbers I like that contain slap, but as far as funk goes give me Rocco's finger funk any day... And no, I can't do it. Nor is my bass equipped for it, as it sounds bad slapping with flats...IMHO. -
So, just how many basses do you own ????

Antigua P...Oh. My. God. Want. -
Various Selmer Treble'n'Bass Combos, then a Roost 1x15 folded horn fed by a Vox AC50 head. Lovely!

Yes, pretty sure I got from Andy.

I suspect I'm going to miss my MB rig. It always got complements for sound, allied to my bitsa P. CMD121H and Traveler 121H. Could really dish it out. Now I'll just have to see what I can do with an Elf and a couple of BF One10s.

Not a single gig in 13 months, and won't be until April earliest owing to having to have some more scaffolding in my lower spine. End of March 2019, I was offered some dep work with a band I've played with before, but a piece of my recently reconstructed shoukder broke, so that was that... End of March 2020 will hopefully see me join said band permanently. This will mean several things: 1) Quite a lot of gigging, 60-70 a year. 2) I will need to save gigging cash to add another BF 110 to the micro-rig, just to bring it up out of the need for PA support. 3) I will need some really good new earplugs! Exciting times for a 67-year-old!

Very little used.Battery or phantom-powered stage DI box. Here's the spec from Behringer: Professional and multi-purpose direct injection box for stage and studio applications Provides impedance and signal matching for the direct connection of instruments to mixers and amplifiers Ultra-flat frequency response due to renowned Behringer OT-1 transformer Internal battery automatically shuts off when phantom power is applied Allows direct connection to speaker outputs with up to 3,000 Watts Switchable input attenuation allows input levels of up to +50 dB Ground Lift switch eliminates typical ground loop problems ¼“ TRS and gold-plated XLR connectors Ultra-rugged, road-suitable aluminum case Stackable oversized rubber corners It's been sat in my bag as a standby for lo, these many moons. I've certainly no use for it in the future, so... Price is delivered, any questions, fire away. Edit: I have cleaned off the markings!

Classic Smoothhound wireless system. Transmitter bug case is broken, hence price, but it all still works as it should. Any questions, fire away. If you can pick it up, then £40. Otherwise £45 includes postage. Note: Smoothhound will repair the bug for around £20 if you send it to them, so this could be very cost-effective to get an essentially 100% system.

Brilliant, don't ask don't get! :D

@obbm, for the same reasons, I swapped to a Jazz neck, the thinnest I could get. This turned out to be an American Special, new, from that there Stratosphere guy on Ebay. Wasn't cheap, but did the job. I had previously experimented with this setup, so knew it would likely work. As a trial, I used a Squier VM77 Jazz neck which was every bit as good and comfortable.
-
This was great, but stupidly heavy at nearly 14 pounds!
-
Looks to be a very similar construction, not quite identical. I'd be willing to bet it's pretty similar internally.

What would your signature instrument be?
Telebass replied to AngelDeVille's topic in General Discussion
Essentially, a Precision. Standard BBOT bridge, KioGon vintage circuit, slim, almost Geddy Lee Jazz neck, maple, standard USA pickups, black paint, BWB guard. Oh look, here it is!
