1. Oh, and by the way, I take back all I said elsewhere about the lack of difference between 1/2 and 3/4. Even on these two cheapies, the difference is very very obvious!
2. As above, I find it strangely easier to play than the 1/2...The action could be better (as Raslee will attest, the 1/2 is very good in this respect), but the sound is huge by comparison, even with my limited knowledge of how to extract anything from it! It is altogether a more impressive beast. I cannot as yet fit the pickup I got from Lee, as the bridge wing slots are much wider than the 1/2. However, I will get it set up with EP Weichs, and an adjustable bridge if funds allow. At that point, I can also get hold of some maple slivers to allow me to fit the pickup and preamp - unless the new bridge fits better!
3. It's certainly a more commanding prescence sonically and visulally!
4. I use two bitsas. Both are Precisions, both have Jazz necks. Both sound like a Precision should, with the bonus of wonderfully slim shallow necks. They're not really Fenders or Squiers, they're mine. They work. Job done.
5. Different here, Blue. Unless you're a really awful band, closing time is when they are baying for it the most. RRO's closers: Whole Lotta Rosie, and if needed, Freebird, if not done already.
6. Definitely one of those can't-stop-grinning evenings!
7. No, all-ply, but it sounds louder and better than the G4M 1/2, by a long way. Definitely needs new strings. Despite it being a proper 104cm 3/4, I am already finding the intonation easier...weird...
8. It's a Carlo Giordano SB120EW - possibly a hybrid. At the price I paid, I don't rightly care!
9.
You forgot to mention that it has a capped maple neck, the only bass in the Fender range with this neck construction since the '66 slab Precisions.
All American Standard, Deluxe, Special, and even the Mexican Standard- all maple fbs are caps, even the ones with skunk stripes. There have been other random examples since the 60s. The earliest Telecaster Basses in 68 were also caps.
10. Doesn't give the right impression of its impressiveness! Glad you're liking the sound!
11. Pork Pie Hat acquired! Just need to get the appropriate gig picture!

Just sold a neck to Steve, great comms all round, and very understanding when UPS decided to to take New Year's Eve off...
13. In overall good condition, cosmetically around 90%. Electrically in full working order. Bought for a project a couple of years ago, and never used. Includes a printout of the manual, bound in a folder. Price includes delivery, however, I'd prefer collection. If collected, then £250.00 Specs here: http://mackie.com/pd...04vlz_contr.pdf
14. Let's be clear - there are few ABGs that can cope acoustically at all, no matter the price. The Tacoma Thunderchief was probably best of the reasonably sized ones. As to the Kingman - use a small backline amp. I use an old Bassman 25, more than sufficient for acoustic gigs. I also use a feedback buster soundhole plug to ensure no feedback. I don't use it that often. I've strung it with 50-105 Fender flats, and it sounds fine. The neck is superb, if you like slim Jazz necks.
15. In very good condition. Just a little paint scuffed off edge of pedal. Has been used for one song per gig, and has lived most of its life in a Boss BCB-30 pedal case. In original box, with all paper and a Boss link cable for good measure! Price includes postage.
16. I've sort of gone down this route. Main bass is a MIM P with an American Special Jazz neck. Backup is a Squier VM Precision fretless which now wears a VM77 Squier Jazz neck. Also have a Squier P5, and very good it is too.
17. Also, More Than Words, Extreme. Nice to do your own thing on, or really lay back and keep it simple. Play it in F# (detuned a semitone on the record, they play it in G) and try to use absolute minimum hand movement. I have small hands, so it was tough, but got easier!
