1. I'm loving this bass. Lovely low action, sounds great, not too heavy. Would definitely benefit from some Hipshot Ultralights. But then, all my basses would!
2. I've spent 40+ years keeping that big F on my headstock. And that was probably fine. But my two main basses are now Squiers, aP/J hybrid and a P5. The Fender P is the backup...And very good it is too, but the hybrid smokes it. Has uograded tuners and pickup, all else is stock. Nowt wrong with cheap these days. However, as Blue says, back in the day, it wasn't quite such an easy choice.
3. Have done one rehearsal with it so far. My wrist noticed it, but we were at it for 5 hours! Picking up the main 4-string, the neck feels like a toothpick! Proper standing-up audition/rehearsal tonight with a blues band!
4. I'll be doing this to all three of my Ps as funds allow. It will take the sunburst 4 down to 6.5 pounds, the 5 down to 8.4. My shoulder is drooling at the prospect!
5. I'm out of the running now, but someone has posted in Wanted for a 121h, IIRC.
6. Hellmans!
7. Mansons bass selection has reduced a bit, as has the display space for them. I'd not be too surprised if there's not much bass there at all in a year or two...
8. Tascam trainers. Precisely what they're for.
9. Show her some Haim videos. She'll not complain again...
10. I might go wild at some later point and buy a VM Jazz V, then swap the necks, just so they all have blocks!
11. I now have two Squiers as my main basses, with a Fender as the second backup!
12. Family
13. Until recently, yes, but got my Squier Telebass back, so am legal again!
14. Had one of these lined up at GAK in Brighton, ready to get in return for the Alien. Poor setup. Quite bulky neck. They took it away to their tech, who tweaked it some. Still not wonderful. While the tweaking was in progress, I copped a fondle of the sunburst model. Very different. Slimmer front to back, action much lower, felt very good. I'll probably be able to improve it more once I have some flats on it. Just goes to show, you need to feel the goods! That and a Hiscox plus some cash, I is a happy bunny! Pics on Saturday!
15. Well, I didn't get a white one...
16. Wise choice if you can't assemble it yourself.
17. Cables properly coiled and secured with Velcro ties, all kept in a basic holdall. The only exception is the custom OBBM cable for my IEM transmitter, and that lives with said transmitter.
18. Job done.
19. Hope to get one of these this week!
20. Cheap if you can collect tomorrw!
21. That's the point. If you want it unique, assemble your own. Both my gigging basses are bitsas!
22. Badass III will not fit on an American Special. They have standard bridges, ie 5-screw as in MIM basses, and no string-through.
23. What I meant was that I don't bother with anything properly local. As I occasionally have to go to London, Wunjos is where I go. Job done. Edit: this week, as there's a bit of a road trip happening, I get to go to GAK AND Wunjos! Much mileage...
24.
I always wonder how many die hard passive bass only users connect directly (or via a wireless ) into an active preamp EQ section? If I put a stock Encore P bass into my Shuttlemax9.2 head I can boost all sorts of stuff and make it sound mega, get that bass home and plug it into a 15 watt combo and it sounds poop!
Precisely. The amp is for the major settings. Not relevant whether the amp's tone stack is active or passive.
