1. Killer 2x15 for the money. Near twice the weight of mine, but sure enough the next best. Why is this still here?
2. If still available, might be up in London over the next few weeks. Possible meet?
3. Puzzled...If that's a USA Jazz, then originally it was string-thru. Why would anyone want to change that to a Badass AND have to drill holes to do it?
4. Interested if not busy, but would prefer Exeter. Am in West Devon, and will car pool. Deano, round trip from Wadebridge is 140 miles. Do that to pub gigs.
5. Now sold. Sorry for delay in posting this - managed to drown my phone whilst camping!
6. Headlined the Cornwall VW Owners Club Festival at Stithians, near Redruth. Incredibly large crowd, comfortably into 4 figures!
7. My Squier VM Precision TB came back to me a couple of months ago. Don't use it much, but at least my user name has some validity again!
8.
Easily the best shop in Denmark street
Easily the best music shop, period! It's my local. I live in Devon.
9. Set of Genuine Fender pickup and bridge covers for '57-style Precision Bass. Condition would be slightly off 'Closet Classic', ie pretty nice, but not unmarked. Price includes 2nd class postage!
10. The only Gibson I'd live with is an EB2-D.
11. Ian actually lives somewhere nearer Exeter these days! He does excellent work. If you do decide to trek to Plymouth, try Tom Anfield in Saltash. He's a wizard.
12. If rounds are ok, what about Ernie Ball 6-string Slinky Bass Guitar w/ small ball end 29 5/8 scale .020w - .090( 2837) - £13.95. They are for the Silhouette Bass Guitar, which is 29.5" scale. However, they may be too short because of the trem...
13.
As much as I love everything about the jazz bass, the sound of a Precision with flats is the sound in my head and that's something I can never escape from, so it has to be a precision for me. Luckily I've stumbled across the revelation of getting a jazz neck profile on a Precision and now I get the best of both. Playability of a jazz and the tone of a precision. Never looking back.
Great, isn't it?
14. One bonus is that the agathis VM P is very light. Sounds the same. Who needs alder?
15. Seems weirdly prescient, seeing that black P-bass. I put mine together (after the original neck went bad) to be a blackguard version of the custom-order shown on page 54 of The Fender Bass: A History. That one, and mine had the A width Jazz-type neck. I know there was a MIJ 70s P, but that had a B neck width, as does this Squier. Otherwise, I'd probably be getting one as a backup backup!
16. If the neck doesn't work out, see if you can get hold of a Squier VM77 Jazz neck. have one on my gigging P, and it's wonderful.
17. This goes just as much for very expensive ones. A weakness in undersaddle pickups, methinks, when applied to bass.
18. Around 330 new. Well within your budget if bought used from on here, for example. Washburns also, as anove.
19.
There are awards for it. They're called a bad back and impaired hearing
Oh how true this is!
20. I'm with you, Blue. Must be in a gigging band. It has to pay, because I have few other ways of keeping bread on the table. But I do enjoy it. I too am getting on a bit, 61, but there's no stopping now. Bad shoulders, back, and eyes have all been repaired to keep me going! My main band for nearly 8 years stops at Christmas, so I've changed direction to an acoustic covers trio. The new bit for me is it's MY band. Looking forward to seeing how it pans out!
21. For those of upright persuasion, check out Liz Frencham from Oz. Very nice sounds!
22. Beyond accepting that apart from home noodling, these things do need amplification, world's your oyster. A Fender Kingman is as good as any, but pushes your budget unless s/h. Almost certainly plenty on Thomann and GAK.
