1. This goes just as much for very expensive ones. A weakness in undersaddle pickups, methinks, when applied to bass.
2. PS - you can't have mine!
3. Around 330 new. Well within your budget if bought used from on here, for example. Washburns also, as anove.
4.
There are awards for it. They're called a bad back and impaired hearing
Oh how true this is!
5. I'm with you, Blue. Must be in a gigging band. It has to pay, because I have few other ways of keeping bread on the table. But I do enjoy it. I too am getting on a bit, 61, but there's no stopping now. Bad shoulders, back, and eyes have all been repaired to keep me going! My main band for nearly 8 years stops at Christmas, so I've changed direction to an acoustic covers trio. The new bit for me is it's MY band. Looking forward to seeing how it pans out!
6. For those of upright persuasion, check out Liz Frencham from Oz. Very nice sounds!
7. Beyond accepting that apart from home noodling, these things do need amplification, world's your oyster. A Fender Kingman is as good as any, but pushes your budget unless s/h. Almost certainly plenty on Thomann and GAK.
8. The middle one is pure Squier, with some minor upgrades. .
9. Used one of these for years - bought it new in 1980. Good amp.
10. Done my own SQUIER custom p already. Sunburst with all maple white/pearl blocks/binding. And the black one also, but that's a Fender bitsa rather than Squier. The Squier wins, though. That's my go to bass.
11. My home bass shop. And I live in Devon!
12. Bump for final price drop!
13. Cut-down TI Jazz Flats on the Alien, Fender 9050s (?) 55-105 on the Kingman.
14. Regret: '69 Telecaster bass. It just worked, on every level. Glad to be rid of: '68 Jazz Bass. It just didn't work, on any level.
15. Will check that out immediately!
16. Wedding gig at Tavistock Town Hall. Extraordinarily hot! Definitely lost a few pounds!
17. Jeezus, even my plexiglass one wasn't that heavy!
18.
Your bitsa P is literally half the weight of the last one I played
It really is almost toy-like. I can wear it for hours and not notice. If I did the Hipshot Ultralites mod, it would not only be better balanced, but half a pound lighter still! The only fly in that ointment, if you like, is that the tuners would almost be more expensive than the rest of the bass!
19. The scales back up results I've had before. Thwe Squier Bitsa is my main gigging bass because it weighs nothing. The perfectly normal weight Fender now seems MUCH too heavy! Try a current VM Precision. the6y weigh nothing at all! In fact, I may have to go the route of Hipshot Ultalite tuners eventually, because it's not as well balanced as it could be.
20. For no particular reason other than curiosity...and a new set of scales! Cheapie off ebay, but seems pretty good. If you looked for similar, they're the ones with a smiley face! Fender Kingman acoustic ---- 6.5lb Squier Bitsa Precision -------- 6.8lb Warwick 'The Alien' 4 --------- 7.1lb Squier VM P TB --------------- 8.7lb Fender MIM P Bitsa ---------- 8.8lb
21.
Kiogon wiring loom, look no further Spb-1 is good, antiquity 2 is also lovely
The SPB-2 is good also, a little hotter.
22. Bump, lower price!
23. Great! Mary Tavy Inn, Devon. Home crowd, wonderful evening!
24. Trios rock! My band 'upgraded' to a second guitarist (very good he is, too), and I've not enjoyed it nearly so much. Ah well, that band ceases come December. ..
