Well, I'm more than happy with my £250 Squier VM Precision. Neck swap, new tuners and pickups, say another 75 squids. Sounds great, looks good, weighs 6.9lbs. Job done.

If you're concerned about the isolation of IEMs, then maybe they are not for you. However, there are workarounds. Buy something expensive, like ACS T1 Lives, which have their own anti - isolation technology built in, or, much cheaper, put a spare mic at the back of the band facing outward. Personally, I just like the peace and quiet of being isolated!

Get a Squier VM Fretless Precision and do the neck swap. Change the pckup also if you want. Lightest Precision you'll ever own, guaranteed.

Used an AC50 head for years. Great amp.

On mine, I left everything stock except the pickup (and the previously mentioned neck!). Installed a Seymour Duncan SPB-2. The electronics work fine - not broke, so I didn't fix it. Hardware wise, bridge is fine, put different tuners on, but probably didn't need to.

Keep spare strings and bits and bobs in large Haribo tubs, well washed, with silica gel packs. The local sweet shop puts them out for re-use.
