1. My gig was this afternoon in the middle of Redruth, so no clashes! Not that I'm going to watch anything so crass as a football match. Early to bed with a Tom Clancy!
2.
six days out of seven says it will be raining
True, but even down here in the boonies, I'm sure we can manage something under cover!
3.
Can we make waistcoats and lunging stances mandatory?
Definitely.
4. The other blocks/binding necks I have or have had didn't have them, but if the Geddy has them, maybe someone somewhere took a more general decision to start including them.
5. Don't know if the VM 70s have them also... I may have to blank it out, it's bugging me!
6. Good luck with the gig! Still looking to have the Traveler if the Super 15 sells!
7. You couldn't get a maple cap at that point normally, only athe standard one-piece as a special option. There were some other maple cap anomalies in the Jazz and Telecaster bass lines a little later.
8. I've just noticed sonething odd and mildly unsettling about the VM77 neck I just put on my Precision. It has a first fret side dot. Now I've seen it, it cannot be unseen, as it were... Weird...
9. Just point out where the steroids were injected...and why it would make any difference. Doesn't matter what JE said, the electronics are stock. On the other hand, he also said the body made no difference. What's left? The cap neck. However, the later batch with rosewood boards were also supposed to sound different, and apart from the body, they were bog-standard Precisions.
10. Nice! Likes me a good bitsa, me!
11. I have one of each. I gig the Squier.
12. P - 1.5" - Blocks/Binding - Sonic Blue. P - 1.5" - Blocks/Binding - Candy Apple Red Would have preferred Olympic White as an option... MUST HAVE tort guards. The downside for me would be the matching headstocks. To me, they rarely look anything but cheap. I wanna see that wood!
13. The VM77 neck profile is very slim, close to an American Special Jazz. Me likey!
14. Well worth modding the neck if you're otherwise happy with it. If you must have a new neck, go to Martin Sims. http://www.simscustom.com/html/00necks.htm
15. Agreed, the G, and the D if not too long, go on untrimmed. Edit: I find it helps to use the type of string winder that fits into an electric screwdriver!
