1.
Its a post '58 Precision bass with the colour scheme and (some) aesthetics of a '50s Telecaster guitar. The maple neck, uncontoured body, black pickguard and translucent white finish all nod towards those guitars.
Exactly ( or perhaps, Precisely? ). There were no Telecaster basses before 1968, so these are Precisions, pure and simple.
2. Nobody should be using multi-kW PAS in small venues. Even one with a really loud drummer doesn't need more than 300W per side, no point in DI-ing below about 200 capacity venue. Never understood why people lug such mounds of kit about.
3. Rats, posted this as sold ages ago - from my phone. Won't do that again!
4. Russ recently bought my CEB-3 pedal. Smooth transaction and excellent comms!
5. Played for the penultimate time at the Courthouse bar at the Arundell Arms Hotel in Lifton, Devon. Packed to the rafters. The final one there will either be even more packed, or completely empty...
6. All of the Indonesian Squiers I have had/played have been very good indeed.
7. The neck on my fretless P is so nice, I wish it were fretted! But as that's unlikely to be a viable proposition, any one fancy a swap? Or outright purchase as I have dibs on a nice VM77 neck! 80 quid bare or 100 with tuners and string tree. The tuners are Wilkinson HWJB200s.
8. Annoyingly, after posting above, I realised a need for the TU-12, and dug it out. Doesn't work any more...
9. For quiet rehearsal, a 25W 1x10 combo. Louder practice and small/medium gigs, a 300W 1x12 combo. Loud rock? 500W head and 2x15 cab! Boom!
10. I have a VM Fretless Precision. Great bass. Don't use it much, though. The neck is so nice, I might just get it fretted!
11. I have a TU-12 that I bought in Matt Umanovs on Bleeker Street in 2004, and a TU-2 I got a couple of years later. The TU-12 isn't that giggable or quick, but a great tuner. The TU-2 is simply the best.
12. Similarly, JamesXP, my near - identical Precision had a workout through the big rig last night, doing a Rock 'n' Roll Outlaws gig, which are now few and far between. Good gig, all sounded great!
13. Wowsers, great stuff! Warwick and Framus used to do a monthly prize draw on Facebook - maybe they still do? - and I religiously entered every one that I was interested in. Thought no more about it. Then one day, an email arrived from Warwick asking for my shipping address!
14. Oh, and the ebony soundhole ring is plastic these days too.
15. I seriously doubt you'll find anywhere with one to try, and remember that even 'The Alien', as the top range ones are called, is now Chinese - built. This has not reduced the the price!
16. Try asking on the Warwick forum, often the quickest way. If not, I have an internal email address from when I won my fretted four last year.
17. Ah, crap. But if it fixes the problem. ..
18. Pic aded to earlier post!
