1.
Some may find this a surprise but I know there'll come a time when I stop gigging - and I mean well before I get physically incapable. I've been gigging now for 35 years. That's thousands of gigs. I definitely don't enjoy it as much as I did. One of these days , probably sooner than later , I'll stop and move on to the next thing. Life's too big to do anything forever in my opinion. I often think I'd like to try acting in some form. Venues changing or vanishing and audience indifference don't concern me at all - I've never paid punters much respect and have always considered landlords and small time promoters a bunch of clueless tossers. I've always done it soley for my own enjoyment and the joy of playing with my peers. So when I stop it'll be for me alone , not because I feel driven to by others. I certainly don't feel too old. just the opposite. I feel young enough to say ' that was good...now , what's next? '
Great post.
2. Currently has a set of cut down 34" Ti Jazz Flats on it. Sounds great! Will get a set of JF342s when I can afford it. Can't say when theses wear out - they probably never will!
3. Apologies, missed this. Still available!
4. Flyfisher, all I said is what works for me. How you read into that a downer on people who don't gig, I'm not sure. Rhys P, I have sympathy for some of what you say also. The point being that there's a good and bad side to gigging, no question.
5.
Sounds like you need a precision with a slim/jazz profile neck
Precisely what I use. Bloody marvellous.
6. Bump for black pickguard screws.
7. Well, I'm no ego-driven soul, but even so, the gig's the thing. Quite apart from putting food on the table, there's no point in playing if you don't gig.
8. Bump for new financial year...
9. Spec looks pretty 'vintage' - could well be worth a punt.
10. No waiting! Voted.
11. I have a Warwick Alien, my only non-34" bass. Am growing into liking it a lot.
12. Just chilling after a hugely enjoyable gig at the Wharf here in Tavistock. Real party vibe, everyone simply having fun and enjoying the music!
13.
I have tried a few bridges but always end up going back to the good old BBOT it does what it should and you can adjust it easily and also it does not cost the earth I am currently using Wilkinson "BBOT" bridges on 2 basses and cannot fault them
This. Other bridges are available! But BBOTs are simplest and best.
14. Just two. Ampeg ASB-1 and Gibson EB-2.
15. UPS via interparcel. Very pleased with that service.
16. I actually don't like going to any gigs. At all. I don't want to watch someone else playing - I want to be gigging!
17. 100mm, sorry this took so long!
