1.
I've given up or passed on so much over the years because of gigging. I like time off from it. I have my boat , I like to walk across France or over the Pennine hills , I can get on with bits of recording for my own amusement , I can go to the ballet , I can paint up my tiny tanks and model a battleground for them etc etc. Gigging's a part of life - but life is bigger. I have a gig tonight but I'm heading for the 3 peaks tomorrow. Funnily enough the last time I was on top of Penyghent some hombre I don't know wandered straight up to me and said 'Dr f***ing Blue - great gig mate ' !!
Excellent!
2. Well, not really, but it's the first time for a goodly while!
3. Knew that must be Steve as soon as you mentioned the nail varnish!

7. DAvid bought some Squier tuners from me. Good easy transaction!
8. I used to use valve amps back in the days when there wasn't a choice. Heavy. Unreliable (and I knew how to keep it fettled!). Sounded fabulous. I always wanted a silver face 50w Bassman and 2x15, but couldn't lift the cab. Now I have the Barefaced Super 15, which sounds like a 2x15 should, and a Little Mark III. Good as valves sound, this is also very good. I would say that there's not too much difference. Certainly some, but not much.

10. Al just bought some Squier electronics from me. Great transaction, excellent communication, all good! Ta!
11. My Fender Kingman is tamed nicely by a Feedback Buster.
12.
Sod what anyone else thinks, buy and play whatever bass you think works for you as a player
This. x200
13. Barring Paul's comfort issues, I can see no reason, ever, to replace a BBOT. There are no strings in existence that could conceivably make one bend or be in any way less rigid than, say, a BAII. Those are made from zinc alloy, massively less rigid than the standard steel bridge. Hence the need for a bigger block of it. Can see the point of string change slots though...
14. We were supposed to play at the Poachers in Roche, Cornwall, but it has closed. Fortunately, the local social club, the Victory Hall, took on the remaining bookings. They did a couple of months' business just last night! Cracking gig!
15. I've had a CMD121H for 8 years now. With an extension, on half volume, it was comfortably filling a 400-seater. EQ flat as above. Amazing combos. It has spent the last year as a spare, but as my main band winds down, it's getting the new gigs in the blues and jazz bands. I'll say it again - great combos.
