1. Telebass

Sold Out!

Soneone has organised photos and video, so will see what I can post later next week!
2. If you REALLY want the longer stems but don't have spare wads of cash for the real thing, get a set of Wilkinson HWJB200 tuners. They have precisely the correct look, from the fron at least! Around 25 squids delivered off evilbay.
3. I've found, since I rebuilt all the FrankenFenders the last time, that I play just the two. Even the super-slim American Special Jazz tempts me not a bit. And I've found I've had many opportunities to go to Mansons and browse...and couldn't be bothered. What would I look at? I'd rather have more space than unused basses! Sure, there's a little bit of me that wants to keep them all, but they just get in the way, frankly. If I'm honest, being GAS-free in this way is a bit disappointing, but also strangely liberating!
4. What Dom said The bridge cover also covered the mutes and gave some measure of shielding to the bridge pickup. The shielding idea also applies to the other cover/pickup. But mostly what Dom said...
5. Going to reduce to one one fretted, one fretless, one acoustic. All else will have to go. No space for them, they don't get played. Be gone, oh ye superfluous beasties!
6. Played a live session (two numbers) for eatmusic.co.uk, a local community radio station, currently internet only, FM coming soon. Used the Alien acosutic for the first time in anger. Was hard work, frankly! I have my electrics down to very very easy playability, so this was definitely an effort. Bronze rounds certainly were a big part of that. Despite all this, it was enjoyable, and a little nerve-racking, playing live on-air!
7. First proper gig for Russell with a full band. He's normally a solo blues guy. Now with keys/horns, drums and bass added, it's a whole new sound! Free!
8. Telebass

Sold Out!

Will see what transpires!
9. Last Saturday at Charlie's Live Lounge in Exeter. 6 flights of stairs! Much bad throatness for everyone. Detune a semitone to try and ease vocal pain. Sounded like bad karaoke. About 15 people there. Well treated and properly paid, no issues there. Big one at the Wharf in Tavy this Saturday - hope we're all feeling better!
10. 2nd half available now! Will be listening to this later today!
11.
Bass ... top end ... sizzly ... does not compute ... error ... tilt ...
This. So I got a Super 15.
12. Is it actually supposed to have 12AX7s? Pretty high gain valves, great for guitar.
13. The tuners on the Nate are Schaller BMFLs and do not have the longer stems. Schallers were used 76 on.

15. Years ago, I played an unlined Precision. I recently purchased a lined Squier. While I'm grateful for the lines, I'd still like another crack at an unlined board...
16.
X-Factor for musicians ?! Why not extend that to X-Factor for watchmakers, X-Factor for kitchen fitters, X-Factor for rock climbers ? Because no-one would watch it. Despite us musicians thinking we are very, very important, and overlooked and undervalued, it's the singer in popular music that the audience identifies with. The audience knows what makes them feel good, they can identify with the singer. They understand words and the voice expressing them. They connect with the look and movements and facial expressions of the singer. Instrumental music confuses the average listener, they don't understand what makes a good drummer, a good guitarist, a good keyboard player, a good bassist. It's backing for the singer and if it sounds good and it makes the singer sound good, that's the extent of their interest. You may think that's unfair, but that's the way it is. That is why Edward Van Halen hardly got recognised in the street, and why David Lee Roth could silence any restaurant when he walked in. I've said it before but so many posts on here about X-Factor indicate the poster has no idea what the programme is. They think it is about music. It isn't, music is simply a conduit for the competition and the associated entertainment. Singers generate reaction and opinion even if those reactions and opinions are from the clueless, they generate in the audience a passionate sense of good and bad, right and wrong, justice and injustice. So they watch and vote and help create the hysteria. Show me an instrumentalist who can generate that kind of reaction.
Exactly.
