1. Thanks! Will look for synth sw tomorrow!
2. And it sounded just fine on the gig. Which it probably would have done no matter how I set it!
3. I approached this weaker magnet idea another way. Another effect of weaker magnets is slightly improved sustain due to less 'pull'. I installed a SD SBP-2 in my new bitsa. This has standard magnets, but is overwound. By setting it a bit lower, the magnetic interference is reduced a bit, with the hotter wind bringing the signal back up a bit. That's my theory, and I'm sticking to it. Good excuse to buy a new pickup, anyway!
4. Gigged the new lightweight bass last night - what a difference a pound and a half makes! Like air bass with strings!
5. I played a fretless P, inspired by the guy in Peter Frampton's band, for years in an ordinary rock context. It was just a bass. With no frets...I now have another and will doubtless do the same again!
6. And thasnks for offereing to explain! You want your Precision set up, I'm your man, but this?
7. Yup, aware it's just a controller, but where from there? Sequencer? Presumably I need a DAW which will do a lot if not all of this?
8. Brand new, removed and replaced with CTS pots and Switchcraft socket. Includes postage. As can be seen, the card mount is custom made by our very own Kiogon!
9. Ok, I have this MIDI keyboard. How on earth do I get it to make a noise? Clueless with this, although comfortable with PCs. Help! Ta!
10. Have a little used set of these that I had on the Pawn Shop Mustang. Very little use, includes postage.
11. Closed top P pickups with 'Celinder' written all over them! Sound fine, but I've never liked the look, so I replaced them today. Price includes postage. Edit: I believe these are built for Celinder by Kent Armstrong.
12. So, I've ended up with three nice Precisions. My 2003/4 MIM is back to wearing the black blocks/binding Jazz neck. The new Squier VM fretless body now wears the American Special Jazz neck, and. at sub 7lbs, will be the main gigging bass. The fretless Squier neck is now on a Squier PJ body, a faux Tony Franklin if you will. Oh, and a new Seymour Duncan SBP-2 in the main gigger!
13. Well, despite the best of intentions, last night and today has seen an orgy of neck-swapping and pickup changing, and leaving anything as stock is seemingly beyond me. While I'm entirely happy with the outcomes, why is it that we seem to tinker so much with these damn things?
14. 250 - and if I could find a fretted one that light, it would be my main bass immediately!
15. And here it is. Have changed the knobs and fitted Schaller strap lock pins, otherwise stock, and staying that way. I is liking it a lot!
16. Greetings, one and all! This Jazz was bought by me purely for the neck, which now resides on my main gigging Precision. It now wears an all-maple Mighty Mite neck, but aside from that, it's all Fender Amercian Special. Condition is fair to good. There are a couple of dings in the front, and quite a lot of fine scratching to the back. Not much actual wear as such. The MM neck is in very good condition, just about unused, in fact. Includes Fender Deluxe gig bag, and courier post. Thanks for looking!
17.
I pretty much exclusively play flats these days to get rid of the finger noise, I can still get a reasonably trebly brightness with them. easier on teh fingertips too. Don't think Ill be going back to rounds anytime soon
+ 1.
18. Just got home! Pics tomorrow. Did weigh it, though - 6.9lb!
