Well the previously mentioned Squier P-J is one new one. Ridiculously good for the money.
Then today I read the email.
"Conratulations..."
Oh, here we go...
"You have won the prize draw for the Warwick Alien acoustic bass on Facebook"
I suppose Facebook had to be good for something!
Ok, having had a few hours to spare a bit too close to Denmark Street, I bought a Squier Affinity P-J. I intend to mix and match parts with the Plexiglass P to make myself a P-J version of my go-to Precision.
The kudos? Wunjo's Bass Centre. Endlessly helpful nice people who cared for a customer who wasn't spending lots, yet without asking, gave him the best possible deal.
In my opinion, it rarely gets better than that.
Played at a wedding in a country pub on Saturday. Great fun, a lot if friends there, and support from a 3-piece acoustic band of violin (5-string,), guitar, and on squeeze box and spoons, Mr Geoff Lakeman, father of Seth!
I've yet to hear the slightest degradation in tone or sustain when removing BAIIs and replacing them with BBsOT. And I've done it on both Ps and Js of various pedigree.
No difference. Nada. Zilch.
Just half a pound lighter.

As propounded above, one should always have someone at both ends of the load-out - someone by the van, someone with the gear inside the venue.
The problems start when you're in a three-piece. Either one person carries everything out or there's a complicated little waltz where A goes out to B from C then B goes back to C who goes out to A and then your head explodes and you forget your extension board.

This, says bass player in a 3-piece...
Short notice gig at the London Inn, Okehampton. Was a multi band affair with us headlining. Was one of those gigs where you can do no wrong. Brilliant!

And a bad back!
LMIII and BF Super 15. Doesn't get a lot more vintage than that, especially with a Precision. Add in your favourite VT sim and Robert is your mother's brother.
Weight of entire stack - 56lb. However, the cab is still a 2x15 when all is said and done, so is bulky.
