1. At the moment I am averaging 55 to 70 gigs a year. At (currently) not less than 70 squids per person per gig, that's...not a lot, even when the functions and weddings double and occasionally triple it. But it would make life vastly more difficult if I couldn't do it.
2. The deluxe bridges are 3 screw and were for top or through body stringing. This pattern of bridge started with the first American Standard basses. For a MIM bass, a standard 5 screw BBOT is what fits. The only other basses the deluxe bridges drop into are the 51RI/ and Telecaster bssses.
3.
Personally I'd like a thumbrest, Ebony or Rosewood, would rather have no pickguard or screw holes & no BadAss but that's just me quite nice though
Precisely correct.
4. Another bassist for the big gig in the sky. RIP.
5. Wilkinson HWJB200 tuners are great. They are, IMHO, the best tuners if you want the long-stemmed 66-75 look for your Fender. And usually under 25 squids a set. What's not to like?
6. ^^^ Makes sense. The only realistic difference between the two methods is that one clamps the bridge down, while the other tries to tear it off. The oddball in that scenario is a two piece bridge, where both clamping and tearing are part of the mix...
7. Oh, and last night finished recording our album!
8. Busy weekend. 40th Birthday near Okehampton on Friday night, very good, more bookings will flow! Saturday, 2 gigs. Another 40th from 7 until 8 in St Austell, then tear down and drive to the the Bugle Inn, in, er, Bugle, and be rocking at 9.30! And from both of these, yet more potential bookings, in Newquay!
9. Okay, have sold enough to pay for the Mustang, so trades are the order of the day. Looking at Precisions with Jazz necks, Yamaha BBs, 4 string only. Another (not Pawn Shop) Mustang, maybe. ???
10. Agreed on it as a great short scale. Love mine!
11. Rescued from the smoking remains of an active Thomann monitor. Perfectly usable small passive stage monitor. Speakon connector.
12. One is a weighted disc base Quicklock, the other a JHS tripod base. Neither have booms or mic clips. Yours if you wanna come get 'em!
13. Some great posts here! However, as a tech, there are fewer things worse to clean than a Jamerson style fingerboard... I give my bass a good wipe down after every gig with a good quality microfibre cloth. Particularly as I string with TI Jazz Flats. They are too expensive not to look after!
14. Yup, that's a bit far, although only a few miles from my home town - South Ockendon! On a more general note - a yamaha bb 424/x would be interesting...
15. I'll take PayPal if you pay the fees/gift it. Would prefer bank transfer but whatever, we can sort something out!
16. Bump for status change - trades now considered. Looking for a P with J neck, preferably maple. Or a Mustang.
