  1. Hi Matthew, I'm very sorry to hear this but glad you opened up this thread where he could be celebrated and remembered. Here he is at my 50th where he chose 'Walk on the Wild Side' for my Desert Island Discs' which we all played- yes 2 basses on that famous bass part... all the best, joe
  2. Sorry about you back. This is a beautiful instrument, GLWTS, joe
  3. Sammybee bought an Audio Interface from me, paid promtly and stayed in touch until he'd received it and tested it- it worked as well as promised! It all went extreamly well, thanks, joe
  4. Sammybee bought an Audio Interface from me, paid promtly and stayed in touch until he'd received it and tested it- it worked as well as promised! It all went extreamly well, thanks, joe
  5. Have a look at 'Scot's bass lessons' online- it's about far more than bass lessons! enjoy the low end, joe
  6. I priced it low to sell it quickly but the low price might put people off- It's in perfect condition!
  7. I'm downsizing since my move from London (www.joereadmusic.com) and this excellently reviewed Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 Interface is up for sale. The Focusrite 18i8's 4 x warm microphone preamps and 24-bit/96kHz D/A converters are hugely respected and reviewed. I've recorded many albums using this ultra-reliable interface. I include the USB cable, Wall wart power and the Getting Started Guide. This Scarlett 18i8 1st Generation measures 2.6 by 8.9 by 7.1 inches (HWD) and weighs 3.6 pounds. The front panel contains four mic preamps each with its own input gain knob, direct instrument LED, and pad LED. Halo indicators around each gain knob light up green when you have useful input signal, and red when you need to turn the gain down. There are two 48V phantom power buttons, one for each pair of mic preamps. To the right of the preamps, there's an oversize silver Monitor volume knob, a Mute button, a MIDI activity LED, and a USB power LED. Finally, there are two independent headphone jacks, each with its own silver volume knob. The back panel contains SPDIF in and out ports a hardware power switch, a DC power input for the included wall wart-style power supply, 5-pin MIDI input and output jacks, a USB port, and an optical input for transferring in up to eight ADAT channels, for a total of 18 inputs. To the right are a pair of 1/4-inch monitor outputs and two sets of stereo line inputs (labeled 5, 6, 7, and 8), for a total of eight outputs. The Scarlett MixControl DSP mixer and router app (download or I can give you a copy) presents a clear, easy-to-use interface for monitoring the Scarlett 18i8's inputs and outputs. It also comes with a set of presets for various mix configurations, and promises just 1.4ms of latency when recording. Any questions welcome- You can try this out in my Ilkley studio or I can box it up and post it- Parcel Force 48 is about £9.00. You're welcome to arrange your favourite courier too... thanks for looking, joe
  8. Thanks for putting 'Unpaid' in your title which really helps, good luck with this search, joe
  9. Hiya I have 2 pre-amps to choose from. A Joe Meek VC3 Mk2 with an Opto-Compressor and Enhancer and an M-Audio 2 Channel DMP2. Both of these have XLR outputs. I've used both for vocal and acoustic guitar recording and they perform very well, cheers, joe
  10. I guess that's why there's no mention of payment. It doesn't help not to at least make reference to the fees paid. Many of us don't only play bass as a hobby..? I'm in Yorkshire too!
  11. Hiya this model is new to me. Is the concept a ‘double bass with frets’? I’ll look for clips of it being played which can help the uninformed such as me! glwts, Joe
  12. Now that's a good deal! I know Bernard and he's a very trustworthy fellow and makes very good coffee... I've played this bass and can vouch for it, GLWTS, joe
  13. Hiya I'd happily (Jack) pass this on to W. London friends but can't seem to find any mention of actual band fees other than 'at least we’ll get paid' . Knowing you are an experienced chap I'm sure I must have missed it? joe
  14. Hiya I've forwarded a link to a guitarist friend who may be interested. Guitarchat seems to have disappeared... GLWTS, joe
  15. I didn't notice it was originals in your ad and realise it's much harder. Eventually the writers get the lion's share of any income, sometimes leaving the rest of the band as 'backing musicians'. I've been in that role many times! joe
  16. I've just sold an item to Rob (Colonel36) who perservered through illness and poor delivery to finally get the package, let me know it had finally arrived and thanked me! Thanks, Rob. joe
  17. Thanks Andy, that's helpful to see, joe
  18. Hi Trav It really helps if you mention payment (or not). Otherwise you're propogating the idea the musicians are only doing it for fun, some are but give us a choice please. best wishes, joe
  19. I'm really surprised to see this still for sale. I'm a player of the 4 string version and, after owning various fretless basses, settled on the Pedulla. It is hands-on the best instrument I have ever played. Somebody is in for a delight sooner or later....despite these uncertain times... GLWTS, joe
  20. Thanks it's now working. I wonder why it took so long to correct? joe
