I have an immaculate, never gigged, fully boxed and working perfectly Bass POD XT (see pictures below). It is a fantstic bit of kit but I have decided to stick with my rack gear and just a couple of specific pedals. Therefore this can go to a better home. I am interested in trades for an Epiphone Thunderbird / Blackbird hardcase A Steinberger Spirit hardcase Ebow plus or other interesting effects Cash adjustments either way are no problem as are other offers Cash Price £100 collected or postage split both ways cheers GD

I'd love some Moog madness but I seem to run out of kidneys to sell on Ebay ! GD

There's some great suggestions here thanks a lot. I must have a look at the Akai pedals because I've liked some of their stuff in the past. For flange I am looking for a good deep controllable sweep but one that doesn't completely rob my bottom end. For chorus I like a really rich tone the thicker the better and for delay I am looking for something that will give me natural sounding delays that aren't tinny and lifeless really. I already have a James Lomenzo Hyperdrive for grit and I am looking for an MXR Bass Envelope filter for a bit fo Tool flavoured modulation rather then funk. Keep the suggestions / recommendations coming ! GD

Hi guys I'll look at the BF 2, is it similar to the old brown Bass Flanger ?. As far as tap tempo goes I think that is a really useful feature and currently use it on my XT Live thing. Cheers GD

Years ago I always used to use single pedals, then I went to rack effects and foot controllers and more recently I upgraded to an all singing Line 6 Bass Floor Pod XT Live thingy. Today I have finally given up on the thing, although a great piece of kit, I find I always want 2 modulations or a delay and a reverb at the same time or I want to turn one effect on and another off in quick succession. I have decided to go back to running individual pedals again (if anyone wants a brand new, still boxed, never played outside the living room XT Live let me know !) There are many threads here from people who have got the latest flavour of pedal but I am just looking for the basics. I am on a budget so price is important but what would you recommend for the following 1. Chorus (nice and shimmery, used to have the original Boss Bass one and liked that sound) 2. Flange (had the Dod Bass flanger and loved that) 3. Delay (got to sound strong, too many have really weak sounding reflections that don't sound great) Thanks for any advice GD

They are lots cheaper from the USA shame about the wrong voltage adaptor. I'd snaffle one straight away at the £140 mark but £229 is out of my limited budget. You guys that now have one - what do you think of it ?

PM'd from just down the road ! GD

That Chorus is awesome, I play quite dark, gothic, music and it would work a treat - but not at that price ! GD

What were they thinking ! I thought my own band photo's were band enough over the years - now I almost feel redeemed ! GD

I'm interested in getting one, probably the Rock bass version, probably 5 strings, but maybe not. Before I even try and hunt one down to play test what are opinions on them (not the shape as that is a really personal choice but playability / sound etc) ? cheers for the input GD

Interesting links you've sent - but they do highlight what I was saying, one of those is handmade another is available in Chrome or gold plated only. Is a high C string so unusual that main stream manufacturers (eg D'Addario Elixir etc) don't do them as a set ? GD

I've just bought a new 5 string Steinberger Spirit bass of these forums. I have also ordered an adaptor from the states that will let me string it with normal single ball ends instead if double ball ends. I enjoy playing my 5 strings (I have another as well) - the problem I always get is finding the right strings for them. The band I play in isn't heavy enough to warrant the low B and often has a lot of space where there is singing and minimal guitar picking - this gives me the space to play passages that little bit higher and not thunder away underneath the singer. So I like to string my 5 with a high C instead of a low B. Why don't string manufacturers accommodate this ? I can low B sets in every make and gauge under the sun but can't find a simple 5 set with a C. I have resorted to buying 6 string sets instead. Luckily my favourite strings are D'addario Nickel and they do a 6 string set but surely other people somewhere must have this problem as well ? GD

Thanks I'll give it a try. I've just picked up a passive bass here and I'll try that too. Thanks GD

Hi Bozzbass, I'm interested in your results. I've had one for about 2 months now and find it pretty much unusable. It will track very slow passages OK, but then start to jump around all over the place when you get to even a moderate pace. It also seems to pick up on harmonics somehow because half way through a progression it will play the right note but at the wrong octave. I keep on trying because if it works it will great for my new band. GD

Thanks guys for the quick response, I'll have to do a bit of diggign around now. cheers GD

Hi just watched the later show, Tom Jones did two tracks, does anyone know who the bassist was on the first track ? I loved the playing, understated yet right in the pocket. Names on a postcard please ! GD
