i would personally reccomend the Epi Pro t bird over both the Tokai and the Epi,it is awesome value for money and sounds terrifying(in a good way)
-
I told the rest of my band that i wanted one and they pretty much all said Yuck! Its definately a "marmite" bass......i bloody love Marmite! Thinking of getting a black one with a matching scratchplate,or maybe blue, then again a white one might look pretty cool.... Gotta save some cash first, plenty of thinking time.

Now that is one seriously sexy beast! if i continue looking at it any longer i will have created a puddle of drool you could sail your ship in!

T Alan and BTRL are playing the Nags Head in High Wycombe on the 5th of next month along with Kickback UK and Stand Out Riot. Gonna be awesome!
-
I can reccomend the DR Dt's gotta watch the intonation on the low a string though, my t bird isn't really long enough so it won't really take it,I get away with it live though. The strings sound awesome.
HI, i noticed fast fret wear with the standard strings right away but I was aware of this from posts on the net about the standard strings. I changed them quickly to rotosound 66,s and now I can see where the frets have worn shiny flats on the contact area of the frets on the strings now. Softer strings might be a good idea,I,ve heard that DR-hi beams are softer. The alternative if you feel confident is to replace them with quality fret wire-dunlop jumbos or medium, whatever floats yer boat. I would have no problems with doing the work because this one is a keeper and they last for so long it,s a one time fix unless you get cheap chinese strings. I have had this issue with another bass of mine, accelerated fret wear in front of your eyes with these cheapo strings-you get what you pay for. hope this helps
thanks for the advice, ive chucked some DR drop tuned strings on it,the problem ive got now is getting the intonation on the 135,all the others are sweet, the fat boy just wont have it though! Tuned to A,D,A,D,G so its pretty low stuff, got some recording coming up so im starting to get sweaty! The problem seems to be that the saddle on the bridge is just a bit too long,is there a manufacturer that makes a saddle that would just fit in and be the right length? Bit out of my comfort zone now! Help me obi wan kebasschat, you're my only hope!
I have done a few gigs with this now and I do a few tunes in drop d and it really thunders down tuned.
just re strung mine and ive noticed the frets are really worn allready, anybody else found unusually fast fret ware? you can actually see the string wind marks on some and when i say worn i mean it,they look like the big dipper at blackpool pleasure beach! i think they must be made of some seriously soft and cheap stuff,Epiphone made a cracking bass but its a shame they scrimped on the fretting.

that top ten has some massive emissions doesnt it,eh? Any list of top Bassists with no Rocco Prestia involved isnt worth the paper it probably isnt even written on as far as i'm concerned. As far as Ms Laverne is concerned,i saw Kenickie on a few occasions simply because they just seemed to be everywhere i went for some reason,i grew to quite enjoy their bubblegum pop and she was very adept at wearing short skirts and high boots which in my book makes her a pretty good musician! To be fair, she did the whole frontwoman job pretty well, allways had some razor sharp one liners and banter if my memory serves me right,i'm not saying they were the best band in the world but i certainly don't think they were the worst either. As for Lush, well yes they did sell out and go really awful but their earlier shoegazy stuff was really good....Sleeper? you can keep Sleeper. I would just like to add at this juncture that Cerys Mathews of Catatonia was the greatest frontwoman back in the nineties, she was and probably still is my favourite Welsh person ever!

go get a Epi Pro 5 T-Bird,they look cool as hell and no one,not even someone with a flying V can argue with someone who is out ranking them with a T-Bird! If they keep up the yakking just beat them to death with it! I was getting all sorts of "advice" about what song needs what tuning etc when i first joined BTRL,i simply just went drop D and wrote new bass lines around that, then i bought a 5 and went ADADG and kept all my original lines just with expanded low bits here and there. I cant be bothered with tuning up and down all over the set for each bloody song!

give the Epiphone 5 string pro T-Bird a go,i'm using mine loads at the moment and its holding up great.

In ear monitoring? What type? Brand?
Meenie replied to Jimelliottbassist's topic in General Discussion
Maybe for drums you could use a cabled in ear system? The theory being you're static on stage so wouldn't need the expense and potential headaches that go with wireless gear. A simple headphone amp with your earphones and fed from the monitor mixer should do it... Jon
sorry, ive caused a misunderstanding there,i want the in ear monitoring for playing bass not drums. The drummer comment was just so you all knew i was borderline caveman and didnt use words of more than two syllables to describe stuff! -

Ive been thinking about going down this route for monitoring, just how expensive is it? I know absolutely nothing about wireless systems and have no idea what the costs would be for any of it whether it be low end or high end with ear moulds etc. how does it all work, keep it simple please...i am a drummer remember! -
Anyone else going to see Pavement in Brixton tonight? really looking forward to it.
