1. But you are online!? Keep the bass ditch the web. Or just get an emachine.
2. Any free material out there? Books are so 20th century

4. Hi Ruben. Is that you with the beard then?
5. Dont play with your injuries,or your food, and dont pick your scabs either
6. Excellent!
7.
i got a bear strap and i love it - made to the length i requested (under £30 if i remember right) http://www.bearstraps.com/
So you dont spill your guinness right? Clever.
8. Just whack some laggy bands on your wardrobe.
9.
The same as before it was done, it's still wood inside !
Yes but the leather stops all vibrations. Elvis's leather bound acoustic sounded terrible apparently. Looks cool. And very cheap.
10. Thanks. I love the differentness of these basses and the no bullshit 'it is what it is' approach of the wordpress site. Really cool.
11.
It's pretty easy to reproduce scatter wounds with a machine. That's what Nordstrand do.
Exactly. Scatterwound pickups are worth paying extra. The question as I see it is not are these/those pickups worth the money, very few things are, but rather, how do i/you find a good sound that is your own? Maybe buying the bits and winding your own. This way is more exciting, it isn't hard and the results will always be satisfying and chances are you'll love the tone as you created it yourself. Dont let anyone tell you that things have to be a certain way because so and so from such and such has the same setup. It's nonsense really. If you have to buy pickups made in china based on a low budget i wouldn't have high expectations. Expensive pickups are just that, expensive but made the same way as they have been made for the past 60 or so years. Computers with 0 tolerances and a good marketing dep dont make better products. Most people will believe what you tell them if you tell them what they want to hear. A quality bass with well made pickups will give you a better chance at acheiving the sound your after. The rest comes down to your ability to produce the sound you want from ANY instrument through technique. Coil shapes and different magnets produce different characteristics (?). Research this and buy a well constructed pickup based on these facts. You will get what you pay for but this doesn't mean the more you pay the more you get. This is the gospel according Jon Letts. Not God's own word. Just opinions not facts.
12. Scatterwound pickups are worth paying for. As for the general factory runs, I think you know the answer already.
13. Cant see a website for these. Wha Gwan?
14. That is a very original and cool looking bass. Build quality looks top. How the f*** can he sell them so cheap? It has to be worth double/triple that. I must check this guy out.
15. The only difference is the pickups aint it? Soundwise anyway. Different neck dimensions will alter the sound slightly n'all. Cant stand the jazz tone personally.
16. I can see what you're doing Giuseppe. You got a definate f-ealing for what you're doing and with the right musicians and extra input I'm sure you could find your sound/audience. Your heart is in it but as you said yourself, needs better production and arrangement maybe. Good luck.
17. I'm sure you'll be well happy with it man. They'll all be very cool guitars that I'll want to keep as usual.
18.
Keeping a close on this thread as I'm fitting my first bridge tomorrow (waiting for some filler to dry properly tonight). Quick question: if you shove the ground wire in one of the screw holes, isn't there a chance of splitting the wire by the time you've screwed everything down tight? Scott
No. The screw will make a thread and the wire instantly becomes part of the thread and doesn't get pushed downwards at all. You only need to screw the screw in once. It's not like a moving part that will wear through the wire.
19. The powder coating wont stop a current. Just attach one end to the mains and hold on to the other end for proof. The screw will eat straight throu the 'black' and make more than adequate contact with your groundwire. The bridge needs to be absolutely flat and solidly seated on the body and any thing, even paper thickness will affect the tonal transfer which is why you have to make a channel.
20. You do not need to scrape anything. That is vandalism. You just shove it in the screw hole as suggested. The main issue is the bridge being held off the body by the wire which does, will and probably has done. You need to carefully gouge a channel from the wires hole to the screw hole with a sharp chisel and the palm of your hand to tap the handle while you hold the chisel firmly at the sharp end resting the hand on the bass to avoid nasty, nasty slippage.
21. Janek Gwizdala, of course. All free downloads from his website too. Tony Grey. The Dave Weckl band maybe. Obviously Graceland has to be up there. Any dr Alimantado album. Many many great players.
22.
I have this model and it is a great bass regardless of price and better than many more expensive Jazzes I have played.
You know i'm sure you're right. Price means nothing. Stick a fender neck on it and off you go.
