1. Sounds good. Circles are by far the easiest. Heres the cavity layout if she needs it.
2. Soo many bumps. Surprising. Looks like a great bass. I love the unusual horse chestnut topwood. Good luck with the sale mate.
3. f holes are nice. Jay said he didn't want the traditional holes on his 4 string. It would be nice to keep it simple, something like this or f-holes.
4.
Start a third band
This, and then some.
5. Hey there. Welcome home.
6.
Martin tends to make his necks much shallower back to front than a lot of other basses. I asked him to make mine a bit more chunky than the others he was building at the time I put my order in.
But surely if it causes regular problems he would change something. My necks are also very shallow, 12mm nut to 18mm heel (without fingerboard). Maybe Sei are even thinner, me no know.
7. Still not sold? hard times. Very nice looking bass but maybe if it were fender shaped you'd have more luck
8. Cool. Looks proper.
9.
Just checked out the ACG website to read this posted on 29 April 2012 .... New commissions.I will not be able to take on any new commissions for a while due to a family medical issue. All current work will still carry on as usual, with what I hope will be minimal disruption. Anyone I am currently in discussions with will still be able to place an order should they wish to. As soon as the situation changes I will start to take on new orders, please keep an eye on the website for news. In the interim I am always happy to discuss future builds and put together spec sheets and quotes. There are also several stock basses on the available now page which may meet your specification. Many thanks. Alan
Oh dear. That sounds awful. Hope all is well Alan!
10. I might add, a lot of folk just like the look of a design and having one built to order is custom enough, with choice of topwoods, pickups etc. I find very few people actually care about nut widths, string spacing, scale length and such. Find one you like and go for it. You will find that most handmade basses will take a big fat dump on every factory instrument you ever played, and are much more adapt at being setup the way you like. The comment about Sei needing frequent truss adjustments I find quite strange. Necks made of weird and wonderfull woods are bad news though so maybe that's it. I reiterate, let the builder advise and trust what they tell you in the safety of their experience. I believe Ken Smith doesn't offer custom neck woods at all just a choice of 'stringers' and main core because he knows what works and trying new ideas at your expense isn't a good idea.
11. BigredX-Wise words. You can't teach your Grandma how to suck eggs. In my world 'custom' means spec, not untested shapes and woods.
12. These were made 'for girls' and also unfortunate boys who were destined to get beaten up with there own 'guitars' because their mum went and got their christmas present.
13. These invisible basses are a steal at half the price.
14.
Take a look at letts basses. He is building three at the moment for 3 bass chatter, myself included. There are some posts in the affiliates thread
Thanks Jay. I didn't want to say owt myself like
15. A simple wtf do you know? would sufice.
16. Something else to waste my time with. Brillianto.
17. What bass you using? Jazz? Active? Passive humbuckers is what you want.
18. The frets aren't black.
19.
Another possibility is to use expanding foam - the sort of stuff builders use for sealing gaps. Get a plastic bag and use it to line the carrying case. Squirt a load of expanding foam into it and fold the top of the bag over (needs to be a fairly large bag). Then push the light (or other object) halfway into the base of the foam-filled bag and leave the foam to set. The trick is to use enough foam to half-fill the carrying bag when fully expanded and set, so some experimentation might be needed. Next, get another plastic bag and squirt a load of expanding foam into it. Close the top of the bag and gently push it into the carrying case over the top half of the object to be protected. Again, the trick is to use just the right amount of foam. When set, you should have two plastic bags moulded to the shape of the object to be protected on the inside and to the carrying case on the outside.
Just pray the bags dont split. You'll never remove that stuff from you're expensive equipment.
20.
Under current laws, copyright is automatic. The guys behind the Amen break never sought royalties: http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Amen_break
This. copyrighting is bol locks.
21.
Vintage Sunburst.. The black looks a bit plasticy. Or hang on for the new pro-classics.. http://www.epiphone....sic-IV-PRO.aspx I'd get the Alpine White one. Or you could save up and buy the real-deal... I'm considering letting mine go to fund a new project. Sorry don't know much about Android tech
It is plastic. I went out to buy a guitar a long time ago and came back with a bass. My girlfriend left me and i now have no friends.
22. polystyrene? Theres a foam seller on the indoor market in leicester where you can buy a ruck load of foam for a few quid. Surely there are similar sellers on the internet.
23. Have one for me!
