1. . . .and vice-versa. A passive instrument in the active socket wont drive the amp enough and you'll get no kick.
2. Yes. If you plug a high output (active) instrument into the high gain (passive) input, you lose all your clean headroom or summat (it will distort at lower levels). Which is the reason they have 2 inputs on decent amplifiers.
3.
2002 Portugal and it was rocks and bottles being thrown originally after just 2 songs. Tough Gig!!! photoshopped pickle=funny rocks and bottles=not funny BB
In this case rocks and bottles would be far funnier.
4. Yo. Another jazz user *sigh*. Nevermind, i'm sure you'll soon find something a little more individual Anyways, welcome home and good luck with the 3 piece (the best kind of piece besides the cod). Easy now. Jon
5. Better pics are needed i feel.
6. These new fangled factory finishes are notoriously hard to repair. Polyurethane innit. Impossible to repair 'invisibly' and you are right that the area will most likely flake off as the wood beneath is no longer protected. Doom and gloom. On the upside, it's unlikely that any shiny finish stays ding free for very long. Just ignore it. You'll notice it less as the dings increase and eventually it'll look as all precisions should look, 40 years old.
7.
This. I found the issue was that you can't seem to get a drill bit that is the right size for them! Not from the local DIY shop anyway...
They are called forstner bits, and ferrules are perfectly fine in order to lose the ugly and heavy metal plates.
8. Just covers costs, which was the intention. They'll all be special though.
9.
Don't be silly, basses only have four strings.
huh? mine definately has wires.
10. They are all made by the same machine and are all the blinkin same so . . No.
11.
Dan, i went onto Facebook from your link but couldn't work out how to vote but good luck to you.
Wo, you ARE mad!
12. Easy. Ask the guitarist what chords (a guitar thing) he/she is playing, if it's E which it usually is, just play the thickest wire without putting your hands on the long wooden section. If it's A or some other obscure letter, just play all of the strings at the same time. the thick wire usually works best though.
13.
Chris, the old Jazz is a bit neglected because I still haven't found a better neck for it. I haven't been looking very hard, mind, and I keep meaning to order one from Warmoth but I've been distracted by a '62 Precision the wife bought me in the mean time. You can see how that would turn a chap's head. bertbass: I fear you're right, but other users of the amps insist it's loud enough to gig with and my band's not that loud, so I'm keen just to eliminate any possible faults before I give up and sell it on. Thanks, Matthew
I gig with a 30watt fender champ (handmade, not fender) and it's well loud enough. Guitar not bass, though the amp would be fine for bass with a couple more cabs.
14. You'll be shocked when you do finally invest in some new (decent) strings. They're not sixpence anymore you know.
15.
I play them in using an electric kit. Currently its a Yamaha DTXpress IV which meant I had a little bit of setting up to do (press MIDI learn, hit pad, rinse repeat....). Before that I used a DD-55 which gave equally convincing results but wasn't as comfortable to play. With those setups I've had at least two producers ask how I recorded the drums and be surprised that they're programmed. By playing them in (keyboards is another option) you get all the human timing and dynamics of a real drummer and can clean it up if necessary with the piano roll editor.
I too use a yamaha dtxpress. It is very convincing with a decent sample pack, although not if you can't play the drums proper.
16.
I play womad every year. It's one of the better festivals to perform at. The musicians are well treated and it has a great atmosphere.
Ronseal?
17. Couldn't be bothered to keep scrolling, so I just voted for the nearest one. Anita somebody or other. Sorry. You're better off not playing there anyway. It's just a load of funny looking singers with funny voices backed by funnily dressed foreigners playing funny instruments made out of yaks faces.
18.
One of them might... Although she won't be in costume.
What? naked nurses? I'm there!
19. Nice room.
20. Or, to protect from possible trade disputes, always use the union jack.
21. Well hello Daniela.
22. Yer reet. nice wood and tronics mate. Easy now. Jon.
23. Scale length of the bass?
24. Auditioned for gb a few years back. The whole process was judges by just one man who had all the power. We didn't take 100's of punters to the gig so we didn't get on. We were by far the most interesting act on the night. gay
