1. i have one problem with the bass. where do you find an allen key the will reach under the fretboard overhang and into the truss access? it has to be over an inch and you obviously wouldn't get the long end of a key in there. ?? also since when did a short scale improve low end? nice bass though.
2. seems to be a definate wal similarity. even in the headstock.
3. nobody want these? i guess i'll have to use em. i'm not bloody sendin em back to new york! that's for sure. bump.
4. some good people at marshall.
5.
It's gotta be wood if you are routing it out again.
intit. stick your over sized bit of wood on some mdf, carpet tape straight edged mdf squares around it, remove said wood, rout out the centre using bearing guided bit, voila, template. tape template over desired area. rout the sucker out, brush a bit of wood glue round the sides and bottom, whack it in and rout it flush. job done.
6.
you still looking then? My g/f reckons I have no structure!
what does she know? yep still lookin. babyshambles, monkees, clash, violent femmes, lou reed, some originals thrown in, all the funky uns and then some.
7. i need an unstructured bass player in leicester if you're nearby.
8. just out of interest. what wood is it? a stripped rod is not the end of the world. i would try and find an alternative to stewmac. they are great people if you want quality tools that you will use regularly, but theres usually a 'b&q' alternative to most of their stuff.
9. oops. i chose the wrong hole again. move me if you like, mods.
10. i wouldn't take any opinions as true. just try and fix it and if it can't be fixed, chuck it. i'd be very surprised if truss rod + a fretboard level and refret wouldn't work. guitars are 'stored' in tension for decades with no problems.
11. ordered these by mistake. the larger posts don't fit my headstocks and i'm letting them go for what i bought them at. they are brand new, still in bubble wrap and are changeable from bass to treble. can't split so 5'ers only please. £75 posted. i thankyou
12. i'm afraid the sandpaper will have to come out sooner or later.
13. he's always been a tad blue smartie. he was on 'later' the other night, all dressed up with a massive rig and played for like 10 seconds.
14. i guess the fact that you're adding options to pay for insurance complicates the 'free'ness of the postage. also what courier are you using. i gather that most companies DO NOT insure musical instruments.
15. if you're talking about nut shaping files as opposed to slotting files, i have a stew mac set that i never found much use for. i shape my nuts on a disc sander before drum sanding the side profile to match the neck. consequently, if anyone out there wants to make me an offer for the stew mac set, pm me.
16.
A teeny tiny spot of superglue.
tension and a tight slot.
17.
How many hours would the latter take in your opinion?
1. at the most. having played guitar for years, bass must be easy. less strings!
18. 7.25" radius? blimey. personally, i think to buy a bass thats already dirty is stupid. buy a fresh one and dirty it yourself you lazy bum.
19. basschat is better than any bass mag in my view. it's free (sort of) and you get to save shelf space for womans weekly.
20.
I use the iSight on my iMac to record the video and record the audio on Logic 8. I export it to .mp4 and then open Adobe Premiere CS5. I sync the audio and video up, do any cuts and compress everything on there. Output to .mpeg2! 'Appy days.
'tis the only way.
21. in me old band we swapped round all the time. whoever wrote the song played guitar and sang while the other played bass and did bak gobs. i've always been a guitarist, bassist, drummer, singer and any other instrument i can get me hands on. why tie yourself down to any one thing? but yes, bass is not the same as, or easier than playing guitar.
22. you'll be laughing in no time. i would consider a couple of different mics. a dynamic sm58 type for vox and sm 57 style for guitars. acoustics sound nice if you use a dynamic angled at the sound hole and a condenser on the fingerboard. plus, i'd strongly recommend the waves and nomad factory plugins. also you mention singing, well autotune is a fantastic bit of stuff. don't be put off by the cher effect where it is used as an effect rather than pitch fixing. it can really make the difference between an average vocal and a brilliant one. having said that, auto tune has been blown out of the water by melodyne which is nothing short of a retuning revolution.
23.
And the fact that he's Stuart Zender! Figure your own sound and style out, thats the real fun Si
this is the way. tone is down to the player.
