Hello All, so... I have a big gig on Friday at a Burlesque bar in London (!) so thought I'd practice last night and my schaller pickup seems to be crackling and breaking up - I haven't had a chance to look at it yet - I'll do that tonight. So I dug out this old Kent Armstrong I got from ebay last year that looks like it's been wired up by a three year old - the soldering and wires are awful and it works but buzzes like hell - can anyone help me out by posting or sedning me a picture of how there's is wired so I can check it out and rewire it ? I'm going to give WD Music a ring this morning and see if they can get one to me as well but any help very very much appreciated! thanks Bob
you can get a wiring diagram from kent's website.

your only as old as the woman you feel so they say. personally, i can't wait to die.

just to add. most couriers will happily charge you for extra insurance while not actually insuring musical instruments. check their smalls.
-
yea. the eb fenders had eb logos on em.
-
classic. you sell a bass to raise cash, and end up buying 2 more. quality.

sounds very much like the neck has bowed back slightly during shipping maybe. i cannot see jon sending out a bass that wasn't right to begin with. a fret level and dress on a brand new shuker would be silly.
What age are you looking for? I'm not doing anything at the mo and my girlfriend reckons I'm a total waste of time!
we're both early to mid 30's. not bothered how old you are as long as you feel comfortable and are happy to improvise. if i had to state any preference, it would be that the bass player and drummer were already mates, maybe. although, no preferences.

me and a singer mate are trying to put a band together for a once a week practice party. nothing too serious. loads of original material and the odd cover, paul simon, libertines, bowie, dylan. i have tons of experience as a gigger, but not in this outfit. very punk. free and easy. time wasters welcome. i can get mp3s of a few tracks if needed.

Fattening up a Jazz Bass (non-active American Standard Fender)
lettsguitars replied to Musicman20's topic in Bass Guitars
replace the fender toy pickups. -
the knowledge of a major and minor is surely a must when discussing arrangements. as i would think is knowing where all the notes are. even if for just for talking each other through riffs and progressions. it would take forever without basic knowledge of the theory behind your instrument.
Sweet but it is so screaming out for wooden (maybe ebony) knobs.
i have yet to find a foolproof way of getting the shaft hole dead centred. i had one router method which is wastefull and a bit scary. could manage by hand/eye, probably. other wise i'm not sure how to go about it, maybe a lathe, which i don't have. i'll work on that. any ideas? thanks
Any updates on this one?
i've got the templates ready, and the go ahead from i.m.p for doing some special wal type coil winding. just waiting for the go ahead. could be a while as the guy who ordered is having band trouble as far as i know. may fall by the way as it's been a while.

aren't j pickups supposed to humbuck? thats how we make single coils. just like a split humbucker.

the body wood isn't going to be much to look at in an unfinished state unless it's a nice piece of ash, which i doubt. probably alder which has very little in the way of interesting grain. you can get swamp ash bodies from tonetech.co.uk or craftsupplies.co.uk amongst others. or have a body made by someone on here. as an example and in no way intended as a suggested route. if i was to make you a body, it would cost about £100 including a chioce of materials, all the routs and postage.
It still amazes me that my Veillettes have no neck dive whatsoever. In fact, they are very lightweight and balance perfectly.
vnice. is the strap button on the neck, could be the answer on such light instruments. this is just my kinda gripey thread. whenever i see it i think it's my thread. weird. is the op a naquarius?
Dude, there ain't no vetting process to be a member here. The OP wants to trade a bass with a guy in Greece who's joined the day before offering the trade. You do the maths?
ok man. yea, be careful out there! stick to people with a presence.

don'y understand this. how would any genuine bc'er get away with screwing another bc'er in the ass? if thats the meaning.
I've tried quoting people three times tonight, and when I click "Add Reply", the box is just blank! Has this happened to anyone else, or just me?
same here

7 1/2 here too. seems like the average. i've never even thought about it. unless you have childs hands i can't see how it would cross your mind. on a guitar, i can see how big hands might be a slight issue maybe. i've never tried using bigger hands so i wouldn't know.
58 I'm just starting Keef Richard's autobiography, where he's talking about playing guitar using an old radio or tape recorder as an amplifier. We suffered for our art.
yea, i used to plug into anything with an input. remember multi tracking with 2 tape recorders aswell, by recording one part, then playing along while recording thru the built in mic on another machine. lo-fi
