1.
Quick question: The EMG Select i have doesn't have a ground wire, just the white hot wire. There doesn't appear to be anywhere that a ground wire could have come from as these are sealed pups with only one hole that the white wire comes out of. Do i just solder this to the volume pot or what? Also y local SR branch have another Navy Blue with Maple fb in stock if anybody's passing through Cleveleys, or want it sending to them.
emg active pups are internally grounded. whatever that means. basically they don't need to be string grounded, which eliminates the risk of electrocution. nice one. don't quite understand how they do it though.
 2. talk of the devil he shall appear
 3. ehx do a synth pedal. theres a lot of synth pedals about. i'm sure you could get a bargain if you're patient. and gotta be better than carting laptops and that around.
 4.
Richard Beckinsale worked for Mansons!! A
no, thats gary moore! complaining about the noise by the looks of it.
 5.
Though the bad back isn't included it does come free a few weeks later..
hollow! bet it weighs less than a precision.
 6.
Just do it like this.
+1 why does the singer sound to me like the dead milkmen? it's not him is it?
 7. the best player who ever lived. never played a 'bass line' in his life though.
 8.
You need proper studio headphones to mix on as they give an uncoloured, true sound. Something made by Beyerdynamic such as the DT770 or DT880. The AKG K240 II or Shure studio headphones are good. They may cost a bit more, but they're worth it.
akg but you should never mix purely in headphones. only really usefull for fixin bits.
 9. erm. the rockwool goes on the outside. air/space in between the outer and inner wall is the best for sounproofing. whats on the ceiling? also stuff quilts in the corners, although this is for bass trap probs, it's still pretty standard issue. you can listen to where the highs are being reflected and fix with soft stuff. soft stuff is the key to most room/ambience problems.
 10.
If i've read your email correct, then as with this girl, there are some young trained musicians who can't yet play in a band situation, outside of collage style playing To be fair, this may have been her first step outside of that comfort given her comments about playing all styles, she has most likely done a bit of everything in a class, and has no real world experience to understand what she doesn't know The same can be applied to any number of trades and professions where someone has graduated, but is yet to experience the real world The experience will do her good in the long run, even if she is slightly hurt by your comments
no, she's just a git who goes to school to learn how to be a drummer. by the sounds of it she's more than qualified. the only thing i can see that was wrong was the fact she remembered her sticks. i guess thats just down to a bad tutor.

 12.
So when Mrs Tension says don't buy any new basses she actually wants me to buy some new basses?
probably or summat.
 13. yep. get that a lot. p(ain in the ar)cel force.
 14.
They're Q-Tuners. Unfortunately out of production at the moment. We should probably stop hogging jayblaze's thread now...
just one more they're pretty cheap those q tuners. although they're wound using 'Our proprietary computer aided guidance system'. all well and good for a space ship no doubt! but i'll stick to winding by hand on me homemade coil winder (less capacitance i reckon). they look cool though. copyrighted design too. so, N.A.S.A, don't even think about making these for M.I.A without the appropriate permission.
 15.
Knuckle Quake 39.5" Scale
that's a real mans bass! gotta love those air coils (if thats what they are), we're makin some o' them for the next build tried the prototype in a guitar. really crunchy open sound. oooh
 16. why stop there? go 38". there's no reason why a 36 should be 'a stretch'. you can have a longer body to accomodate, rather than sending the headstock into orbit.
 17. waited a good few weeks for the lads guitar last christmas. but then it was christmas post time intit like.
 18.
Point taken. As of now, I'll just let the vocalist tell them to f*** off when they're sh*te.
the best way. let someone else do the dirty work! tellin one or two crap musicians out of the millions in the world, that they are crap, will not upset the balance of the universe. some folk deserve it anyway, as she has proved.
 19. how much for your valve amps?
 20. no, not long enough. more of a stingray size. i'd maybe just round the ibanez thing off the end.
 21.
Possibly, but not at the price I have won a donor T-bird today
job's a good un.
 22.
I totally agree - I've got really sweet sounds from all my basses, all great quality instruments, by running them through the most basic bass/guitar amp that comes with Logic, this gives me a great clean sound that I've A/B'd with the sound I get via either the Mark Bass Studio 1 plugin, Amplitube or other modeling software - and I prefer the huge range of tones I can get from my basses than all the 'simulated' sounds. However I do think the plugins create some great tones I do use from time to time - but overall I think they can make your tone sound 'forced' IMO. One question I have got for you lovely lot is related to this subject though; is there a noticeable advantage to using a valve compressor as a preamp / interface between bass and DAW? Thanks for any answers... Mike
definately! any tube preamp and/or pre daw compressor will boost your signal and minimise the need for extra plugins, making the job easier for your pooter. this is also a good idea when tracking vocals too. use minimally of course. dont kill it!
 23.
Through a friend of a friend, I was informed that the MB series was made overseas, and when it came in to the UK, it all had to be checked over and all the errors sorted, prior to it going out for sale. Apparently they spent ages doing this, hence them not liking the range. Nothing to do with product defect, all to do with shoddy initial assembly.
ooh interesting. i'll ask about that. you're probably right. f***in cheapskates. i hope they lost money for having to check everything.
