lettsguitars replied to Shockwave's topic in Gear Gallery
i must admit. i got over fender a while back and very few painted basses do it for me at all now, but i do like this, i do i do i do. does stuff just look better in two's? as for the subtle differences, who cares. the dings too, i hope there'll be a lot more by the time you done. -

it's how you get children to do as they are told. you request they do the opposite.
I am very old. You will have to explain "Reverse Psycology". Let me guess, he wants me to be intrigued by what he has put. No I still dont get it. Sorry.
-

hmm. a bc'er playing silly buggers no doubt. -
good ideas. a lot of these old basses had major fret access problems. especially the fenders with the huge body/uncarved heel thing. kudos to you. wouldn't it be cheaper to make the body from scratch tho?
-
bloody hell! you get paid? i think you'll find you're outnumbered. so basically, yes i would, do, and have done for a long long time.
-
they only overprice this stuff to get to you my friend. pay no mind. it's a bass the same as any other within reason obviously. i bet it doesn't play so well. just looks good and says gibbo on the top.
-
ha. i'm not dissing it me ode. a genuine question. yes i barre above the 12th. and so does carl hodgkinson. i am just intrigued as i've never come across the fanny frets first hand and wondered how you get on.
Seriously, you shouldn't try to find a hindrance that doesn't exist, just because it looks weird to you, all I can say is try one and you will see what all those who have tried it, would have experienced. As for the barre chord, those frets are not really that sloped in a way that would prevent you to used a barre, of course from the 14th fret onwards things get a bit more slanted but then again, do you really barre a parallel fretted bass past the 12th fret anyway? Do ya? Show us a video.
definately! jobs a good un. thanks teach.
She sounds like most drummers to me and already got the hang of not bringing any sticks! I bet that's what the tutor taught her I would of been the same though and done the same as far as the gentle letdown.
High output single coil pick up versus low output humbucker
lettsguitars replied to buff's topic in Bass Guitars
the not so simple answer. one bucks hum the other dont. an hb is just two single coils with opposing magnetic poles aintit. a pup with more winds is gonna be louder whether it be sc or hb. hb is usually wound half as much on each coil giving you the same output as a 'fully wound' single coil, but with a brighter sound. a hot single coil will be noisier than an hb with the same amount of wire but the vol should be about the same. or summat like that anyroad. -
i love the feel of flats under my left hand, but i feel they're a bit 'sticky' under the right. what i need is round over the pups and flat over the fb. just use what's most comfortable and make do. you can't have everything unless you take 15 basses to gigs like some kinda lord. the feel of your bass is way more important than the tone. tone is in the ears of the beholder.

auditioning is a right laugh. we had a drummer turn up with two dogs. nice old guy but the dogs were better time keepers.
That'd depend on the level of cack you can cope with.
and lefties tend to smudge the bass line as they go along.
Marshall bass amps aren`t bad at all. From the MB range, I`ve had the 4210 combo, the 450 head, plus 410 & 115 cab, and still have the MB15 practice amp. For the money new, the MB range is good, used it is extremely good value. And you`ll see from my signature that I`m selling some Marshall gear. Not that I don`t like it - I do, all their bass gear is great in my opinion - I`m just downsizing due to not being able to cart the heavy stuff about anymore. Think Marshall have the reputation of not making good bass gear because they excel at guitar amps for rock, and the assumption is that if a company excels at one area, anything else they try won`t be any good. Shame really, I`ve used Marshall bass gear for years, and never had a problem with it.
hmm. thanks for that. if i do it'll be new. i know a guy at keynes and he told me they dont care about the bass side of things which i found rather strange. i guess the parts are all marshall quality though. i was just annoyed that they they only have one tube amp which is a tad expensive. and all i want is a volume knob and a graphic.
