1. Pow, no problem at all - I hope all works out, a really lovely bass with some pedigree. Platypus, sorry to mislead, it's the sonic blue '65 J - apparently belonged to Yolanda Charles - it looks stunning with a great re-fin.
2.
Well, did you come away with anything?
Haha, no - I was behaving myself and actually left something there (only for a fix though - back next week to get it) - what a place - the surf green J nearly caused an accident ( bu**er me - gorgeous!)
3. Wow, what are the electronics in the Spyder - looks like some kind of 'Anniversary plus' - maybe even Series 1 with hidden dummy centre pickup? I love Alembic but the company seems to struggle with the concept of useable weight!
4. I was at the Gallery around lunchtime today = John and Martin couldn't have been more helpful - they called Alex to help locate the Rivoli and spent 5 minutes looking for it. I can confirm that it's in very good, used condition - a very nice bass indeed. Shortscale, nice low action, great string tension and currently strung with flats. The sunburst is lovely. I only played the bass for around a minute (and then unplugged) but I'd be pleased to have it - nicely made and a very good player. I indicated that you'd try to establish contact by mail = I think Alex is back tomorrow so i suspect you'll have a response soon. I honestly couldn't recommend the Gallery more highly - great guys and some of the basses in there today (vintage and boutique) were just staggering - the temptation is ridiculous
5. Haha - no problem and will do - Alex and Martin at the Gallery are usually very responsive, maybe it's a staff holiday issue. I'll take a look at the Rivoli whilst I'm in.
6. I'll be travelling to the Gallery from Manchester tomorrow (Wednesday) - if you get something sorted, I may be able to collect the bass for you - I'll be back in Manchester on Thursday. Let me know.
7. That looks lovely - what a bargain!
8. iGig should accommodate most 35" basses with ease (see internal dimensions on the iGiG site). As an alternative, Mono are a decent bag and will take a longer-scale bass. Be careful with Fusion F1 - a very nice, very light and well padded (expensive) bag, but only just sufficiently long for a J - a bit of a surprise!
9. As the former owner of this cab (I think) I can attest to its condition - absolutely perfect! These are fantastic cabs with lovely, clean, weighty bottom-end and very airy mids and highs - no harshness, just accurate representation of what goes in. Sale of this won't need luck. Also, deal in confidence, a fine and honest (and patient) member of the BC community
10. 12' Fender Platinum Bass Cable in perfect condition - very heavy, very high quality cable, extremely robust components throughout. The cheapest I can find these online is £38 (Reidys) - image too: http://www.reidys.com/index.pl?submit=View_PLU&PLU=1161 Price inc. P&P is £24 (Paypal gift or bank transfer)
11. Looks like a 'B' width on the P (good!), also a TV logo. Curiously post TV logo on the J. I agree on blocks and binding - WoT's looks glorious. As to the mucky fridge, haha, love it - just went and compared pics to mine and it's true!
12. Can you give us more details of the condition of the REDDI? At about £420 it could be of interest to a few on here
13. One of the best bass amps ever conceived and built (but I'm biased)
14. ooohh...this is too much...go on then, had it got a MHS?
15. Just love this bass - very classy indeed
16. Fantastic instruments - genuinely expertly hand made and finished - I remember seeing the builder using one of these in his band (Shy Tots...dear me...) in the '70s - great tone. A very good price indeed for a bit of British luthiery history
17. For sale, a Badass II Bridge in Chrome - this unit is in extremely good condition - it could pass for new except for some very minor dulling of the chrome in the saddle channels. The bridge will be supplied with mounting screws but not with the hexagonal adjustment key - the latter is a standard size and available for a few pence: if I find one, I'll throw it in. Badass bridges appear to be getting harder to source - probably not rare yet but I'm not sure they're still in production. Price just £60 plus £3.00 post and packing (next day service to the UK). I can ship on Wednesday of this week. I don't have a photograph but can try to provide one if really necessary (the bridge just looks like a Badass II in nearly new condition!) Paypal (gift) or bank transfer is fine - whatever's easiest.
18. great little unit - fun and portable
19.
Sounds like one where my good friend lozbass will be wondering whether he should have a crack at 5's again as it ticks most of his boxes (sonic blue, Celinder)
Noooo! The temptation - I received a Celinder J Update 4 last week and was reminded just how incredibly special these are...I'm not looking at the photos for fear of seeing a MHS (I don't have room for more ornaments)

SOLD!

These are lovely basses and the price is very good for this spec - mine is a 32" with bendwell and the 16.5mm spacing and it's certainly one of the most comfortable and easy to play basses that I've encountered. It also sounds immense - very little in it between the Streamline and my old SII

MB1 Feedback

Just sold another case to Martin who again did everything possible to make it a hassle-free deal. A finer member of our community you will not find - a true gent and always a pleasure to have the opportunity to talk!
22. I just received a stunning Celinder J Update from Rainer - the transaction was incredibly easy and professional throughout. Packing was superb and the bass arrived from Germany very rapidly. Rainer is utterly trustworthy and extremely good to deal with - I would have no hesitation in dealing again - a real pleasure.
23. Absolute bargain - if this was nearer, I'd have it (though I've no real use for it)
24. Wow - stunning - we don't see too many of these in Europe. NP is a great guy to deal with too!
