1. Hi all, I have a very high quality rectangular ABS hardcase from TKL, It's been used and has a (hard to find and not immediately visible) 4" crack on the back close to the top edge. The crack is fairly straight and could be reinforced with epoxy or superglue (I might even do it myself if I have time). There are other signs of use but in general, the case is in good physical and cosmetic condition. I want to get rid quickly as I'm moving offices and need to shift some bulky items. As a result, the case is for sale - collection only in central Manchester - for £25. I don't need to tell anybody that this is a bargain (I paid £90 for the case - it was sourced in the US to ship a bass over). Collection must be tomorrow or Friday only (24th or 25th May) - again, cash on collection in Manchester city centre.
2. Really lovely - a very cool bass. Is it a C width neck (or maybe a 'B')?
3. Absolutely beautiful - and Chris is one of the finest among our community - deal in confidence!

SOLD!

Wow - absolute bargain- a stunning bass! The neck was just too wide (and long) for me. This really is something out of the ordinary - a spectacular repro
5. I have a Madorozzo for my Status Streamline - it was supplied with the bass. I'd concur on 'OK' at the price - attention to detail could be improved, and the level of protection is certainly not what you'd expect from iGiG, Mono, ProTec etc. Mine is not a 'high-end' product and lacks some bells and whistles - some more important than others. If you're looking for cheap and cheerful with moderate protection, then fine. If you're looking for something that can travel in a van and may be handled by others, I'd say look elsewhere. I'd use my bag in a car if I was carrying the bass myself - even then, I'd be careful.

Feedback for gub

Just bought a Badass II bridge from Gav in a really friendly and rapid deal - the bridge was really well packed and in suberb condition. I can recommend Gav very highly - a star within our community.
7. To the OP, great question - absolutely not in my experience. Just making a decent living (for one, let alone maintaining a family) from music seems to be getting really problematic. Add-in the emotional issues and feasibility reduces dramatically. I gave up trying years ago but still brush around the peripheries of the professional scene. Lots of thirsty, single, slightly bored middle-aged guys on modest incomes - most happy enough, but mainly happy with the degree of personal freedom rather than the entire package.
8. I'd send it back, get the refund and then get around to see and play some basses before buying. You can get dead spots on almost anything and even the best luthiers can struggle to get around the issue. A dodgy neck pocket could be very difficult to forget and shouldn't happen on more expensive basses. In my opinion, the bass could be described as defective (though it's such a subjective term). Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
9. Fantastic - retrorama! Takes me back. I'm pretty sure that these would be PA columns - WEM seemed to have most of the market for this kind of thing in the UK in the '60s and early '70s - you'll see WEM columns at almost all the big outdoor gigs of the period. The Fenders appear to be in fabulous condition. I've no need and no space, but these columns should be in some kind of rock'n'roll museum for all to marvel at - incredibly cool.
10.
There go the kecks again. Schwing type bump.
Hahahaha! Know what you mean though
11. Not a great deal I can had but I've had a couple of Wals (played many!) and a few Alembics. The tonal difference is pretty remarkable IMO - not that one is better than another, just very different. To me Wals are quite dry and fat, Alembics are quite clangy and with layered and complex tones. I'd say that both can provide a fairly aggressive edge. There's really no substitute for trying a few of each - I'm pretty sure though, that you'll be getting the characteristic Alembic tones from your SC.
12.
What Alembic was it?
Probably this one: http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/bass_guitars_detail.asp?stock=px-EH127XF3195 Very few of these around - I haven't played Alembic's take on the J. There are a couple at American Guitar Centre in the UK at around £4300 (new) I think. I'm not sure if they have a filter based pre but would assume so. I really like the look and I'd be pretty sure that the build quality will be as good as it gets.
13. I borrowed one of these for a gig years ago - put my Trace Series 6 through it. I was absolutely astonished - one of the best cabs I've ever used. Unfortuntately, I couldn't find one to buy at the time. All the bass players in the audience were massively impressed - big, fat tone with a lot of bottom and mids and real definition.
14. This bass was briefly in my hands - it is absolutely stunning in every detail. If you're a six-player looking for an outstanding instrument, this could be it - one of the loveliest basses I've seen (and the seller is a great guy to deal with).
15. Incredible bargain!
16. incredible bargain and Oldman REALLY looks after his gear! fantastic cabs too - really light and ultimate warm clarity
17. Thanks Rainer, Really helpful - this looks like a staggering bass and for anybody that hasn't tried a Celinder, I can say without reservation, these basses are among the very best I've ever played. They exist pretty much in a space of their own - really quite magical in every dimension. The issue with the bridge looks very minor and it looks like it's been corrected with a small vertical extension of the mounting hole - a smart, almost invisible fix. This is an amazing price for such a beautiful instrument - I'd have no hesitation if I could cope with long-scale - good luck, not that you should need it!
18. beautiful and from one of my top 3 favourite luthiers... but, what's the story - how on earth did the bridge get skewed?
19. Beautiful - fantastic basses with incredible feel and tone. Possibly the best of the Fender-style basses (with Celinder) for me. Is this the bass that was previously owned by Bosshog here on BC?
20. The finish (Sonic Blue nitro)
21. I never had any musical heroes but Alex Harvey came closest. My first gig in '74 and still (probably) the best - an outrageous show bordering on the frightening. All of the band were of the highest calibre (check out the McKennas too) - pulsatiing is an entirely appropriate term for Glen's style. I saw him a couple of years back with the then incarnation of SAHB (all the original members but fronted by Max Maxwell) - same larger-than-life character and monster tone, though I believe he was in a lot of pain during the gig as a consequence of a fall. Fantastic player and genuine rock'n'roll troooper
22. Outrageous - palpitations. Would love this (and a fantastic BCer!)
23. Wow! Beautiful and extremely desirable - not many opportunities to obtain a bass like this from this period - a stunner.
24. Absolutely lovely - I've just had the pleasure of experiencing Robbie's work in the flesh - I'm sure that this bass is nothing less than staggering in ever detail.
