1. Assuming big boy has avoided arrest, I think he'll be here to join us for tea and cake (and to regale us with tales of derring do in the fleshpots of Yonkers). I shall confirm by email shortly! Lovely amp by the way.
2. Binks - perhaps swing by for afternoon tea before heading south for Levenshulme? Pip Pip
3. oh no, sweaty palms, anxiety, the works...my joint favourite colour...maybe I should just have my salary paid to Kevin's account
4. Wow, I've not tried one of these but the shelving/EQ is supposed to be an upgrade on the 750, and the latter is a stunning amp indeed
5.
Nice one Loz, Wes's basses are great - I have one and am contemplating another!
Thanks Barrie, I'm supposed to be giving up long-scale - I have a terrible weakness for a lovely looking bass!
6.
I really wanted this! Shame I had no cash. At least it's gone to a good home
Thank you - you are a gentleman (and I am very weak and easily seduced). I am a bit excited too! Thanks too to Kevin for some amazingly rapid work
7.
I'm unsure of this short scale malarkey! I'm playing a MD sig p-bass and a 4003 ric. Are these basses long or short scale??
They're long-scale (34") or thereabouts (though I know little about Rics). I don't know of an official description, so the following is 'about'...Short-scale is around 30-31", medium is 32" and long around 34" (extra long is 35" and up)
8. IMO Grabbers and Rippers have a pretty unique tone (closest for me is a Ric). Maybe the solution (funds dependent of course) is to find a second, relatively 'used' Grabber and gig that? It was possible until quite recently to pick Rs and Gs up pretty cheaply but they seem to be regaining popularity, and thus increasing in price. A scour of US ads might be useful?
9. Not necessarily my kind of thing, other than it's short scale, but I think this is absolutely lovely!
10. With so many Rippers for sale, I'll give this another bump
11.
does it come with a hardcase
Cheeky bump - if it doesn't, I'm selling a lovely full flight case that was built for a Ripper... And bump for a lovely bass - I've not had a chance to tryone of these but would love a go
12. Having played countless 70s Fenders, owning some, and having had a brief spell with your '75 SE, I'd say you might seriously regret selling the CAR. It's a stunning instrument and might just be worth more than a 70's J eventually - it's really rare, beautifully made, a great player and with a classic tone. Also a sensible weight...my last mid '70s J was...err...substantial indeed. Unless you can find a really stunning 70's J at a great price, I'd hang on
13. Stunning amps - one of the best eq sections ever produced IMO (I had the Quest preamp before moving over to the ul502) This is an absolute steal - these amps were going for hundreds more until quite recently (if memory serves)
14. Haha, gentlemen again thanks - your kind words overwhelm me! A lovely, lovely bass indeed - the purchaserdid appear to be delighted!
15. Lovely - what a monster. Dreamt of these and the folded horn sister back in the 70s. Very good price IMO (especially if the drivers are 418 8H or 421 8H)
16.
You big girl!!
Haha - this is all too true - I need to get a proper bass! Thanks to all that expressed an interest and those that offered such kind words. The bass is now sold.
17. Fabulous - love these and super-rare. I've had a Precision Special (LPB) and really regret moving it on. The quality of fit/finish/materials etc. is excellent on the Specials in general. The circuit is also superb (Fender's first). I had the circuit cloned around '81 and then fitted into my Ripper (it's still there and still working now). A bargain for such a rare, high-quality Fender!
18.
You dont want a px with a '58 Relic Precision do you??
Hahaha, would love to but proper basses are too big for me nowadays! That '58 of yours really is gorgeous.
19.
Amazed this is still here?!
thanks Rick - me too but I think there could be some movement soon - all PMs now responded to
20. Utterly lovely - I'm amazed this is still here (especially at this price!) - clearly tough times!
21. Lots in the works but still around - PMs to all interested parties later today
22.
I am interested as well, pm sent. Cheers, Stefano
Thanks - PM responded to
23. Justsold a Berg AE112 to Pa, really friendly deal - sorry we didn't have longer to talk. Utterly straightforward and trustworthy
