SOLD- Very Rare USA Fender 75 RI, Sonic Blue with matching headstock
lozbass replied to dangee's topic in Basses For Sale
As might be expected (it's sonic blue) this has been through my hands, albeit indirectly. It's a very beautiful instrument and a fantastic player. It was recently re-strung with TI Jazz rounds and sounds wonderful. There's a lot of confusion and misinformation about these very rare instruments - I'm convinved it's poly over ash. It's certainly not nitro. This is a bargain! -

You could try Ged Green in Cheadle (just outside Manchester). An excellent luthier and very experienced in audio electronics - his website is: http://www.gedgreen.co.uk/ Phone 0161 428 9098 (9-5 Tuesday to Friday) good luck!

I just picked up a cab from Stephen - absolutely perfect condition as described and an incredibly easy transaction - the whole deal was completed within just over 12 hours of the ad appearing. Stephen could not have been more accommodating - he dropped the cab off and then gave me a lift to the station. Super reliable and straightforward - very highly recommended.

As a convert to short-scale (I play them almost exclusively), I haven't found there's anything that I'd want to do and can't. To echo hn's point, strings can feel a bit floppy with down tuning but I'm a big fan of high-compliance, low-tension and play with a very light touch anyway. If you have large hands or thicker fingers, you may also feel that 30" scale can get a bit tight higher up the board, and especially on a 24 fret instrument. Again, this has never bothered me at all - it may just take a bit of adjustment. I've nothing against 34" scale and have retained a couple - I just find short scale easier, and to be honest, a bit more fun.

The 6 that was littleal's is temporarily in my possession (the bass is staggering in every way, I just can't play 6s). I know there are some images up in earlier pages but I was taking photographs for an interested party (potential purchaser) so thought I'd stick a few on here. Taking a good look at the bass confirmed my earlier thoughts - the work that Paul is producing is fabulous - the aesthetic and quality remains intact, but the visual appeal of some of the new basses is just stunning

What a very fine instrument! Mani's such a cool guy - 'didn't know him at all but used to knock about with Reni a bit - I knew him throuugh a bass-playing mate of mine. Never tried one of these old Rics but I suspect the short-scale would suit me very well indeed
I cannot afford it right now but this has always been for me one of the top 5 best-looking basses on BassChat. Good luck with the sale!
I couldn't agree more - an outstandingly beautiful bass. Having owned a Celinder I can imagine the tone and playability match the aesthetics perfectly

Thanks to all for the kind comments and PMs! Gareth - i can understand your commitment to GS - lovely instruments indeed (love the sober attitude to weddings too - gave me a big laugh! Ash - cheers, responded to the PM Shaggy - thanks very much indeed for your kind words and the appreciation is absolutely mutual - I just feel rather guilty that I haven't put the bass to optimum use. I agree with everything you say (and your original description was much better than mine) - cheers! For now, it looks like the bass is now sold - confirmation tomorrow I hope

Gareth - thanks for looking and for the offer - I've always been a fan of Yamaha basses (and nearly bought a yamaha as a first 'expensive' bass). Yours looks lovely too! However, I'm not really looking for trades thanks - I have far too many basses and the office/house is clogged. I'm afraid it's got to be cash on this one. Cheers anyway and good luck with the Yammie - quality instruments

For sale, Gordon Smith Galaxy semi-acoustic bass. Hand-built around 1984 - fabulous cherry-burst finish with rosewood board and abalone dots. The bass is in fantastic condition for its age. It's light and versatile (moreso than might be imagined). It's also really easy to play and has a nice slim neck with narrow nut. I don't have a case for the bass but I can pack very carefully with lots of bubble wrap and place it in a strong carton with protective board packaging. I bought the bass around nine months ago and it's lay pretty much unused in my office - a travesty, this is a bass that should be gigged and seen - it's truly a very cool instrument and a piece of UK bass-luthiery history. I'll supply the strings that were supplied to me when I bought the bass - a re-string is probably in order (I think the strings are Hartke or Dunlop medium rounds). The original thread for the bass is here (I hope Shaggy doesn't mind me using this and his original images) - there's much more detail on construction etc. in this thread. The images are a little saturated - the burst is more subtle than it appears here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...on+smith+galaxy In all, a very lovely, hand-built bass that really does exude boutique class. I bought this at a very good price and I'm not out to profit - indeed, I'll take a modest loss at £330 collected in central Manchester. Shipping will be at cost - probably around £15-20 for the UK. Any questions, please just let me know
That Precision was one of the few basses that i regret selling. Everything, and every tone sounded amazing on that bass. Really trying to find the cash for this one. Love the looks, and curious how it will sound with these pickups.
That's two of us that regret selling the P! I know where it is now and it's in excellent hands...can't see it going anywhere soon. Back on topic - bump for a beautiful bass - there's something unique and wonderful about the way a Celinder sits into the body and falls into the hand
