I like the look of these... Sort of Wal on steroids but then I remember I set my EQ then forget about it so having 10 trillion options is somewhat redundant...

Yeah the 'Groovehacker' thing grates but otherwise, that's the nature of digital promotion. As I say, he's more than justified his presence with lots of great free content. I like his Billy Sheehan fixation and his respectful coverage of Jaco. He needs more Stanley thinking about it...

Hmmm his advertising is pretty intense BUT he's got so much good free content I think we can give him a pass. Currently hacking through interminable Gary Willis lesson promotions but hey, Gary is great too. Love his books. Nice chap too - met him at a Bass show a few years back.

Saw Chris, Neil and Allan many times. Never saw Jaco. Just missed his Manchester WR 8:30 show by a year of gig attendance...

Think I just want Jaco and Chris Squire to be reborn TBH... And Allan Holdsworth and Neil Peart.

I have the Two Notes too but I accept the hiss as part of the whole hairy sound mojo. I do GAS for the DG range, actually the Vintage micro tubes. My concern over your recommendation though is the ubiquity of this sound from the Prog-Metal arpeggiators. Also the IRs.... phfffw... Just make a righteous sound out the box. Maybe I should try a DG again...

BC'ers, Is it me or is played music going through a mass extinction event? No live music and recorded music having no value. I can't see us coming back from this for months and I'm not talking purely Covid. Not heard any played band music that inspires for ages. Bit bleak I know but suggest a counter argument. Please no Snarky Puppy, Wulfpeck or other re-heated jazz-funk. I'm looking for a new Beatles with a bit of Pink Floyd. And Stravinsky.

He is a top bloke... many layers which you can research. In bass terms though, he's a walking encyclopaedia and I've enjoyed many a clinic from him... Pretty interesting set of techniques too. I recommend this vid of him playing with Stanley and in a sea of bass solos, Billy distinguishes himself with a manic solo and Stanley's reaction at about 7:50 is hilarious...

BOOTSY COLLINS - Basic FUNK Formula [1983]
visog replied to Bart Funk Bass's topic in General Discussion
OK, so we've got the 'one'. What are we going to do for the 'two', 'three' and 'four'? -
So GB Team, I'm a proud and happy user of a GB Spitfire... Loving it's 'B' to 'G' consistency, hi-fi sound and stupidly low action... So my question is what am I missing from a Rumour? Dangerous question I know as I don't want to create unwanted GAS. What are the key differences as I've not played one?

Hmmm interesting... try each. I think we've established they're both pro-level. Given that famously Warwick ripped their Streamer line from Spector early on... So it's about tone and playability rather than aesthetics. For me, I love the Warwick barky tone but I'm not so familiar with the Spector counterpart but the few I've tried sounded good. As life moves on, I'm increasingly convinced that it's all about playability for you. Aesthetics and tone are secondary as you can wang-on a Darkglass and get instant grit-o-tone from any bass and you don't see a bass when it's strapped to you.

Though very different in style... I don't think anyone has made chops groove more hard since Jaco...

So this video is dated October 1981 but 'Signals' with 'Subdivisions' on it was not released until 11 months later... This is not the right tour unless the bootleg is a mash-up...

Is there a John Entwistle influence here? He had a thing for hybrid 'Fenderbirds' and had a not dissimilar model with Status.

Yes Live. Wonderful. Lee Pomeroy on bass
visog replied to police squad's topic in General Discussion
This. Once you get too metronomic like Rabin and other proto-shredders, you may as well sequence 64th notes. Howe played wonderful organic melodies. You see him play and he's absolutely all over the neck. -
I saw Rush there too but for the 'Permanent Waves' tour. Also, went there for Yes' 'Drama' show when the Buggles were in them.

Loving the older shapes...

Careful! That will have your eye out!

No. Still the original colours on the Ibanez site. Have you got a link?
