  1. Stop getting Rush wrong! It's Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures that are the best. Not the bland synth Pop of the latter years.
  2. Who's on bass then?
  3. I tried an original Volo out in Andertons. The plain finish was pretty basic but the rest was nice. Especially the ramp for me. Lovely bass for the money although didn't give me much more that my normal Fiver TBH. I thought the shorter scale would give it less tension like the Alembic Stanley I tried in the Bass Gallery but the Volo's 33" on the high 'C' didn't feel much different to the 35" 'G' on my Spitfire fiver, other than being up a forth in pitch.
  4. Discontinued yes but replaced with slightly fancier version: https://www.ibanez.com/usa/products/detail/btb845v_01.html
  5. Awesome musician and bass player... which, is the right order. 'Squonk' anyone... bass pedals then high register fills on the bass... not a million miles from Geddy's 'Xanadu' line or Chris Squire...
  6. So I've been enjoying a few of the promo clips coming out but they're falling into the same patterns and riffs about how he got started on bass etc. I guess natural questions for non-musos. I want to see him interviewed by a bassist for a more insightful and perhaps nerdy shared understanding of the benefits and quirks of the instruments. Anyone seen such a clip yet?
  7. Just you... Never mind her wider musical achievements, she's brought so much to bass players through the wonderful John Giblin and Eberhard Weber. Song could be 'December will be magic again' or 'Home for Christmas'. Both great seasonal tunes to my mind...
  8. At that price - I'm in too! Apparently he played Jaco's bass of doom for the project...
  9. Quite a bit of promo happening now... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIMmdOZlmrU Seems such a cool, nice guy! He's earned it!
  10. Wow! A bass singularity! If you can't do it on that.... Bass for life.... You're playing it in for your Grand-children.... The bass Gandalf would play (made by Fodera Wood Elves).... I could go on.
  11. Not so interested in the pics, more his prose? Wry? Witty? Factual? Less verbose than his drummer? What's it like? P.S. Presumably pages 2-400 are him ragging on his RIck?
  12. I'd add Steve Khan's 'Modern Times' to the Anthony Jackson must-listen list as AJ is nice and clear in a trio context and it's not Latin, which let's face it, can get on your tits.
  13. Never played one but the appointments and action make this bass look awesome... I think 5s are more common. Was there even a 6er?
  14. ... and here's the bass on 'potato cam'... Bad pic, nice bass though. What does the 'GPS' mean? Is it for touring musicians to be able to shout, "Good evening Tipton!" with 100% accuracy?
  15. Right well since you don't appear to have any gumption, here are some links to get you started... Dan Veall's gear reviews, Pedal show for effects, Adam Neely for bass theory and much more... These are just individual links to specific vids... take a look at their sites to see more good stuff... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UUJLy_68O8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8CEWWZ4F8o&t=709s https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWTj3vCqkQIsrTGSm4kM34g https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=that+pedal+show+josh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bC6gbo3sZ_0 The only thing going for BP or BGM (as they are the same now) is that you can read it when you have a s**t. Actually I take my iPad/laptop into the toilet for a long session (sorry for TMI).
  16. Jeesh, get a search engine
  17. Just glanced at the latest issue on the stands... It's the UK mag with the US cover. Pretty dismal... advertising rag for Warwick... Oh! with a Jim Roberts column thrown in at the end.
  18. Funny thing DAve and I respect your opinion. I'm 180 degrees opposite to your view. Geddy has some stellar recorded tones on his Rick and Jazz (Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures especially) but his Wal flap had no bottom or grit. Awful and it didn't help that it coincided with their pursuit of tech over songs; Ged's penchant for chording and a loss of the mix to synths. I know Wals can sound good though, so I blame Geddy and their producers at that time.
  19. Kate Bush's, "50 Words for Snow" - it is December!
  20. I'd take the unit and your headphones back to the shop and get them to check it... The promo for this trades on the zero set-up required so it's odd you get nothing except the tuner. Possible failure in the output circuitry. Get the shop to check and maybe try another unit?
  21. My vote - gorgeous breaking up P-bass tones. Plus everything else is incredible too - songs, musicians. Stuff of legend.
  22. Oof! I like the fact GW gets props from the mighty Pat Meth!
  23. Two Notes and a dUg? Thanks like taking shampoo AND conditioner into the shower...?
  24. Interesting question - I don't know the answer but I'd bet it's the former: straight across. Plenty of Dingbats on the forum... many with rulers too!
  25. Nice looking bass... good VFM for £350
